The Twin Alphas’ Fated Mate
Fate of the Forsaken Brother Chapter 8

~Kaden-

After the ceremony, Max says we should go over and talk to Austen. We walk over to the stage and I look to see if I can find Aubrey. I see a group of people surrounding Austen, Andrew, and Nick, congratulating them on becoming the pack's new ranked members. We stand off to the side and wait for the right time to go up to them.

When a group walks away, Max walks up to Austen, congratulating him and making small talk. I see Nick turn around and say something to someone. Aubrey appears beside him as Nick puts his arm around his waist. It makes Galahad crazy seeing him touch her like that. It pisses me off. I look at Aubrey's face and she's staring at me. I look back down at Nick's arm and back up at her. I think she understood that I didn't like him touching her because she nods at me and steps away from Nick. Nick looks at her confused but Andrew pulls his attention away because of something Max said. They all start laughing and I motion for Aubrey to follow me. She comes up beside me and grabs my hand. The sparks from the ate bond instantly flow through the touch and it surprises me for a second. I didn't think it'd feel like this. It's much stronger than I imagined it to be. I don't think I'll ever get used to feeling this. All I know is now that I've felt it, I don't want it to stop.

People are standing to dance on the dancefloor. A slower song comes up and I pull Aubrey out to dance with me. I turn to face her, putting my hand on her waist, and hold my other hand out for her to take. She steps into me and we start to move. She's so small and delicate. I feel like I'd break her if I spin her too fast.

"Are you going to say anything?" Aubrey asks. Goddess, her voice is amazing. I could listen to her talk for hours.

"I'm sorry about running away from you earlier." I say to her. She smiles a sad smile.

"Were you disappointed? Am I not what you were expecting?" Aubrey asks.

"No, it's nothing like that! You are...beautiful. Honestly, you're better than what I could've hoped for. I just wasn't expecting to meet you. Like at all." I say. Aubrey gives me a confused look.

"What do you mean you weren't expecting to meet me? Did you not think you had a mate?" "I mean I didn't think I'd have a second chance mate." I say. Aubrey's eyes go wide.

"Oh, I see. Um...okay." Aubrey takes a breath and stops moving. I stop too. Aubrey turns away from me. "If you don't think I'd be as good as she was, then just tell me now to save us both the trouble."

What? What is she talking about? Does she think I was actually with her? Does she think my first mate died?

"Aubrey, my first mate isn't dead. She rejected me." I say quietly. Aubrey turns around. I look down at the ground, feeling ashamed that I have to tell her this.

"What? Why?" Aubrey asks.

"Jaclyn met my brother first. She wanted to be with him so that he would make her Luna. When we met, she rejected me right away and told my brother she would rather be with him." I tell her. "I accepted the rejection because what else was I supposed to do? My brother then told her to leave and that he didn't want to be with her. They weren't even dating in the first place, she just clung to him. But yeah, I was never with her and she was horrible to me in the five minutes I actually spoke to her. I ran from you because I was scared you'd do the same thing."

"That's horrible. I can't believe she did that to you." Aubrey says, stepping closer to me. "I didn't want to reject you when I saw you. I thought you were the most handsome man I'd ever laid eyes on. All I wanted to do was run to you, but you seemed uncomfortable, so I stayed back until you looked at me. But you avoided me. I was hurt at first, angry even because I thought you just didn't like me. But if you had told me this earlier, I would've assured you I would never do to you what this Jaclyn girl did. You're my mate." Aubrey grabs my hands. I look up at her and she's smiling at me. She looks so beautiful right now, I just can't help myself. I grab her and pull her into me. I lean down and claim her lips with mine. The instant I do, it's like complete ecstasy. The sparks that flow through the bond are like nothing I've dreamed of. I can't get enough of her. f**k, I'm already falling hard for her just after a few small words. She's what I've been missing my whole life and I won't let her go after tonight.

~Maxton~

I noticed that Kaden had taken off with Aubrey. I didn't know where they went till Dev nudged me to point them out on the dance floor. They're dancing. They look good together, but Kaden still looks troubled. I don't think he's told her yet.

"Is that your beta dancing with my sister?" Andrew asks me.

"Uh, yes it is." I answer, hoping this won't cause a scene. I look at Andrew and he looks canfused, but I don't think he'll say anything. Not right now at least. I look back over at Kaden and they've stopped dancing. They're just standing talking to each other. Crap, I think he's telling her about Jaclyn. He looks like he's about to cry and Aubrey looks...shocked I think? Aubrey steps closer to him. Goddess, I wish I could hear what they're saying, but the music is too loud, even with our wolf hearing.

Just then, Nick steps up beside me and Devin.

"What's my girlfriend doing with your beta, Maxton?" Nick asks me. Crap, this could turn bad. I look at Devin, hoping he can think of anything to say.

"Well, they were dancing, but now they're talking." Devin says. I roll my eyes. Way to state the obvious, genius. I'm about to explain to Nick what's going on when Kaden pulls Aubrey in and kisses her. And not just any kiss. One that says he's been waiting desprately for this moment. My jaw drops. I look at Devin and he's got a huge smile on his face. I can't help but smile too.

