Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook -
Chapter 1554
Chapter 1554:
? ? ? ? ?
“Alec!” Nicole was shocked that Alec would incite such drama.
“Enough!” Jarrod interjected, his attention briefly on Nicole's bleeding hands. I have instructed a bodyguard: “Take her outside and get her hands bandaged.”
Nicole had something else to say, but Jarrod gestured to the bodyguard to take her away. The door closed behind Nicole.
Alec's fiery demeanor seemed to disappear with Nicole's departure, his aggression fading.
“I see what you mean,” Jarrod finally said, his eyes fixed on the window.
“Sir, I just wanted you to see things clearly…” Alec tried to explain.
“I see it clearly, but…” Jarrod sighed deeply and said with a bitter smile, “I can’t help it.”
“Sir, there are plenty of women out there. Why does he have to be so taken with her?” Alec couldn't understand. What did Jarrod see in Nicole? Even shot by Cupid's arrows, at least with a woman who was worth his sacrifice.
To Alec, Nicole was heartless, having inflicted harm on Jarrod on several occasions.
“Alec, have you ever been in love?” Jarrod suddenly asked.
“No,” Alec answered truthfully. Romance had never been a priority for him, nor had he found anyone who piqued his interest.
It's not that Alec was overly demanding, but his rudeness and the nature of the women he met, who were usually after his money or had hidden agendas, meant that none of them valued him for what he was.
He had never been in love, and now, with his disability, he believed it was even less likely.
Alec had given up on the idea of marriage and children. With numerous enemies, he preferred not to expose anyone else to his dangerous existence.
For him, solitude, devoid of ties, was the most liberating and comfortable option.
Jarrod gave Alec a meaningful look. “Once you fall in love, you'll understand what it's like to knowingly walk into danger, to willingly get into trouble even when you see a clear way out.”
"In this life, you're my brother through thick and thin, and Nicole is the one I can't stand to lose," Jarrod added, making his stance clear.
Alec realized that no amount of arguments would change Jarrod's mind. He hadn't meant to sow discord, but it pained him to see Jarrod's affections go unrequited.
“I understand. “I won’t bring this up again,” Alec replied, bowing his head.
“And keep going. When you're healed, work on strengthening your left arm. The company still has faith in you,” Jarrod ordered. He knew Alec well.
Forcing Alec to retire with a lot of money would be more painful than death. Alec needed to feel valued.
Indeed, a glimmer of hope lit up in Alec's previously dull eyes, though his spirit seemed a little crushed.
“Sir, I’m not sure what I’m capable of anymore,” Alec said, his confidence waning.
"I need you to lead, not fight," Jarrod clarified.
“Look at me. When was the last time I had to physically fight? That's what bodyguards are for. Your job is to ensure the safety of the company, not to engage in combat. This isn’t Amolica, do you understand?”
“I understand.” Alec embarrassed, embarrassed. He realized how irrational his thoughts of leaving had been. It had only been the loss of an arm.
