The Twin Alphas’ Fated Mate -
Fated to a Fae Chapter 20
~Blake~
Silas appeared as soon as Selenia hit the ground. I'm not sure how he knew, but I didn't ask questions. I just needed to get to my mate.
Rhett got to her first and lifted her into his arms. I joined him as I feel someone come up behind me.
"Is she hurt? She hit her head." Jereth says. I turn and look at him.
"Back the f**k up away from my mate." I growl at him and he seems started at first before he stands taller.
"She's my sister." Jereth says.
"Who you are trying to take away from us. She doesn't want to leave with you. She's terrified of you. Just because you are her brother, doesn't mean the rumours aren't true about you guys. If you are actually her brother." I say.
"Why would I lie?" Jereth asks.
"You have similar features and you want to take her. You have plenty of reasons to lie." I growl.
"She needs to be treated. Take Selenia inside, please." Silas says as he nods to my mother. She follows Rhett inside and I stay outside with everyone else. Silas walks right up to Sear. "I'm not sure what you expected to get out of coming here with your army, but I can assure you, not a single one of your fae can step foot within these borders. You and Jereth were only permitted to pass through because I allowed it. The rest of them will not receive the same treatment. This pack is under my protection. That includes Selenia."
"She's not a wolf. She's not part of this pack." Jereth says.
"She doesn't have to be a wolf to be a part of the pack. Silas isn't a wolf. My mother isn't and she was the Luna for 20 years, running it side by side with my dads." Max says.
"She won't want to stay with you. She will want to be with family." Jereth says.
"We are her family." I say.
"You've only known her a few weeks." Jereth says.
"And you just met her today! Not even. She passed out before you could meet her! You don't know her. All you know is her name and you had the same parents. That's it." I say.
"She's still my sister. Nothing is keeping her here." Jereth says.
"And she was promised to me. You took her after being told not to." Sear speaks up.
"Okay, this is a person we're talking about. Selenia isn't some piece of property you can trade. Laurel doesn't own her. He can't just give her to you. And Blake didn't take her. He asked her to come back with us and she agreed. She came willingly because she wanted to be with Blake. And now Rhett. That's what's keeping her here. She chose them. She knew you guys would come for her and she still chose them." Kaden says to them. I look at him and give him a silent thank-you with my eyes. He nods slightly.
Arguing about it is pointless anyway. Selenia can't leave the twins now, even if you try to force her." Silas says.
"Why?" Sear asks.
"They completed the mating bond. They're marked. Nothing you can do about it." Silas says.
"Wrong. We were told differently. A girl from your pack told us casters can remove marks made by werewolves." Jereth says.
"Okay, hold on. First of all, yes werewolf marks can be removed by a caster, but I don't know a single one who would do that to someone who doesn't want it to happen. But the twins' weren't marked by a werewolf. They were marked by Selenia. Using magic. That is irreversible. Second of all, what girl gave you information on the pack?" Silas asks as Max steps up to them.
"If there is a traitor in my pack, I need to know." Max says. I can tell he's pissed. We all are. Someone is feeding information about the pack to the Fae? What the f**k?
"We have no reason to tell you." Sear says, looking down at Max. Max laughs.
"Have you not been listening? Silas has a protection spell around my pack. Your Fae can't get in. And we won't let you just walk out of here with Selenia. If you want to leave, you need to give us information. Who was it and what did they tell you?" Max asks, his Alpha aura making everyone else shift from the power.
"Are you threatening us?" Jereth asks, his eyes narrowing in on Max. I look down at Sear's hands and something is off. Are they...glowing?
Everything happens so quickly, I barely register what's going on. Sear uses his magic and tries to attack Max. The blast was so powerful, it knocked me on my a*s. Something hits off my head hard, but I just ignore it. All I saw was Silas pull Max out of the way, protecting him from getting hurt. Suddenly, the ground shakes and I hear Jereth and Sear yelling. Smoke and dust fill the air and I can't see a thing. The air is thick, making me cough.
"Max!" I hear Kaden and Devin yell. I stand up and try to find my way around. I take a step and collide with someone much smaller than me. I grab them and steady them. I feel hands on my
arms.
