Chapter 1487:

? ? ? ? ?

At thirty, Jarrod was in the prime of life, his youthful energy coupled with mature wealth enhancing his attractiveness.

Aware that this encounter could cement his reputation as an ungrateful and opportunistic man, Jarrod had no choice but to face the situation, with Nicole present on the opposing side.

As Jarrod entered the reception room, his posture was impeccable, exuding a commanding presence and undeniable sophistication.

Wayne, who looked significantly older, stroked his beard and remarked in a labored tone, "Mr. Schultz, it's been harder and harder to see you these days."

Jarrod greeted Wayne respectfully: “Not at all, Mr. Hampton. You are always welcome at the Schultz Group. Please feel free to visit us anytime.”

Wayne responded with a slow, sarcastic laugh, “If more of me comes, will their hostility toward the Hampton family cease?” I only have two heirs left, and both of them have problems. How can I just sit back and do nothing?”

Jarrod, with a slight smile, replied: “I don't agree. You know me. “Attacking the Hampton family is not something I would do.”

Wayne, visibly shaken, continued. “Whether it was through you directly or through someone else, does it really change anything? Without your silent approval, that woman would never have dared. “A minimal effort on your part could have prevented his actions.”

In a calm, firm voice, Jarrod explained: “No, you have the wrong idea. “I never condoned his actions, and I certainly didn’t expect him to hand the video over to the police.”

Although Jarrod had not openly admitted to knowing about the video beforehand, nor had he denied knowing about it, he merely expressed his surprise at its disclosure to the authorities.

Wayne's frustration grew, evident in his mustache which twitched furiously.

Despite his cunning, Wayne's advanced age was a disadvantage compared to Jarrod's youthful wit.

Striking the ground with his cane, Wayne challenged, “Don't beat around the bush. The Hampton family has never mistreated you, have they? “You broke off the engagement, and yet we never protested.”

Jarrod looked away, his gaze clouded by the memory. When he had ended the engagement, he had offered the Hamptons control of a multimillion-dollar joint venture as compensation. The Hamptons' acceptance was tacit approval of his compensation. Bringing up the subject now was rather unpleasant.

Wayne, as perceptive as ever, picked up on Jarrod's tacit recognition of the situation.

The project in question was worth billions. Being a part of it could have significantly increased Wayne's fortune, but that depended on Jarrod being influenced by Vicki, or Vicki being more influential in Jarrod's decisions.
