True Fated Marriage (Grace and Heinz) -
Chapter 1511
Celeste made him a cup of coffee. When she returned to the living room, she saw Gary sitting on the sofa with his eyes slightly closed. His eyelashes were long and dense, forming a sliver of a shadow underneath his eyes.
The bridge of his nose and plump lips were prominent as if they were sculpted to perfection. Due to the dim lighting and the shadows that were cast over his face, it looked more even defined.
He was resting with his eyes closed. He looked lonely, as though he was immersed in his own world, leaving no one to disturb him.
Celeste set the coffee cup on the table and said, "Here's your drink. I'm going upstairs."
"Alright." Gary opened his eyes. When he turned to look at Celeste, she had already made her way up the stairs.
It seemed like she no longer had any feelings for him whatsoever.
That was the first time they met each other after they had parted. They greeted each other like old friends, casually mentioning their break-up.
Gary picked up his coffee cup and took a sip.
It smelled good.
That cup of coffee was made by he. He could feel her warmth and aura.
It was precious.
The weather turned very cold in November.
At that moment, the sky had darkened as though it was about to rain.
Sure enough, the rain came down hard an hour later. Gary brought his luggage upstairs. As he passed by the second floor, he glanced in the direction of Celeste's room.
The door was closed shut, isolating her from everything that was happening outside.
He stood in the corridor of the second floor and took a deep breath. It seemed that that was the only way he could feel her presence.
He stood by the stairs, not in a hurry to leave.
Then, the door to her room swung open.
She spotted Gary at a glance. He had a tall build, radiating a suffocating kind of pressure as he stood on the spot.
Upon hearing the sound of the door swinging open, Gary immediately turned around.
Their eyes met with a plethora of
complex emotions swirling in their eyes.
Celeste was the first to speak up, "What took you so long to head upstairs?"
She thought that Gary had already gone upstairs. It had been more than an hour since she returned to her room.
She had stayed in her room for more than an hour up to the point it started raining. She realized that she couldn't hide in her room and escape from reality. Since they lived together, they were bound to cross paths.
She felt that there was no need for her to go through such lengths to avoid him. The more she tried to avoid him, the more she couldn't let things go.
It was better to be casual. That was her own decision. So, when she walked out of her room, she didn't expect to run into Gary standing by the stairs. He stared at her deeply.
He noticed that Celeste seemed to have changed her outfit. He frowned and asked, "Are you heading out?"
She nodded, "I've something I need to buy." "But it's raining outside," Gary reminded her, "If you go out in this weather, you'll catch a cold." "Thank you for your concern. I'll be fine. I'll be back in a short while," Celeste answered politely.
Her tone indicated that she had to buy the item as she was on her period, and she had run out of tampons.
It was a crisis. She had to leave the house to buy some tampons, or she wouldn't have any that night.
"If you want to buy something, ask Pedro to help you get it," Gary said with concern.
Celeste immediately shook her head, "I don't need others to buy it for me. I have to buy it myself."
Gary was startled. A light flickered in his eyes before he came to realize what she meant then inquired, "Is it something you have to use when you're on your period?"
Upon hearing this, Celeste was stunned. She frowned and didn't say anything.
"I'll buy it for you," Gary offered, "Don't leave the house when it's raining."
"There's no need to." After saying that, Celeste headed out.
Gary fixed his gaze on her as she walked past him. A faint fragrance wafted throughout her body, her scent filled his nostrils. He felt breathless.
Her determined figure made his eyes flash in pain. He frowned and carried his luggage to the room on the third floor. After settling it down, he put on his coat and chased after her.
When he arrived downstairs, Celeste had already disappeared. She was very quick.
Gary walked out of the door, anxious and didn't think of bringing an umbrella with him.
Pedro quickly handed him an umbrella and said, "Master Gary, where are you going? It's raining, take an umbrella with you."
"Where's Celeste?" Gary took the umbrella from Pedro, "Where did she go?"
"Oh, Miss Celeste said she was going to the convenience store. It's not far away. It's only a few miles away from the villa."
A few miles?
Gary frowned and glared at him with his gaze sharp, "Why didn't you send a car for her?"
"Miss Celeste is used to being alone," replied Pedro, "She'll only let us give her a ride if it's a long journey. Even then, she'll only agree to it when we propose to give her a ride. Normally, she'll take the subway or some other form of public transport. It's been that way for more than five years since she came here."
Gary's brows twisted into a knot upon hearing
that.
"Miss Celeste is an independent and sensible girl, but sometimes she's too stubborn. Other than that, she's quite a nice girl."
Pedro had gone off an endless rant, but Gary had already disappeared.
He looked at Gary rush out into the rain, a smile forming at the corner of his lips. Pedro didn't send a car on purpose. Only then would Gary chase after her as his heart would ache for her.
A rainy day was the perfect romantic setting. Sharing an umbrella under the rain was so romantic!
Just thinking about it, Pedro's eyes curved into crescents, wisdom brimming in his eyes.
The wind was chilly.
Celeste shivered as the cold wind brush against her face.
The rain continued pouring down. She walked against the wind and rain, step by step, to the nearest convenience store.
Gary ran as fast as lightning. He was tall, and since he had been striding along, he spotted Celeste's figure in no time.
In the wind and rain, her slender figure was walking on the pavement with an umbrella in one hand. She faced the rain, taking firm steps forward without turning around. When Gary saw her, he was no longer in a rush.
Recalling what Pedro said, he felt depressed and couldn't help snickering at himself. That was how she had been all those years.
All alone in the rain.
What had he been doing back then?
Right then, as he watched her walking in front of him, images flashed through his mind. He imagined scenarios of what Celeste might have been through.
Maybe that was how she had always been.
It had been four years, and she spent most of her time alone.
He seemed to have neglected her past.
She had always been living on her own since she was young.
She had nothing. She only had him, but he had been in Boston.
When he recalled these past events, Gary closed his eyes, tears welling up in them.
Right then, he wanted to be with her, but she no longer needed it.
Celeste didn't know that Gary had been following
her closely.
Her heart was in a mess. Everything that had happened that day caught her off guard.
She hadn't expected him to show up in London and to live with her for a month.
Not long after she finally moved on, he reappeared again.
She felt unpleasant and surprised at the same time.
The rain fell at a steady pace, and it seemed like it wouldn't stop anytime soon. Her mind was in a frenzied state.
She had loved, laughed, cried, and had her heart broken. She had experienced all of it, and that was the reason why she refused to go through it again.
But she didn't regret any of it. She didn't regret her encounter with Gary at all. All that while, she had never blamed him either.
She understood that they weren't suitable for each other.
It had only been slightly more than a month since they last parted in Oxford, but it felt like a lifetime.
He had changed.
He was no longer arrogant and grumpy.
She didn't know why he turned out to be one with emotions, but she refused to ponder on it.
She soon arrived at the convenience store and proceeded to walk towards the door.
When she was about to enter the store, she turned around to keep her umbrella, then noticed a familiar figure at the corner of her eyes, walking in the rain with an umbrella in hand.
The man was tall and mighty, his face covered by the umbrella, only revealing his legs and abdomen.
Although she couldn't see the man's face, she recognized him just by looking at his legs, his posture, and the way he held the umbrella.
Celeste came to realize who it was and couldn't help feeling sorry for him.
She couldn't see his face, but she still recognized his figure. Even when his whole face was covered by the umbrella, she could still identify him by relying on her instincts.
