Fated to a Fae Chapter 26

~Blake~

Rhett and I filled Jereth in on mostly everything Silas told us. Jereth told us he thinks Sear is about to make his next move. I don't know how he plans to do that from his cell in the dungeon, but Jereth seems certain.

Jereth followed us back down to Max's office. He said he wanted to speak with Max himself about Sear. We get to the office door and Rhett knocks. Devin opens the door in a rush and everyone looks panicked.

"What the hell happened? We weren't even gone ten minutes." I ask.

"Just got a mind-link from the guards in the dungeon. Sear is gone." Max says.

"His cell is still locked, so that warlock must have just got him out from the cell directly." Kaden tells us.

"Shit." Jereth says, "Where's my sister? She's the first person he will go after."

Rhett and I look at each other. Selenia is with Silas. If Ryul can get to Silas, he can get to Selenia. Crap, this isn't good.

"She's with Silas." Rhett tells him.

"Normally, I'd feel comforted by that, but you just told me Silas's mate is way more powerful than Silas is and he's able to get in and out of the pack with other people no problem and he's working for Sear. If Silas's mate comes back, he will tell Sear where Selenia is." Jereth says.

"Yes, we're aware of that. Let's just go get her. They'll be at his cabin." I say. Jereth nods and we lead the way downstairs. We get to the front door when I nearly fall back. Rhett doubles over and grabs his chest.

"Woah, what's happening?" Max asks us.

"Selenia is panicking. Like a lot. She's scared." Rhett mumbles as he looks at me.

"He already has her." I whisper.

"That son of a bitch." Jereth says under his breath.

"Jereth," Rhett says, "you know Sear best. What is he going to do to her? He knows he can't have her anymore. She's permanently marked us."

Jereth sighs and swears loudly. "Sear is fast and calculated. He will want to show you he got the upper hand. He will make himself known after he has his army to back him up and he will most likely kill her."

"We have to get to her before Sear does that." Kaden says.

"Kaden, I don't think that will work." Devin says quietly. I turn to look at everyone. I see my parents coming over to us quickly. My mom looks at Rhett and I with a knowing look. They already know what's going on.

"Boys." My mom says. She holds open her arms and pulls us both in. "I'm so sorry this is happening. Silas just told me everything through his magic. He said Ryul got to him and he left Selenia behind for Sear to get her. Sear has your mate already."

"This can't be happening." Rhett says. I feel a surge of emotions and it nearly knocks me back on my a*s again. Rhett grabs the door frame as he starts to slid down the wall. I'm panting from the pain that Selenia is feeling. What the hell is he doing to her?

I stand up straight and head out of the packhouse.

Blake leaves while the rest of us are conflicted. How did this even happen? We thought we were safe with Silas protecting us. This is the most secure the pack has ever been, yet all it took was one guy to break down the barrier. And of all the people, it just had to be someone Silas loves. His mate. I remember him telling me years ago he had a mate. But he used past tense, as if his mate was dead. He didn't say much, just that he had loved him, but they had never been together. It seemed to upset him, so I never pressed the issue further. I guess I should have. I would have known that Silas's mate was a wild card and very much alive.

I turn to Elliot and point towards Blake, telling him to follow him. Who knows what Blake will do on his own. Elliot nods and goes after our son. Arthur wraps his arms around me. I feel so hurt for my children. They've all had it so hard with their mates. Kaden getting rejected and having his second chance mate kidnapped by his own uncle and Ivan, my kidnapper. Max's mate being selfish and not wanting to be with him but not accepting his rejection. Devin and Atlas aren't technically my children but they might as well be. Both of their mates have ended up in the hospital within a few weeks of them meeting. And now Rhett and Blake. Their mate being targeted by a powerful Fae who has the strongest warlock there is on his side.

I just wish Ryul would side with Silas, just this once. But Silas said he continues to refuse. Silas has been giving me updates through his telepathy power. It works like the mind-link, only I can't answer him.

I'm about to reach for Rhett when Silas speaks inside my head again.

"Mercury, he's here." Silas says. I stop and look towards where my mate and child had just left out of the packhouse. There's a sudden flash of light and they get thrown backwards. Everyone looks at where the light came from and I pull myself out of Arthur's arms. I rush towards them as Arthur calls after me. Max catches me first, being faster than his father. He grabs me and holds me back.

Mom, you can't run out here like this. What if it's a trap?" Max says. Arthur takes me from our son and Max walks over to his brother and father. He helps Elliot and Blake stand.

"What the f**k was that?" Blake grumbles.

"Sorry about that. I didn't realize how close you two were when I opened the portal." A unfamiliar voice calls to us. Everyone turns to see who it was and we're met with an older looking man who is holding onto Silas.

"I'm guessing you are Ryul?" Max asks him.

"You guess correctly." Ryul smirks as him. Silas looks to the ground. It looks like he's being held in place by Ryul. He can't even move.

"What are you getting out of this, exactly?" Max asks.

"My mate. He will see there's nothing he can do to actually help you people and finally join me. We're not getting any younger and I'd like to spend the last few hundred years we have together." Ryul says.

"I already told you. I'll go with you willingly if you stop helping Sear. It's not too late." Silas

huffs.

"You'll go with me regardless, my love. You can't resist me." Ryul says to Silas.

"Yeah, but you can't make me stay. And I won't if you allow Sear to kill that innocent girl." Silas

says.

"She's not that innocent. She's a Greythorn. Her family had a big hand in the warlocks disappearing." Ryul says. Jereth steps forward.

"Selenia hasn't done anything. She's the most innocent Greythorn. She had nothing to do with any of there. If you want a Greythorn who actually has blood on his hands, take me. Let my

sister go." Jereth says.

"Sister? You must be Jereth. Sear is quite furious with you." Ryul says.

"Yeah, I know. He can take it out on me, not my sister. Just take me and let Selenia go." Jereth

says.

"While that is very noble of you, it's not that simple. Selenia is connected to everyone here. It makes the most sense to just kill her. But of course, Sear might not stop there. He might want to take out all of you. Who knows?" Ryul says casually.

"Ryul, I will never forgive you for this." Silas says. Ryul pulls Silas closer.

"You will, my love. Don't you worry." Ryul snaps his fingers and another portal opens. This one

is much bigger and brighter. I shield my eyes, trying to see who is coming through.

When my eyes adjust, what I see makes me gasp.

Sear with an entire army behind him. Everyone is dressed in black armour. Some of the warriors have torches with fire lit on them. Most likely to use their fire magic on us.

I call my magic forward. I wait to feel it flow through me, but it doesn't come. I look down at my hands, wondering what is going on.

"If you're wondering why your magic isn't working, it's because I put a magic suppressor on all members of your pack. Meaning the caster and the Fae can't use their magic and the mutts won't even be able to shift." Ryul says. "And since Silas is technically part of your pack, he can't use his magic either."

Ryul snaps his fingers and suddenly, Selenia appears in front of Sear. She looks terrified. Sear grabs ahold of her and keeps her in front of him. She looks at her mates.

Selenia looks broken. Like she knows this is it. I think we all know. How could we possibly get out of this? We can't. There is no way out of this trap.
