“Uuugh” I groan.

“Kody?” Alester asks quietly.

“Wh-what d-do y-you w-want?” I scoot up the bed until I’m against the headboard and pull my knees to my chest to get further away from him.

“I want to apologize. Kody I... I didn’t want to reject you. I thought I was protecting you. I screwed up... I’m so fucking sorry”.

Alester reaches out to touch me but I flinch and he pulls back quickly, like he’s been burned.

“D-don’t”.

He shakes his head in disappointment but I’m not sure his disappointment is aimed at me.

“Kody please. I know that I hurt you in a worse way than those assholes in Black Blood ever did but I am truly sorry”.

My heart is beating so hard and fast I swear it’s going to burst through my chest.

“Please give me a chance to make it up to you?”

“N-no.” Why should I?

He turns away and tenses. I know he’s sorry. I can feel the shame and guilt radiating from him.

He sighs and rubs a hand over his face and through his hair before he turns to face me again.

“Are you hungry?”

“Y-yes”.

He smiles kindly, “I brought some food back with me. Why don’t you go have a shower and when you’re done you can come downstairs. I’ll leave it out for you”.

I get up and head for the shower. The hot water feels so good against my skin I almost don’t want to get out but then my stomach growls.

I grab one of the towels that were left on a shelf and wrap it around myself. It’s so soft and fluffy I almost don’t want to get dressed.

I slip on some dark grey sweats and a t-shirt and head to the kitchen. I can hear Alester moving around. When I enter he asks me what I’d like to drink, I tell him just water with my usual stutter which embarrasses me.

Alester sets a plate of food and the water down in front of me.

“Th-thanks”.

I thought he’d be in his room so this is rather uncomfortable for me. The front door opens and we both turn to see who it is.

“Come on baby, Alester sleeps like the dead so he won’t even notice”.

Alester smiles at them and turns back to face me.

“Marcus, I don’t want to get into trouble, there are rules to protect the packs.” she whispers.

This time it was my turn to smile at them. Tessa makes me laugh, she’s wanted this for so long but restrains herself because she thinks it would be disrespectful to someone else and she doesn’t want to get the group or herself in trouble.

“Tessa, it’s fine, Alester won’t even know”.

“I wouldn’t have” Alester says with a smile in his voice, “but you two aren’t that discreet”.

I can help but burst into a fit of laughter. They clearly are too into each other to pay attention the their surroundings. Tessa flushes bright red and Marcus stands at attention.

“Just go, I won’t try to stop you two from mating. Just try to keep it down. Everyone else should be back soon”.

Now with his blessing Marcus takes Tessa’s hand and drags her into his room.

Alester munches away on some veggies and comments, “I am really happy for Marcus... He deserves this”.

“Tessa d-does t-to. Sh-she’s p-pretty a-amazing”.

He smiles again and then frowns when he looks at me, “Kody... I... I want to say I’m sorry again but at some point that isn’t going to mean anything”.

He walks up behind me and puts his hands on my shoulders. He leans down and whispers in my ear, “When I found you wanted to shout to the world that you’re mine but if I did you’d be in danger”.

“A-Alester y-you r-rejected m-me.” saying that hurts a lot. I had hoped that my mate would be happy about me... He seemed so disappointed.

“I know I did and It was the biggest mistake I’ve ever made.” he sounds so sad.

He turns the stool I’m on and stands between my legs. I can feel his hardened member against my thigh. My breathing hitches and he leans down and kisses me.

I shivered when his warm breath caressed my skin. He kissed me gently then nibbled my bottom lip. He’s got his hands sliding slowing up my thighs.

Squeezing my thighs one last time he backs away from me.

“Head up to bed. We have a long day ahead of us and you need to rest”.

I could feel his eyes on me as I headed for the stairs. I never thought I’d get to a point where I wanted to be touched by a man... Unfortunately this man hurt me.

Normally I’d spend the next few hours lying awake thinking about everything that happened but it’s been a long day. I can feel sleep taking me away already.

I hated watching him walk away but I deserve it. I am thrilled that he allowed me to kiss him but I’m sure it was the bond more than him.

I walk to my room and open the door after listening to see if they were in the middle of anything. They weren’t so I walked in and stripped down to my boxers and fell into bed.

Four in the morning comes around way too fast when you sleep poorly. I get up and head to the kitchen where two of the pack house kitchen staff are making breakfast for my trainees.

“Hi Alester”.

Oh no... Someone kill me now. Turning to face her I raise an eyebrow and give her my best annoyed face.

“What are you doing here Stacey? You aren’t one of the approved pack members to be here”.

“I thought I could come do training with you.” she says in a forced sexy pouty voice that just makes her sound incredibly fake and annoying.

“No”.

