Sherilyn meticulously opened the pillbox, retrieving the evening's dose before instructing him, "Go get a glass of water, we're starting these tonight." "Sure," Gilbert complied, heading to the kitchen.

Returning shortly with a bottle of water, he placed it on the table.

"Here you go," Sherilyn handed the pills to him, "Take them."

"Alright," Gilbert took the pills, about to swallow them.

"Hold on..." Sherilyn suddenly stopped him.

Confused, Gilbert asked, "What's wrong?"

"This water..." Sherilyn frowned, pointing at the water in his hand, "Is it cold or warm?"

"Cold," Gilbert admitted, "Took it out of the fridge."

"That won't do!"

Sherilyn's face fell, "You can't take pills with cold water!"

As she stood up, berating him and heading towards the kitchen, "You had one job, getting water, and you couldn't even do that right? Who takes medication with cold water?" "Sherilyn..." Gilbert chuckled, pulling her back, "It's okay."

As he spoke, he tilted his head back and swallowed the pills with a gulp of water.

"Gilbert!" Sherilyn gasped, grabbing his arm in a failed attempt to stop him.

Tears welled up in her eyes as she grew furious, "Didn't I tell you not to use cold water?"

Silent, Gilbert didn't anticipate her anger.

He reassured her, "It's alright..."

"How is it alright?" Sherilyn snapped, her eyebrows knitting together.

"Didn't you hear the doctor? You

should use warm water with

medication! This is just the

listening?"

She pointed at her head, emphasizing, "You have a clot pressing against your vessels and nerves! One wrong move, and you Could die!"

Her breaths became rapid, tears uncontrollably streaming down her face as her pent-up emotions burst forth. "Can't you stop being so careless and indifferent!"

"Sherilyn! I'm sorry, my bad!" Gilbert stiffened, pulling her into his embrace, his hand cradling the back of her head. His heart raced.

Stammering, he confessed, "I know

"What?" Sherilyn stared, baffled by what was going through his mind.

"Sherilyn?"

Gilbert held her chin, locking eyes with her tear-filled gaze, a mix of excitement and nervousness.

"Actually, you don't hate me, do you? You care for me, even if just a little bit... right?"

Caught off guard, Sherilyn's mind went blank for a few seconds, failing to respond, she muttered, "You're Jenna's dad!"

Though it wasn't the answer he was hoping for, Gilbert felt a swell of warmth, his fingers tracing her tear-streaked face. Wiping away her tears, each one shed for him.

"Don't worry, for you, for Jenna, I won't die. I'll keep living," he reassured her.

"You said it!" Sherilyn choked up, "Not just for me, or for Jenna... you have to keep your word! You dare, you dare..." ...dare to try dying on us!

But the rest of her words felt like a curse, and she couldn't bring herself to say them out loud.

Gilbert understood without her having to finish, his Sherilyn... was this tender-hearted!

He gently soothed her, "Don't worry, I wouldn't dare, absolutely wouldn't."
