Chapter 1555:

? ? ? ? ?

People with disabilities did not stop living full lives because of their impairments. Many led active and fulfilling lives. He had been short-sighted.

"I'll recover quickly," Alec assured.

“Take your time.” Jarrod paused for a moment, then said, “As for Roscoe…”

Jarrod paused, deep in thought, before finally speaking.

"Don't kill him."

Alec's eyes widened in disbelief. "Sir, will you forgive Roscoe?"

“I gave Nicole my word,” Jarrod replied firmly.

Alec's jaw tightened. “Fine, but I just promise not to kill him.”

At that moment, Alec wanted nothing more than to eliminate Roscoe. In his simple mindset, he believed that without Roscoe, Nicole would get her act together and stop provoking Jarrod.

However, Alec didn't understand that the rift between Jarrod and Nicole ran much deeper than Roscoe.

The problems that separated them were much more important and were plagued by misunderstandings that had festered over time, creating wounds that were difficult to heal.

Jarrod stood there stone-faced. Although he had promised to spare Roscoe's life, he had not guaranteed that Roscoe would not be harmed.

If Alec hadn't intervened, he might have been the one to suffer the loss of an arm.

How could Jarrod not be disturbed by the prospect? The thought of Nicole not shedding a tear if he lost an arm gnawed at him.

Jarrod's tone turned icy. "I only promised to spare his life, nothing more."

Alec immediately grasped the underlying implications. Jarrod's words were loaded with meaning and rekindled in Alec a fierce will to live. “Don't worry. I’ll be fine in no time,” he declared, with unwavering determination.

Alec vowed to recover quickly and then deal with Roscoe. If he could get rid of this pest, he would still be valuable to Jarrod.

When Alec's determination flashed in his eyes, Jarrod felt relieved. Deep down, he knew he had made the right decision.

Letting Alec go after Roscoe was the only lifeline left to throw Alec. It was the only thing that could rekindle Alec's will to live.

At that moment, Jarrod understood Nicole's mindset. He realized that when you genuinely dislike someone, their well-being ceases to matter.

Even sparing his life becomes less a matter of mercy and more about ensuring he endures relentless torment.

Nicole sat patiently as the bandages were applied. The nurse left when she finished her work.

Nicole was about to do the same when Jarrod walked in. His intense gaze fell on her hands, now wrapped tightly in bandages like a mummy.

"Are you experiencing any other discomfort? You should get them checked out."

"No, I've already been thoroughly examined," Nicole replied.

She couldn't help but feel puzzled. Despite having lost a lot of blood, her complexion was not as pale as usual.

In fact, she looked healthier than ever, almost glowing.
