When Jack strolled in with his bodyguard, the sight of two people wrapped in an embrace greeted them. The duo quickly turned away, sharing a knowing glance before heading for the door. "Wait!"

Emily called out just in time, pushing away from Daniel and wiping the corners of her eyes.

"Emily..." Jack offered a sheepish smile as he turned back around.

Emily frowned slightly. "Is that the caregiver you've hired?"

"Not exactly..." Jack admitted, seeming a bit uncomfortable as he glanced at Daniel.

"It's getting late, and whoever's going to stay with Mr. Daniel long-term needs a thorough background check. We can't have any of his siblings taking advantage of the situation." "So..." Emily gestured towards the bodyguard behind Jack. "What's his role then?"

"Oh..." Jack explained truthfully, "I thought, well, for tonight, maybe he could stay with Mr. Daniel. Just to make do for one night?"

"No need."

Before Emily could respond, Daniel looked disdainfully at the bodyguard and shook his head firmly. "I can sleep by myself..." "Yes, you do!"

Emily tilted her head and gave him a stern look. "How can you not? Tonight, you're his responsibility."

"Yes, Ms. Smith."

The bodyguard bowed respectfully. In the South Building, Ms. Smith's word was law, even more so than Mr. Thompson's.

...

Following that, the bodyguard accompanied Daniel to his room.

After showering, Daniel emerged to find a figure looming in his room, which somehow made his headache return with a vengeance. Rubbing his hair dry, his brows knotted in irritation.

"Mr. Thompson."

The bodyguard was quick on his feet, remembering his duty.

Seeing Daniel's grimace, he assumed the worst. "Are you feeling alright? Is your headache back?"

"Yes!" Daniel snapped back, irritable. Could he be anything but?

"Ah!" The bodyguard jumped, taking him seriously. "What should we do? Should I call a doctor?" Then, thinking better of it, he added, "I'll inform Ms. Smith first?"

With that, he made to leave.

"Come back!" Daniel sighed, a mix of laughter and frustration in his voice.

"Yes!" The bodyguard halted immediately. "Mr. Thompson, your orders?"

Daniel, overwhelmed with annoyance and pointing at the door, said, "Get out!"

"That's not possible." The bodyguard shook his head, refusing

"Ms.

mith made it clear, I ve you alone." Content!

He lowered his voice, muttering, "If you want me gone, you'll have to tell Ms. Smith yourself."

Even Mr. Thompson wouldn't dare cross Ms. Smith, let alone him!

Daniel felt like flipping backwards in frustration. He threw the towel at the bodyguard... but ultimately said nothing, just flopped onto the bed.

"Mr. Thompson?"

The bodyguard was still not reassured, pestering endlessly, "I thought you had a headache? What are you doing?"

Oh, the agony!

Daniel was on the brink of madness. With a swift pull of his blanket, he declared, "Sleeping!"

What else would one do in bed at this ungodly hour?

"Oh..." The bodyguard finally relaxed, "Sleep is good. Yes, it's time to sleep... Mr. Thompson, your headache's gone?"

Daniel nearly exploded with annoyance!

He hadn't realized he had such a chatterbox for a bodyguard.

Covering himself up, he tried to sleep.

But tossing and turning, sleep eluded him.

From the dark, the bodyguard's snoring on the couch was deafening!

"!"

Daniel threw off his blanket and sat up in frustration.

He couldn't understand why he had to endure this torture. Slipping on his shoes, he couldn't stand it a moment longer!

"Mr. Thompson?"

The bodyguard woke up instantly.

Professional to the core, he could

fall asleep anywhere, anytime, but always remained alert, ready to awaken at a moment's notice

"Mr. Thompson, feeling unwell again?"

"Yes, I'm uncomfortable!"

Daniel's laugh was cold, "Very uncomfortable!"
