Whispers Turn to Whimpers: Could He Ever Change? -
Chapter 1019
In the emergency room waiting area, Sherilyn sat on a bench, her hands clasped in front of her, tightening as her anxiety grew.
This wasn't the first time Gilbert had been hurt; she had even seen him bloodied before. But this time felt different.
Just moments ago, he was fine, joking around with her.
Then suddenly, he collapsed, unconscious!
The sound of hurried, heavy footsteps approached from down the hall, accompanied by the sound of desperate breathing. It wasn't just one person rushing towards her.
Nolan and Naylor Harrison hurried over. "Sir, please slow down..."
Naylor paid him no mind, his entire focus on his youngest son.
"What happened?"
As he got closer, Naylor stopped in front of Sherilyn, his gaze piercing her.
"Where's Gilbert?"
Sherilyn slowly lifted her head, her face pale and tense. "He hasn't woken up yet. The doctors are running tests."
"How could he just faint all of a sudden?" Naylor snapped, anger in his voice. "I trusted you to look after him. Is this how you do it?"
Was she really to blame for this?
Sherilyn's response was a cold, slight laugh. "Mr. Harrison, I respect you as an elder and have no desire to argue at a time like this. Please, be patient and wait for the test results." "You..."
"Sir!"
Nolan intervened, whispering, "This really isn't Ms. Gomez's fault... Mr. Gilbert was fine just seconds before he collapsed. They were even laughing together."
Naylor, feeling the weight of his son's condition, glared at Nolan. "If anything happens to Gilbert, every single one of you... everyone who's been around him... will be held responsible!" "Yes, sir," Nolan replied, head bowed, not daring to say more.
Finally, the emergency room doors swung open, and the doctor came out.
Naylor rushed forward, more anxious than Sherilyn. "How's my son?"
The doctor replied, "We have the test results. Let's discuss them in my office, Mr. Harrison."
Both Naylor and Sherilyn felt their hearts sink...
In the doctor's office, the head physician and the emergency and diagnostics doctors were all present.
The head physician turned on the X-ray viewer and pointed to a
Sthe scan, addressing bet
r and Sherilyn.
"See this here, this shadow? Mr. Harrison, Ms. Gomez... can you see it?"
Sherilyn, silent, nodded.
Her heart sank further...
Even without medical expertise, common sense dictated that a shadow in the brain wasn't a good sign.
"Yes, I see it!"
Naylor, recognizing the severity, pressed on anxiously. "What's the problem? Why is there a shadow in his brain?"
The physician glanced at Sherilyn. "Ms. Gomez should be aware. Six months ago, Mr. Harrison was in a car accident and underwent brain surgery."
"Yes," Sherilyn nodded, looking towards Naylor.
Her brow furrowed. "You weren't
aware
he informed me. It was
to this? My brother, Francieet
your eldest son's doing."
Naylor, suddenly realizing, of course knew about the incident.
At that time, Gilbert's identity had been discovered by the Harrison family.
His incompetent relatives, not wanting Gilbert back, began plotting against him!
Naylor had tried to protect Gilbert, but his eldest son had found a loophole and hurt him! Afterwards, Naylor, furious, dealt with his eldest son personally, banishing him abroad...
But he had thought Gilbert had fully recovered.
Could this be a complication from the injury?
In that moment, Naylor felt as if he'd been dealt a massive blow, his aged face turning a shade paler.
