Fated to a Fae Chapter 4

~Blake~

"Are you f**cking kidding me?" Kaden says.

"Nope, if that b***h has to start coming to family dinners, I'm going to snap on her and her nasily voice," Devin says.

"I swear, if he did something that stupid and that's the reason he missed this trip, I'm going to kill him with my bare hands." Max says.

"There's a lot of hostility going around right now. I'm assuming none of you like this Nicole girl." Selenia says to me.

"She's been a problem for awhile. She makes my brother do a lot of dumb s**t like miss training and meetings. And she's been nagging him about being chosen mates for a long time." I tell her.

"She also slept around and tried to do this with every guy she was with before Rhett fell for it." Devin says.

"She sounds like not a nice person." Selenia says.

"She's rude and tries to boss people around like she's better than everyone. She once tried to tell Kaden what to do. That didn't go over well." Max says.

"But you are the Beta. Aren't you second in command? No one can boss you around except Alpha Maxton." Selenia says. I laugh.

"You'd think that's true, but not even Max can boss Kaden around. It's because of the uncle- brother dynamic. The only people who boss Kaden around are Aubrey and Mercury." Devin says. Selenia just blinks at him.

"I have so many questions about what you just said." She says.

"Alright. I'm about to give you the quickest history lesson of your life." Devin says, and I just know Selenia is not going to remember any of what he's about to say. "Elliot and Arthur are twins. They took over Red River pack from their father 23 years ago. They banished their father, Garret, because he attacked Arthur for not following tradition. A year later, Mercury was kidnapped and escaped. She stumbled into Red River pack. Elliot and Arthur are both Mercury's mate. Mercury is also a caster. Mercury's birth mother, who did not raise her, was from an enemy pack and this pack wanted Mercury for themselves. They hired a rogue pack to help them get her. Turns out the rogue pack was led by none other than Garret. Garret found a new mate and had another son named Kaden. Yes, this Kaden. There was a big fight, people were killed and other people almost died, like Arthur. But it all ended okay. Garret was dead and his new mate was presumed dead. Mercury, Arthur and Elliot took in Kaden because he was only two months old. Mercury found out she was pregnant with a baby. That baby turned out to be Maxton. Maxton was born a couple of months before Kaden's first birthday. They were raised together as brothers, even though Kaden is technically Maxton's uncle. Mercury popped out two more boys, Blake and Rhett, who are twins. Flash forward to four years ago. Maxton asks Kaden to be his Beta and me to be his Gamma and we all find our mates. More s**t goes down, Rhett and Blake are kidnapped with Kaden's mate, Aubrey. Rhett almost dies, but a warlock saves him. Kaden's bio mom and Mercury's kidnapper from years ago are the culprits. They all die and we live happily ever after."

Selenia looks at me. Her eyes are wide for all the information that was just said.

"Yeah, without getting into too much detail, that's pretty much it." I say.

"Without getting into detail?! I feel like I just lived through that whole thing. How much more detail is there?" Selenia says. I laugh.

"A lot. There are people and side stories who were not mentioned that played a big role into the bigger story. I'll tell you the more detailed se other time. Cause it will take awhile." I say. Selenia blows out a breath.

"Wow, okay." She says. Just then, Silas comes around the corner.

"What is everyone doing in the hallway?" Silas asks us. He looks at Selenia and I and shakes his head. "Of course, she's your mate. You need to move away from the hallway. Laurel will be coming soon and he can't see you together." Silas rushes us away. Max gives me a look. He's going to be pissed.

We get to a large room. It looks like they hold meetings here, as there is a long table to seat many people, but not like a dining table. It's definitely a meeting room. Silas turns to us when he closes the door. He looks at me.

"Seven billion people on earth and you find yourself mated to a betrothed Greythrorn. Blake, you and that twin of yours are going to be the death of me." Silas says.

"Wait, hold on. Betrothed? You're getting married?" Max asks her. Selenia shrugs.

"I just found out this morning. And Laurel didn't even tell me himself. He sent Reef to tell me." Selenia says. Everyone looks over at Reef. He freezes from the sudden attention.

"I can't do anything about it. I mean, he did ask me if I wanted to marry her first." Reef says. Atlas growls. Wait, are they...?

Reef smiles at Atlas. "I said no because Selenia is like a sister to me. I didn't know he was going to promise her to Sear right after I gave my answer. It was like he was giving me first dibs. Makes me sick, how he treats her like property to give away. He treats all the girls like that." Reef says.

