Thread of Illusion -
CHAPTER 15
Sidney "Insanna" POV
Rusty stares me down. He has that look on his face. The look of the men I brought to their knees for justice over so many years. "Insanna," he says.
I begin to laugh uncontrollably. I cannot help myself. It is just something about bringing justice to the ones that deserve it that gets me tickled.
"Yes. I am here,” I say. I stand before him waiting to see his response. He knows why I am here. It is not him. I know his heart and his feelings. I know everything right down to his feelings for Davina.
Poor Davina. I know she feels trapped. Her sexual escapades with Reid pushed her to her limits but Rusty he is in love with her. Raymond smells something on her he wants as well. Poor girl. "Are you still Sidney or are you possessing her body?" Rusty asks.
"I came when called. I came when it was necessary to bring justice for these women. It is time to end the illusion," I say.
"The illusion?" Rusty asks.
"Yes, that illusion on the eleventh floor. The illusion trapping the innocent. It is time to stop it," I say.
"Was that you the other night or Sidney?" Rusty asks.
"It is complicated as you know. I borrow Sidney from time to time," I say.
"Am I in danger of your justice?" Rusty asks.
"No. I know why you left the hotel. I also know why you came back. You were concerned for her," I say.
"I see Insanna, or do you want me to call you Sidney for now?" he asks.
I cackle at his fear. “Rusty you need not fear me. I am only here for the truth and for justice,” I say.
Rusty nods. I think he understands. He is not the smart one. He is a demi-god, unlike his brothers who are gods. The thread of illusions that his brothers are creating to trap people are my only concerns. Rusty and his wayward being is not my concern. I do not care how many whores he has fucked or hearts he has broken. My only concern is for Davina and the women on the eleventh floor.
Rusty takes a seat. I know his mind is in a hundred places. He is not my concern. I cannot baby him through all of this. He has to sort it out himself. If he is in love with Davina then he needs to get her far away from this hotel. He has to make his intentions known before one of the other brothers stake a claim to her. I know she is special but damn Rusty get your shit together and do what is right. Defy your brothers and flee. I will never tell him how I feel about his little situation. It is on him to do it.
"What should I do?" Rusty asks.
"Not up to me. I am only here to deliver justice to your brothers and then I will be gone," I say.
Rusty watches Davina as she watches the rain. If he is smart he will take her far away from here. When I am done with Sidney maybe she can help him get her away. I only need her for a little while. Just long enough to make all of this right. "Dumb question," Rusty begins.
"You going to ask me where my body is?" I ask him.
"Well yeah," he answers me.
"No worries. It is close by," I answer.
"I get it," Rusty says.
I can tell he does not, but I will just smile and nod. Demigods they understand nothing. Rusty is a sweet little sexy man. He just knows nothing of have the world works or the way the way the gods work. He is wrapped up in himself. Well to a point. Right now I think he is wrapped up in her.
"I am going to the roof," Davina says.
We both watch her as she walks into the bathroom. She grabs a robe and wraps it up in it. She looks blankly into space. She goes to the bar. She reaches into the mini-fridge. She pulls out a bottle of whiskey and a bottle of coke. She walks past Rusty. She goes to the door and opens it. She looks in the hall. She is looking for something. Better yet she is looking for someone. She walks down the hall without closing the door. Rusty and I follow her. She walks to the elevator and stops. She hits the button and waits for it. She steps on the elevator.
"Rusty stop the damn elevator," I say.
Rusty rushes to the elevator but it is too late. The door has closed. Davina is on her way to the roof with a bottle of whiskey to watch the rain.
"What should I do?" Rusty says.
"Go after her you idiot," I say to him.
Damn, do I have to do everything for this idiot. Surely he can grab a mortal off a roof. Damn Rusty just take care of it. Rusty hits the elevator button and waits while I watch him. The elevator seems to be taking forever. "Fuck this. Come on Rusty," I say to him.
Rusty looks at me dumbfounded. "What?" he says.
"We can take the stairs," I say.
"Oh no we can't that is a lot of floors. The elevator is coming," he says.
"Rusty we need to get her out of this hotel," I say.
The elevator dings. I get on with Rusty. We hit the R button to go up.
"Why did you let her leave if we need to get her out of here," he says.
"Seriously Rusty. Just grab her and take her out of here," I say.
"Okay I got this," he says.
He does not have a clue. Not a damn clue. Maybe she will be easier to talk to on the roof. Fuck I do not know and Rusty is making this way too difficult.
When the elevator stops the door sticks. You have got to be kidding me. After a moment it finally opens. We walk out looking for Davina. Rusty rushes ahead of me to the covered area that Reid built for Davina. She is not here. "This is just great," Rusty says.
I glare at him as if I do not know this is a shit show in the making. I know where she is. Reid is calling her. She went to Reid.
"You think she went to Reid?" I ask giving him the chance to say it out loud.
"Surely not. Maybe she left," Rusty says.
"Yeah, that would be great. Or maybe she is stuck in the illusion of your brother," I say.
"So what are we going to do?" Rusty asks.
"Well Rusty I guess we are going back to the fucking eleventh floor," I say.
"That is just great," he says.