"Who is this? Is this Blake?" I hear Reef's voice.
"Yeah. Reef? When did you get out here? Where's Atlas?" I ask.
"Probably inside, fuming about how I ran off. I heard Sear was here. I came to see what was happening and got here as they attacked. I couldn't just do nothing." Reef says.
"What do you mean?" I ask as the dust starts to clear. I start to see my brothers and Silas. I pull Reef close to me, not wanting him to get hurt if Sear tries that again. I don't need Atlas or Selenia pissed at me for not keeping him safe.
"Easy there, big guy. Don't want Atlas to rip your head off." Reef jokes.
"As if. He can try all he wants. I'm just trying to keep you safe." I say.
"Pretty sure I'm the one that just saved all your asses." Reef says. I look up to where Sear and Jereth were standing and my jaw drops.
Sear and Jereth are on their knees, their hands behind their backs. Tree roots from the ground have come through the dirt and wrapped themselves around the two of them, holding them in place so they can't move. Their hands are stuck behind their backs.
"You did this?" I ask Reef.
"I know you've seen Selenia's magic before. Don't act so surprised." Reef laughs.
"If it's that easy to restrain him, how has he managed to terrorize so many people?" Max asks, finally standing.
"He's standing on dirt and you had his attention. He was focused on you and Silas. He didn't even know I was here. Sear likes to make his army do all the dirt work. They burn villages to the ground before the inhabitants even know the Fire Fae have arrived. And they make sure they outnumber the village by at least double. Sear may have his fire made from nothing, but he's outnumbered here. He doesn't have his army to protect him like he thought he did." Reef says, looking at Sear. He looks pissed.
The door behind us opens quickly and Atlas appears.
"Are you f*g kidding me? I turn my back for two seconds and you disappear? What the hell happened out here? Are you hurt?" Atlas asks Reef, looking him over.
"He actually just saved all our asses from being burnt to a crisp." Devin tells Atlas. Atlas looks around to Sear and Jereth before looking back to Reef.
"Okay, that's enough excitement. I don't need you passing out like Selenia." Atlas says. "She marked two people. I only marked you. I feel fine. A little hungry, but otherwise fine." Reef says, walking away with Atlas. I look over to Max and he gives me a knowing look.
"Go to your mate. We can deal with these fuckers. I'm sure Silas can help us transport them without letting them use their magic." Max says. I nod before jogging after Atlas and Reef. I
catch up to them and Atlas turns to me.
"She's fine. She's awake with Rhett. She asked for you." Atlas tells me.
"Thanks, Atlas." I pat him on the shoulder before taking off for the clinic. I know that's where
my mom would have taken her.
~Rhett~
Selenia is so tired. She shouldn't have gotten out of bed, but our emotions were keeping her up. She felt how angry and Worried Blake and I were and she came to find us. She was worried
about us.
She refuses to go back to sleep until Blake shows up. I tried mind-linking him, but his block was up. I'm not sure what happened, but Blake only does that if he really has to, when he needs to focus. Which means something set him on edge that made him think he needs to watch everything going on. I know he's not hurt because Selenia would feel it if he was, so he better be on his way here.
Just as I'm thinking it, Blake walks through the door. Selenia sits up when she sees him.
"Blake." She whispers. Her eyebrows furrow as her eyes go wide.
"I'm here, love." Blake says, but I know that's not what she means.
"What the hell happened to you?" I ask. Blake looks at me with a strange look before turning to
look in the mirror hanging on the wall.
"Oh, f**k." Blake says at his appearance. His once black clothes are covered in dust, his hair is a mess and has dust in it, his face has a mix of dust and blood.
"What happened out there? Why are you bleeding and dirty?" Selenia asks him, reaching for his hand. He takes it and moves closer to her.
"I didn't even know I was bleeding. No one else said anything." Blake says. "Okay, but how did it happen and what's all this dust? What happened after I left?" I ask.