"We've known people like that." Kaden says. His jaw ticks and I know he's thinking of Ivan and Hudson. They treated Aubrey and I like items to be sold to the first pervert who wanted us. And, of course, my mother.

"Well, can't we just tell him Selenia is Blake's mate? What's there to lose? Unless this arranged marriage is for money, what is Laurel gaining?" Devin asks. Selenia grabs my arm.

"Protection. And partnership." Reef says. Everyone looks back him. "Sear Darkvale is one of the most powerful fae known in the last hundred years. He's a Fire fae and doesn't care about pushing his magic past it's limits, regardless of the consequences, which makes him even more dangerous. He wants Selenia because of her gift. And because she's a Greythorn."

"Greythorn? What's that?" I ask.

"It's my family name. I'm the only one left. My family was killed." Selenia says.

"Greythorns have been around since before warlocks were wiped out. They're very strong Earth fae, known for their incredible powers and gifts." Silas says.

"Wait, you are all Earth fae? How is that possible? Can't you be born as any element, even if both parents are the same?" Max asks. Selena sighs.

"Yeah, that part of my family history I'm not particularly proud of. I think that's why the fire tribe took out my family." Selenia says, "If a baby was born and wasn't an Earth fae, they were abandoned. Usually dropped off on the border of the nearest village of their element. It got so bad that most orphaned babies were presumed to be from Greythorn blood. The parents would just keep trying till they got their Earth fae child."

The room goes silent. No one really knows what to say after that.

Atlas blows out a breath. "I'll be the first to say it. That's f****d up." Reef turns to him and glares at him.

"She knows. And Selenia is not like that." He says through his teeth. Atlas holds up his hands. He mouths the word sorry and Reef relaxes. They are definitely mates.

"Okay. So we fixed one problem. Laurel doesn't want Silas dead anymore, but now Blake is mated to the girl Silas wanted to marry off to a powerful Fire fae for protection. Perfect." Max

says.

"I'm sorry. This is all my fault." Selenia says. I look down at her.

"Don't apologize. This isn't your fault." I say.

"You didn't ask for this, Selenia. Laurel is the one making all the decisions." Reef says. Selenia

nods while a tear streams down her face. I wipe it away.

"We can figure this out." I say.

"I'm too much trouble for you. I don't want to anger Laurel." Selenia says.

"Selenia," Reef starts, but Selenia shakes her head.

"I'm sorry. I can't." Selenia says before running out of the room.I try to grab her, but Silas holds

me back.

"Let go of me." I growl at him. Silas sighs.

"I think this is just a lot for her. Let her cool off. Maybe let Reef talk to her." Silas says. I grind

my teeth together.

"She's my mate. What can he do that I can't?" I say.

"Reef has known her all her life. He knows her. You don't. Not yet, at least." Max says.

"I can talk to her. I know what she's feeling." Reef says. I glare at him. "Blake, you need to back off. I know it's hard. You think it was easy for Devin and I to see that Aubrey and Kai just understood each other? It's because they were from the same pack and grew up together. This is the exact same thing. You can comfort her after." Kaden says to me. It pisses me off, but he's right. I sigh and nod to Reef. He looks at Atlas before leaving. After he leaves, Max tells me he needs to go. He's supposed to meet Laurel for lunch with Silas. He said he'll bring up Selenia when they sit down together. Maybe they can come to an understanding. I nod and everyone but Atlas leaves. I turn to him.

"So. You and Reef?" I ask. Atlas's face goes red.

"Yeah. He's my mate. I think he was surprised. He said he's never been with anyone before, so

he didn't know he was attracted to guys." Atlas says.

"Maybe he's like you. What did you call it? Your swing is all over the place?" I laugh and Atlas

joins.

"Yeah, it was. Now it's just him." Atlas says.

"I get it. I feel the same. I mean, it's not like I've been with anyone before. But I just want her." I

say.

"And Flynn says Rhett isn't her mate?" Atlas asks.

"He just said not to worry about him. He said I have Selenia all to myself." I tell him.

"Man, I didn't think Rhett would do something like that. He's always said he doesn't like her

that much. Why would he mark Nicole?" Atlas asks.

"Maybe he never let on how much he actually liked her because of us. He knows we don't like

her. He probably just hid it." I say.

