When We Meet Again
Chapter 41

When Melvin and Alexia got to the room, Alexia lay on the bed feeling so happy that her plan had worked out the way she wanted. Melvin left her bag in the middle of the room, angry at her for treating Charlotte that way. He moved closer to

her.

"Alexia," he cooed. "What sort of attitude was that?"

Alexia sat up, furrowing her brows. "What do you mean?"

Melvin frowned. "Did you just ask me what I mean? You do know what I am talking about Alexia. So quit the pretense."

Alexia shrugged. "I..."

"Alexia, you know how much I hate pretense. You better..."

"Fine. It's not like I did anything wrong. Did I? I only put her in her place. She seems to think that you love her. Did you not see how rude she was to me?"

Melvin scoffed. "If there is anyone rude, that should be you."

"You're supporting her? You are choosing her over me?"

"Alexia. That I love you does not mean I will support your bad attitude."

"Now, I have a bad attitude, huh?"

"We both know you do," Melvin mumbled.

"What did you say?"

"Get some rest. I am going to my study room."

"You are trying to leave me here all by myself, right? You do not love..."

"Alexia, can you stop being a hard nut to crack? You do not expect me to ignore my work and sit here with you. Do you?"

Alexia smiled. "I thought you wanted to go and meet her."

Melvin furrowed his brows. "In my study room? You must be joking. I am leaving. You take care of yourself. And do not cause any trouble."

Alexia scoffed. "Whatever."

**

Charlotte could not sleep all through the night. She kept wondering about what Melvin might tell her in the morning. She also wondered what her fate would be now that his girlfriend had returned. Melvin had made it clear that he did not love her; now she knows that whatever had happened between them in Paris was just a fling and nothing more.

Charlotte woke up the following morning with a headache; she headed downstairs to get something warm to drink after taking her bath and getting dressed. She met Melvin outside the door.

"Can I come in?" Melvin asked. "I won't be staying long,"

Charlotte nodded; she was already prepared for the worst. All through the night, she had thought of what her fate could be and the only thing she came up with was divorce.

"Are you here to tell me about the divorce?" She asked and Melvin nodded.

"Since you know why I am here, I won't dwell on it much. The papers are not ready yet. I will get it from the lawyer and ask Anderson to bring it home for you. You just need to sign the papers and send them to the lawyer," Charlotte nodded but said nothing. Melvin stared at her and sighed. "I will send some money to your account. Make sure to leave before I return."

Charlotte gave no reply so be walked out of the room. Charlotte stood rooted to her spot, not sure if she should head downstairs to get her warm milk or remain indoors to think of what to do next.

Charlotte sat on her bed, blinking away the tears that had gathered up. She knew he was going to divorce her now that his girlfriend had returned but she did not expect him to divorce her in such a manner.

Charlotte shrugged. What did she expect? He had made it clear on the night they got married that he would file a divorce once his girlfriend returned. Charlotte had been waiting patiently for that day. Two years had passed and it seemed like she wasn't going to come back. Melvin has been treating her well too.

She knew he was going to divorce her but the time frame was too short for her.

Did his girlfriend not show up yesterday? She wondered. She must have told him to ask for a divorce.

Charlotte shook her head in disapproval. He was always tired of her, she could see it on his face. He has always shown his disapproval of living with her too.

But things have been different between them in the last few days. What changed?

Charlotte stood up to head downstairs and get a glass of warm milk. The door to her room opened and Alexia walked in.

"Are you still here?" Alexia asked.

Charlotte stared at her. She was dressed in red bum shots and a black crop top, giving her a fake smile. Her hair was dyed red and her face was radiating with no makeup on. For the first time, Charlotte felt intimidated seeing how beautiful she was without makeup.

Why did she have makeup on yesterday when she looked beautiful without it? Charlotte wondered.

Alexia flicked her finger across Charlotte's face.

"Hey," Charlotte muttered. "What are you doing here? When did you enter my room?"

Alexia scoffed, ignoring Charlotte. She walked to the table. "Where is the divorce file? Do not tell me he hasn't given you yet?". She smiled. "Or did you sign it already?" Charlotte frowned. "Did you make him do this?"

"Make him do this?" Alexia scoffed. "I am sure he made it clear to you that you are leaving the very moment I return. What were you expecting? Money?"

Charlotte moved closer to Alexia. "What do you take me for? A gold digger?"

Alexia scoffed. "Did your family not sell you for Melvin's money? You must want some money yourself"

Charlotte blinked. How did Alexia know about this?

"H-he told you that?"

Alexia furrowed her brows. "That you need some money?"

"That my family sold me to him for money! Did he tell you that?" Charlotte yelled.

Alexia shrugged. "He doesn't hide anything from me. And it was damn obvious too."

Charlotte sighed. Why does she have a feeling Melvin did not tell her that?

"When are you signing it?" Alexia asked.

"I will sign the papers when he gives them to me,"

"When?"

"I am sure you are not deaf. I will sign the papers when he brings them."

Alexia smirked. "It's not like you have an option though."

"I might not have an option on the divorce but I decide when I want to sign the papers."

"You have nothing but you are so proud."

"You are just a celebrity who depends on people. I work my ass out to make money for myself. I am independent. But you... You are nothing but a proud and rude peacock!"

Alexia blinked. Where did Charlotte get such courage from? She seems to be ready to lash out at her.

She sighed. "Just make sure you do it as soon as possible. I am sick and tired of seeing your face."

"I am sick and tired of seeing your face too," Charlotte replied.

"So, you know. Melvin never loved seeing your face."

"I never loved seeing him, either. And just so you know too. He would not have kissed me if he didn't love seeing my face."

Alexia blinked. "What did you say?"

"You heard me well. Now leave."

"What?" she muttered

Charlotte sucked in some air. "Get the hell out of here!!!" She yelled and Alexia flinched.

She stared at Charlotte and muttered some words before walking out. Charlotte could not get any of the words she said and she wasn't bothered about it. She headed down to get her glass of milk while she waited for Anderson to bring the papers so she could sign.
