How Are You Feeling?

I have been waiting for this day since the end of the first week. We are half way through training and I’m exhausted. Never have I had to push myself as hard as the trainees. I definitely want to know who their head warrior is because whatever they are doing is great. I’ve never been this impressed by a group of wolves before.

Kody hasn’t forgiven me and we haven’t kissed or been intimate in any way since that night Sadie caught us but we hang out in his room after training. We watch movies and comedy shows on Netflix.

I’ve been trying to convince him to come up to one of the cabins on the outskirts of our land. They are all pretty generic, small kitchen/dining/living space, two bathrooms, one on the main floor and one between two of the three bedrooms on the upper floor.

Sadie and Brandon are going home to Blue Moon for the weekend and Marcus and Tessa are staying in the training house.

Owen came by to check on Kody a couple weeks back and informed me that he figured out why I only needed him for Kody he said he wouldn’t say anything and offered to come do patrol with me out there in the mornings so there was no risk of anyone else finding out, he’s such a good friend, now I just have to convince Kody to come with me.

“Please Kody, please come away with me.” I plead for the last time.

“Why?” he questions.

“Because it will be good for us to spend some time completely alone and if I do anything to upset you Marcus and Tessa are an hour away and can come get you”.

I stare into his beautiful eyes and wait while he thinks about it. He’s said no three times already but I’m praying this time he’ll say yes.

“Ok Alester I-I’ll go w-with you.” Kody says as he looks away from me.

Yes! Things are looking up. It warms my heart... He’s becoming more comfortable with me. The other night Kody and I fell asleep in the middle of Mr. Iglesias and he wasn’t scared when he woke up. Unfortunately in the middle of the night that night Kody woke me by falling out of bed. He was having a nightmare.

Sadie and Brandon heard him and ran in to check on him. After Sadie got him calmed down enough that she and Brandon lifted him back into bed. He was still whimpering and crying, his body shaking with fear, when I wrapped my arm around him and turned his head so he’d breathe in more of my scent. He calmed completely. His body relaxed and he was fine for the rest of the night.

The following morning I asked Brandon and Sadie about the nightmares and they said he has them almost every night but since we’d been spending more time together he hasn’t had as many, she also pointed out he doesn’t stutter around me very often anymore.

To be honest I hadn’t noticed that. I tried to ignore his stutter because his stutter isn’t him, it’s just something that happens when he’s upset or scared. I thanked them and ran on my way to finish planning this weekend.

We arrived at the cabin around dinner time and lucky for me my mom heard Owen was coming out here with me and packed enough food for five wolves so Kody and I had a lot to choose from.

“Are you hungry Little Wolf?”

“A little” he says as he walks away from me.

“Lasagna or chicken stir-fry?”

“Lasagna sounds a-amazing.” he turns around to go explore the cabin.

I carry the food inside and get everything ready before I head back out to get the rest of what we brought.

After I take the bags to the master suite I put dinner in the oven and then head to the living room. When I enter Kody is yawning and stretching making his back arch off the couch. His body is perfect, his muscles built to make him a precision fighter. His hand to hand is near perfect. He’s a natural fighter, skills that match that of an Alpha.

“Are you just going to s-stand there or a-are you going to come watch The Umbrella Academy with me?”

“I’m going to watch the show with you”.

I sit down and to my pleasant surprise he rests his head on lap. I run my fingers through his hair. Imagining this moment if our other mate was here.

Did the Moon Goddess ever tell me if it’s a woman or a man? I don’t think she did. Kody shivers as my fingers comb through his hair. I hope our mate loves my sweet Little Wolf as much as I do.

The oven timer beeps so I get up and grab us some before bringing it back to the couch. Little Wolf thanked me and we continued to watch The Umbrella Academy until he passed out.

I’m pulling the blankets up over my Little Wolf when Marcus does his usual thing, linking me without the little mental barrier poke we talked about. He just started talking and I nearly jumped out of my skin.

You’d really think I’d be used to annoying voices in my head but Lex is a part of me so it’s not as startling when he suddenly decides his presence must be known.

"Hey, Tessa would like to come see Kody tomorrow“.

"That’s fine, just stop in around lunch“.

I snuggle up with Kody and fall asleep listening to the steady beat of his heart.

I’m woken up in the middle of the night with a start when I get kicked in the thigh and punched in the face.

