Chapter 1526:

The older man hesitated and refused his offer. Nicole insisted. Fearing that he would be taken advantage of, she explained: “This bracelet is made of solid gold, weighing sixty-two grams. It is worth more than four hundred per gram. Make sure you get a fair price.”

Knowing its value, the old man's reluctance increased. "I don't need it. I trade game for everything I need. Keep it for yourself," he replied kindly.

“Sir, I implore you to accept this humble offering. It is of little value compared to the debt of gratitude I owe you for your timely intervention.”

Despite the old man's persistent protests, Nicole stood firm, her eyes reflecting unwavering determination. She thought that the old man could rely on the gold bracelet in exchange for meeting his basic needs when he could no longer hunt.

Nicole discreetly tucked the shiny gold bracelet under the plate of roast game.

Unaware of the gesture, the old man's concern for Nicole's well-being persisted. “You should consider getting some more rest. “I’m surprised you haven’t caught a fever yet, as the mountain water can be very cold.”

“I appreciate your concern, sir, but time is of the essence. My friend needs me and I can't afford to waste time. Could you give me some dried meat and show me the way?” Feeling hesitant to ask for help, Nicole elaborated.

"Considering the length of the journey, my lack of hunting skills, and the insufficient sustenance provided by wild fruits, dried meat is my best option. Water, on the other hand, will be easy to obtain due to the abundance of streams in the surrounding area."

The old man looked surprised: “I can provide you with the meat, but are you sure you want to venture into the Valley of Witches? It poses considerable danger.”

"I'm aware of the risks, but my friend is in danger and I need to save him," Nicole replied decisively.

After a brief moment of silence, the old man's voice broke through the quiet, tinged with concern. "It's a dangerous place, you know. Are you absolutely sure you want to go there?"

“Yes, I'm sure. “I can’t leave my friend behind,” Nicole replied firmly.

After a pause, the older man surprised Nicole with his answer. “I won't just tell you where to go. “I’ll go with you.”

Nicole was stunned by his offer, her surprise evident. Concerned for his well-being, she quickly protested, “Sir, you don't have to do this. “I can do it myself.”

But the old man shook his head resolutely. “It's not just about you. “My own son was in the Valley of the Witches,” he confessed, and his voice revealed the depth of his concern.

Nicole, somewhat confused, asked: "Sir, is your child a boy or a girl? How did your child end up in this situation?"
