Chapter 1525:

? ? ? ? ?

The isolation and inaccessibility of the valley had evidently attracted these witches, serving as a refuge for their nefarious acts.

The older man brought a plate garnished with freshly roasted game. Prioritizing Nicole's well-being, he took a portion for himself before offering the rest of the food to her. “Eat, young lady. “You must regain your strength,” he gently urged.

Gratitude flooded Nicole's heart as she recognized the subtle gesture, the man's act of consuming the food first to dispel her suspicions of poisoning.

Nicole's stomach rumbled loudly, craving sustenance after a night adrift on the water. The witches had intended to cleanse Nicole's body through forced fasting, but now hunger gnawed at her insides, driving her to greedily devour the flesh before her.

With each bite, a pleasant warmth spread through Nicole's body, dispelling the chill of the night.

Surprisingly, her stomach took the food without protest, urging her to consume more. Could it be the effect of the mysterious pill?

Nicole pondered silently, but her thoughts were interrupted when the older man, sensing her lingering hunger, took off two more sizable portions from the grill and offered them to her without hesitation.

"Eat up, young lady. Don't be shy. There's plenty of game here in the mountains," the old man encouraged her cordially.

Nicole needed no further invitation. She feasted on the hearty meal, savoring the succulent flavors of roasted game and cooling off with the pure water from the mountain spring. With each bite and sip, she felt herself regaining strength, revitalizing her tired body.

With her hunger satisfied, Nicole knew she had to plan her next steps. Without enough strength, her chances of traversing the treacherous terrain were slim. Turning to the old man, she asked, “Do you happen to know how far it is to Witches’ Valley?”

Hearing the word “Witch Valley,” the old man’s attitude changed abruptly. His gentle expression hardened and his eyebrows furrowed in suspicion. “Why are you looking for that place? Are you from Witch Valley?” he asked, gripping the carving knife at his side tightly.

Sensing her apprehension, Nicole quickly clarified, “I'm looking for my friend. He’s still there and I need to get him back.”

Hearing his explanation, the old man's attitude softened and he dropped the knife. “You should set off soon. It normally takes about three days to traverse these mountains. However, to reach Witch Valley, you'll need four or five days, given your current state. It’s wiser to seek help than to venture further into danger.”

Grateful for his advice, Nicole rose from her seat, removed a gold bracelet from her wrist, and offered it to the old man. “Please take it. You can trade it for provisions,” she insisted earnestly.