He completely relaxes in my arms. I kiss his forehead and try to go back to sleep. It’s difficult but I eventually pass out again around six.

I wake up around eleven and hit the shower. I think about what my Little Wolf might want for breakfast. I end up making some waffles. Kody walks around the corner into the kitchen, his hair still a mess from sleep... Goddess he looks sexy right now.

“That smells good” he says his voice a bit hoarse from sleep.

“Good, they are my specialty and they are delicious”.

“Is that so?

“Oh yeah, just not as delicious as your beautiful lips”.

We chuckle and eat breakfast while I tell him Tessa and Marcus are coming by a bit later. He seems happy about it but also a little disappointed? Maybe he was hoping it would just be us?

Kody decided he was going to wash the dishes but I have other plans. I wrap my arms around his waist and kiss his marking spot. He leans back into me and moans.

“Alester” he says breathlessly.

An almost evil grin spreads across my face, “It’s already done, I’ve already accepted him and I will be with him”.

Les roars in anger and rushes Kody. He grabs my Little Wolf by his throat and then I tackle him and he drops Kody on the ground.

“Kody, snap out of it I need you to run to the car, go to Marcus”.

His eyes get wide, “Alester, LOOK OUT”.

Les has his claws extended and he rips open my abdomen.

I ran out of the cabin like Alester wanted me to. I want to turn around and help him but I think I’d be a distraction. I stumble to the car and jump inside. Marcus and Tessa were staying at the training house alone for the weekend so I just have to remember exactly how to get there.

I only end up driving for half an hour before I see Marcus and Tessa driving towards the cabin. I pull over and Marcus jumps out of the car and I quickly tell him what happened.

“Tessa is going to take you back to the training house to get the rest of your stuff. Then she’s taking you back to Blue Moon. I’ll look after Alester”.

“O-ok h-hurry p-please”.

Tessa puts me in the car and speeds away. She asks me if I’m ok and triple checks to make sure I’m not hurt. Truthfully I am a little but I’ll heal in a little while. I’m just really worried about Alester.

“Kody, Marcus will take care of him. I don’t want you to worry”.

“I-I’ll try”.

I ended up falling asleep and when I woke up it was dark outside and I was in my bed at Blue Moon. I look at the clock and see it’s almost ten. I check my phone but I don’t have any missed calls or any texts. I sigh and lay back wondering what happened to Alester when my door opens. I shoot up and turn on the lamp beside my bed. I was hoping it was Alester but it’s just Sadie.

“Hey sweetie.” Sades says before she runs and jumps on my bed.

“Hi Sades”.

“Are you ok?”

“I’m f-fine, h-how’s Alester?” I ask desperately.

“I’m sorry sweetie but I don’t know. Tessa hasn’t heard anything from Marcus”.

“That’s bad... We should have heard something by now?”

Sadie looks at me with sadness in her eyes. She’s about to say something when someone knocks on the door.

“Sadie honey, are you in here?” he knows she is, but he’s trying to be polite.

“Yes baby, come in”.

“Good you’re awake, how are you doing?” he asks me. I wish everyone would quit asking me that.

“I’m f-fine. W-what I-I need t-to kn-know is h-how Alester is.” I snapped.

Sadie pulls back my blankets and tells me to scoot over so we can get some rest. With Sadie in the middle Brandon and I snuggle into her.

They use to let me sleep with them a lot when they first found me. They were the only ones I trusted. I took so many nights from them and here they are giving me another one.

“You don’t have to stay.” I say feeling guilty.

“Don’t worry about it Kody. You’re family and our family looks out for one another, no matter what.” He’s the best brother a guy could ask for.

There is yet another knock at my door, if I had to guess it would be Tessa. I yell at her to come in and she asks if she can sleep with us too. I pat the bed between Sadie and I and she hops between us.

“Thanks.” she says sweetly.

I turn the lamp off silently thanking Sadie and Brandon again for the California King bed they bought me after they found me. We had all tried to squeeze in a queen for the first few nights but it wasn’t working out.

Brandon didn’t care that Sadie wanted to be close to me but he had to be in the bed or his wolf was angry. So for the first while I slept in between them but after a few months I switched to the outside.

Brandon was so understanding I appreciate everything he’s given up for me. Most wolves never would have allowed it but Brandon never got upset about it. That just shows how much he loves Sadie. Her need to take care of me was cherished by him. She’ll be an amazing mother and Brandon will be an amazing father.