"Sear and Jereth got pissy, trying to stake claim over Selenia. Silas told them he has the pack under his protection with some sort of spell that blocks people coming in through the borders, which I didn't even know about, but Max wasn't surprised, so Max probably knew about it. So basically, Sear's army is stuck out there and has no way of coming in to attack. Sear and Jereth found out about us being marked and mated and revealed that someone from our pack has been giving them information. Max demanded to know who and said they couldn't leave until they spill. Sear felt threatened, I guess, and attacked." Blake explains to us.
"What do you mean he attacked? Is everyone okay?" I ask, standing up. "Yeah, he was aiming for Max I guess, but Silas pulled him out of the way of the blast. Then the ground shook and dust was everywhere. I got hit in the head when I was knocked on my a*s. I couldn't see a thing, but it must've been a rock or something. Hit me harder than I thought it did, I guess. Then Reef bumps into me. Atlas isn't anywhere around, so I'm then worried for Reef's safety because we literally just got attacked. But then, as the dust clears, I see our brothers and Silas. Then I saw Sear and Jereth. They were on their knees tied up by tree roots
coming from the ground." Blake says.
"Reef." Selenia says with a smile. "Reef did that? He was able to take them down that easily?" I ask, confused.
"Reef basically said Sear's attention was elsewhere, so it was easier. Also, Sear tends to make
his army do a lot of the 'taking over villages' thing and makes them do it when the village isn't expecting it. Sear just had himself and Jereth, and Jereth didn't attack." Blake says.
"He didn't?" Selenia asks, looking relieved.
"No, he didn't. Just Sear did. Max and Silas are taking care of them. I think they're being put in
the dungeons." Blake tells us.
"Good. We need to know who is person is who is betraying us. And we need to find out if
Jereth's story is true." I say.
"It is." Selenia says. We both look down at her. "I heard his entire story. About how he got his magic late and accidentally burned me, right where my scar is. I felt his emotions. He was being truthful. And once he said his name, I recognized it immediately. Before they were killed, my grandparents had a picture of a little boy in their room. My parents hated the picture, but Grandma always waved them off. I remember asking about the boy and who it was. My grandma told me the boy's name was Jereth. When I asked more questions, Grandma always said 'you'll understand more when you're older. After they were all killed, everything in their house was destroyed, but I never forgot that picture and how protective of it my grandparents were. Now I understand. He was their grandson and they missed him. And my parents just left him with strangers. Abandoned him. Jereth is my brother."
I run my finger across Selenia's cheek, wiping the tears coming from her eyes. She looks up at
both of us.
"Okay, so you have a brother. But he's still dangerous. We need to keep him in the cell until we know what to do." I say.
"Can I visit him? I want to talk to him myself." Selenia asks. I look up at Blake. We both sigh in
agreement. "Eventually, yes. You can go see him. But not today. You need time to rest. We're both here now.
Why don't you sleep?" Blake says and Selenia nods. She lays down and closes her eyes. Before long, she's out cold.
Blake looks up at me from across the bed. "Jereth wants her to leave with him. Says she needs
to be with her family."
"We are her family." I say.
"I know that. I told him that. But he's convinced she will want to be with her brother, get to
know him and stuff." Blake says.
"Knowing her, she probably will want to know him." I sigh. "I can see the gears working in your
head. What are you thinking?"
"I think Sear is unstable. He just wants what was promised to him. He talked about Selenia like she was property to own. But Jereth called her his sister, called her Selenia. She's a person
in
his mind. Maybe we can reason with him, get him to see she's safe here. Assure him he can visit her anytime, or even stay here. Obviously we have to talk to Max about this first since it is his decision. But Jereth seems to just want to be with his sister. I think he just told Sear he was
okay with him marrying her because he wanted his sister back and Sear is his only family. He
didn't mention Laurel or the contract marriage when he was talking to me. Just kept saying Selenia is his sister, his family. I think we can get through to him." Blake says.
"We can talk to Max tomorrow after Selenia sees Jereth. We can get a better feel for how he is
with her and then we can make a case with Max." I say.
"Sounds good." Blake says. We both relax into the chairs around Selenia's bed. Before long, I feel myself drifting off to sleep.