“But Alester, Alpha said I co-”

I cut her off, “I don’t care you aren’t here to train, you’re here to annoy me into being with you. I don’t like you and I don’t want to mate with you so back off and get out”.

“I... Wh... Fine.” she storms out of the house slamming the door behind her.

I’m surprised it was that easy to get rid of her, normally she’s far more difficult.

Just then the delightful scent of my mate hits me.

“Wh-who w-was s-she?“.

“Just an annoying girl my father’s been trying to force on me for three years, don’t worry about her”.

I dismiss the kitchen staff so I can share a few moments alone with Kody before everyone else wakes up.

Once everyone has eaten I go outside and get ready to start. It take a few moments

“Good morning, you have ten minutes to warm up for your run. Today Marcus and I are going to be seeing what your strengths and weaknesses are. Be prepared this isn’t your regular pack training. Meet with Marcus when you’re done”.

Sadie pipes up, “Yesterday you said hand to hand would be at five”.

She’s wonderfully attentive, I like that in my trainees.

“I did but I had to switch things up for today since we’re starting late. At least I know someone was paying attention. Now go run your laps”.

Everyone takes off. About twenty minutes later, to my utter disappointment, Stacey returns to annoy me some more. She insists she’s supposed to stay and help me but I don’t need or want her help.

I tell her to help Marcus and she protests saying she is supposed to help me. I just tell her that while that might be the case, what Alester really needs is for Stacey to go help Marcus.

"Marcus, I need you to keep Stacey busy”.

“Your father sent her?”

“Yes he did, Marcus”.

“Alester?”

Seriously can this bitch just fuck off and die already? She stalks towards me like a predator running her hand down my chest.

“Stacey, get your hands off of me”.

“But Alester we’re meant to be together”.

I can’t help but laugh, “Stacey if that was true the Goddess would have mated us but she didn’t”.

She tries to argue saying that I need to stop denying us. I snap back that she should go help Marcus and head back inside. I go to my room and think about holding Kody in my arms kissing his soft lips.

"I want mate, NOW!”

“Calm yourself Lex, we need to give him time. I want him just as desperately but I screwed up and now we will have to have patience while we wait to see if he can forgive me”.

After a while I move to the office and try to figure out what exactly I should do with this mess I’m in now. Stacey will stop at nothing to get to me and I don’t want to hurt my precious mate.

I’m deep in thought when Marcus links me and scares me half to death, ”You... You don’t have to worry about Stacey anymore“.

I’m almost concerned she started a fight with the trainees and got hurt.

"Is she alright?”

"Oh yeah she’s great. She found her mate... It’s that trainee Mason”.

Oh thank Goddess. This is the best news ever.

"You may want to leave the pack house. I gave them permission to go complete their bond”.

Yikes. I better get a move on. Unfortunately I’m not fast enough and run into them as I’m leaving. Stacey says hi but for once it’s not in her ‘sexy’ voice. I remind Mason that he’ll have to make up for this missed time tonight and he says it’s fine as Stacey drags him into the house. I am so grateful she won’t be harassing me any longer.

The rest of the day is busy so I don’t have a chance to spend any time with Kody but I’m hoping maybe he’ll spend some time with me later.

After dinner I take Mason and Stacey out so he can catch up on the hour he missed earlier. Marcus was going to do it but I wanted him to have some alone time with Tessa. As it turns out Sadie and Tessa are two of the best wolves we’ve ever trained here.

Their whole team is incredible. We had to jump to our week 8 routine stuff.... That’s the last week’s training. Blue Moon is impressive, so much so, Marcus and I decided to keep that information to ourselves for the moment.

Stacey is bummed she can’t stay in the house with Mason but those are the rules, with the exception of Marcus because he is a trainer.

When I get in the house I can tell everyone is sleeping except whoever is in the kitchen. Tonight we have them training to scent block while unconscious. If they can do it when they are asleep they should be able to do it in any situation. So far they are all doing well. Nobody passes this the first week but they are way better than most warriors we train so who knows.

When I enter the kitchen I see Kody drinking a glass of water.

“Hey”.

“H-hi”

“How are you feeling?” I asked as I walked towards him.

I have him pinned in the corner of the cupboards. I run my hand along his side, snaking it around and up his back so I’m holding his neck with my head resting against his.

“Kody... I want you to know that I want you so fucking bad that I’m having a really hard time controlling myself around you”.

His breathing gets ragged.

Kody groans and stands up, stepping away from me.

“May I come lay with you?” I ask, praying he’ll let me. I’d love to hold him a bit longer.

“N-no... s-sorry.” Kody walks away and Sadie looks at me with sadness evident in her eyes. She was clearly glad to see us so close.

“Sorry.” she says.

“He hasn’t even forgiven me yet... I think he’s struggling to resist the bond and I shouldn’t take advantage of that.“.

“No, you shouldn’t, but he’ll come around. He just needs time”.
