Chapter 1470:

? ? ? ? ?

Nicole remained silent. He persisted: “Does it make you happy to see me suffer?”

Nicole was blunt. “You knew from the beginning, right?”

She had never hidden her contempt and repulsion towards him. It had all been mere self-deception on her part.

“Let’s get in the car,” Jarrod said without any reproach, his tone calm. “I’m coming to pick you up.”

Nicole felt a pang of surprise. She wasn't sure what Jarrod's intentions were. At the very least, she expected some sort of reprimand or disciplinary action from him.

Jarrod seemed so calm, though. It was almost as if his only purpose was to pick her up. Nicole's earlier confrontation with Vicki had been a ruse.

She wasn't sure Jarrod knew she had the original video. After all, Jarrod had always been enigmatic.

Nicole's goal had simply been to sow discord in Vicki's heart.

Jarrod opened the car door for Nicole, and she got in without a second thought, having arrived in a Schultz family car. The driver sat in front, leaving Jarrod and Nicole in the back. They were both lost in their own contemplations.

After a long silence, Jarrod was the first to speak. “You were right. “I knew you had the original video, but I decided not to intervene.”

By giving the video to Wayne, Jarrod had secretly hoped that Nicole would decide not to release it. Releasing it could drag the Schultz Group into the fray, given their close ties to the Hampton family, and Doreen's involvement only made things more complicated.

Unfortunately, Jarrod had underestimated Nicole's determination. It was clear that, for Nicole, his influence and the fate of the Schultz Group were of little importance.

“Why would he cover up his misdeeds and let them escape accountability?” Nicole mused, her emotions welling up in tears and her body shaking. “Do human lives have no value to you?” she asked.

“I don't care about the others,” Jarrod replied. His face remained impassive, his eyes showing only coldness.

Nicole braced herself, expecting a reprimand, and waited in tense silence. But instead, Jarrod said, “But it's different because it's about you. “I’ll turn a blind eye and let you handle it your way.” It was as if he acknowledged that she was special to him.

Nicole didn't feel any warmth from his words, though. She only sensed hypocrisy. If it weren't for Jarrod's actions, Vicki wouldn't have pursued her so relentlessly, and neither Austin nor Kamilah would have been in danger.

Jarrod continued: “I realize you're holding onto a lot of pain, so I'm giving you the space to express it. But this is only because you're my wife. “I don’t want you to carry any suffering in silence.”