"But now he can't." Atlas says. "Yeah. And he's going to have to live with his decision." I say. Atlas sighs.

"Well, enough about that dumbass. Let's go find our mates, shall we?" Atlas says. I give him a

small smile.

"Yeah, let's go."

~Reef~

I find Selenia in the forest. I knew she'd come here. She always does when she's upset or angry. I walk up behind her and wrap my arms around her. She leans back into me and sighs.

"I can't do this, Reef. I have to marry Sear. It will cause a war between the Fire and the Earth

tribes if we back out after Laurel told him yes. I have to tell Blake I can't be his mate." Selenia

says.

"I know you are in a tough spot right now. But if you are meant to be with Blake, I think you should at least try. Let Laurel deal with Sear. It's his fault for jumping the gun." I say.

"You know Laurel won't let me off that easily." Selenia says.

"Then just leave." I say. Selenia turns to me.

"What do you mean, just leave?" She asks me.

"Atlas told me I'm his mate. I feel this strong connection to him too. And when he kissed me..." I

think back to when he pulled me out of the room to give Blake and Selenia a minute. I couldn't stand not knowing what this pull was. I grabbed his hand and felt this electricity flow between us. It was amazing. Atlas looked at me shocked, but then pulled me in to kiss me. And it was officially the best thing that has ever happened to me. I could kiss him all day. "Anyway, my point is, Atlas asked me to come back with him. I know fae don't normally leave their village, but I thought about it and I want to be with him. I'm going to go back with them when they leave later tonight."

"What?! You're leaving?! Why? Why can't he stay here?" Selenia asks. I smile at her.

"I didn't ask him to. This is no place for a werewolf. Laurel has always told us werewolves are beasts who kill anyone and anything. The fae look down on werewolves. Atlas wouldn't be welcomed here. He'd be outcast by the village. But I'd be welcomed in their pack." I tell her. "You don't know that." Selenia says.

"Yes, I do. Before Alpha Maxton, their pack had two Alphas. Atlas said their mate is a caster.

She was welcomed with open arms by the entire pack. Devin told you about her. She's Blake's

mother. She has magic, like us. It's not the same magic, but she'd understand us. And Silas lives there occasionally. Atlas said he comes and goes as he pleases, but he is there often. He's a warlock. Another person of magic. They have many different species in their pack. What's one

more?" I say. Selenia stares at me, shaking her head.

"You are crazy." She says.

"Maybe. But if I'm meant to be with Atlas, I'm going to be

nim. I don't even know him yet

and he already makes me happy. Just him being near me puts me in a better mood." I say. "Glad to know I already have such an effect on you."

I turn around to find Atlas and Blake have caught up to us. I smile at the sight of his face. How

can one person be so handsome?

Blake walks up to Selenia as Atlas grabs my hand. He pulls me away from them as they begin to talk. When we are a bit further away, he wraps me into a hug. He makes me feel so small. I mean, I'm not short by any means. I'm average height at 5'10. I think I might even be taller than Alpha Maxton's Gamma, Devin. But Atlas is easily 6'2. And much more muscular. I am a fae warrior, but that's because I'm strong with magic, not physically strong. Atlas could crush me

like a twig if we were to fight in hand combat. Something I've never done. "What are you thinking about?" Atlas asks me, looking down at me.

"How strong you must be with all these muscles." I mutter lowly so that he doesn't hear me.

Atlas chuckles and my face goes red. "You heard that?"

"Werewolf hearing. It's a lot stronger than you think. I can hear a twig falling off a tree a mile from here." Atlas says.

"I can't believe you heard me say that." I cover my face. He pulls my hands away.

"Don't be embarrassed. I worked hard for these muscles. I'm glad you like them." Atlas says,

flexing his arm. I smile at him.

"I like them a lot. I'm not very strong. We weren't taught that kind of stuff. Only magic." I say. "Well, that probably makes you stronger than me." Atlas says, and I blush.

"I don't know. It's not the same kind of magic as Silas. I can't do the stuff he can." I say.

"Don't put yourself down. I'm sure you are amazing. And I can't wait for you to show me what you can do." Silas says, pulling my face closer to him by my chin. I suck in a breath, enjoying the feeling of his touch. I look down at his lips and he smiles before claiming my lips. I melt into him, holding onto his shirt. How can this feel so good? I barely know Atlas and all I want to do is kiss him all the time. It's like I need him to live. How is this possible? I have no idea, but I'm going along with it.