"What the f**k?!" Nick says loudly. He makes a move to go over there, but I stop him by grabbing his shoulder. "Get off me. Your beta just kissed my girlfriend!"

"Nick, I think you know what that means. He wouldn't just do that." Austen says, coming up to us. Nick looks at him confused, but then realizes what he means. Nick scoffs.

"They're mates. That's why she pulled away from me earlier. He was jealous. Got it." Nick nods and walks away. I give Austen an apologetic look but he just shrugs.

"I told them on her 18th birthday to prepare for this to happen. They were both upset when they weren't mated, but they decided to keep dating, against me telling them it was a bad idea. I knew this would happen eventually." Austen says and I nod. That's exactly why I never wanted to date. I never wanted to get too attached only to find out they're not my mate. To avoid this. "Well, I guess that means we're kind of brothers now." Andrew says to me and I laugh. "You know Kaden isn't actually my brother, right?" I say.

"He's not? Could've fooled me. You guys could pass for twins." Andrew says.

"That's cause we're still related. Kaden is technically my uncle, even though he's less than a year older than me. My dads were 21 when Kaden was born. We were raised together by my

parents."

"Oh s**t. Really? That's cool." Andrew says, but then he makes a weird face. "Wait, is Kaden the baby that was saved by Luna Mercury? Red River pack, right? Kaden, the infamous rogue prince." Andrew laughs.

"Yeah, Kaden was saved by my mom, Luna Mercury. But, what do you mean rogue prince?" I ask.

I glance at Devin and he looks just as confused as me.

"Oh, you know the rumors. There are still people who think Kaden is the rightful Alpha of the rogue pack." Andrew says.

"There is no more rogue pack, though. They're dead." Devin says.

"Maybe not offically. But over half of the rogue pack was rumoured to have escaped that day, including the family of Garret's second mate, Kaden's family from his mom's side. It was mostly Henry and Lyle's pack that were wiped out. As long as there are pack members out there, pack's not really dead, is it?" Andrew shugs and goes to join Austen. What the hell? The rogue

pack is still out there?

~Unknown~

I overheard the new beta talking to that filthy young alpha Maxton about Kaden. What are the chances that Kaden is here at the same time as me? Now is the time for me to go to him. He must know. I motion for my men to block the young alpha from seeing Kaden. They move onto the dance floor and I follow, making sure to not be seen. That's when I see him. He's dancing with a pretty young girl. The way he looks at her makes me think this must be his mate. She's not marked, which is good. He will need to choose a new mate.

I walk over to Kaden quickly. He sees me coming as he eyes me questioningly. I smile to show I don't mean harm.

"Hello, Kaden. May I speak with you privately?" I ask him. He looks down at the girl and she

nods to him.

"Alright, I'll be back." Kaden says to her, kissing her on the cheek. He then follows me off the dancefloor, towards the packhouse. Once inside, I lead him into the sitting room off the

entrance and shut the door.

"What's this about?" Kaden asks me. I turn to look at him. He looks so much like Garret. But

those eyes. I can never forget those eyes. Sister.

"I'm Alpha Jerald Godfery of Black Creek pack." I say.

"I'm Kaden Anderson, but you already knew that somehow. I've never heard of Black Creek

pack." Kaden says to me.

"Actually, your last name isn't just Anderson. That's just a lie your half-brothers told you. Your last name is actually Godfrey-Anderson. Your mother, Tonya, wanted you to have bother her last name and Garret's last name. She may have been Luna, but she was never very fond of Garret. As for my pack's name, that's new. We didn't really have a name before."

"Wait, you knew my birth mother? And I have the same last name as you? Are we related somehow?" Kaden asks.

"Tonya was my sister. Your half-brothers killed her." I say.

"I know that. They told me what happened that day. They didn't say there were survivors, though." Kaden says, eyeing me suspisously.

"Yes, well they didn't realize quite a few of us ran when they were all worried about Arthur

bleeding out. It made for an easy get away. Over half the rogue pack escaped. I took over because you were gone and both Garret and Tonya had died. I renamed the pack Black Creek so that other alphas wouldn't raise a red flag when I tried to make alliences. But I made a vow

to the pack that when I found you, I'd bring you home and teach you to become the alpha." I

tell him.

"Are you crazy? That pack caused so much trouble for my family, and for me growing up. Everyone called me a traitor because of Garret." Kaden says.

"Don't you think being at a pack that respects you and where you come from would be better? This pack loved Garret. And they'll love you. It's your birthright, Kaden." I say. Kaden thinks about this for a minute. Then his eyes go cloudy. His filthy alpha nephew must be mind-linking

him.

"Maxton is looking for me. I have to go." Kaden says.

"That's fine. Just think about what I said." Kaden starts walking to the door, but I call out to him. "Oh, and Kaden? Our pack is run a bit more...traditonally. Ranked members are arranged mates based on who would be a better fit. So I wouldn't get too attached to that girl if I were

you."

Kaden doesn't look happy about what I just said. He's glaring at me.

"If you think I'm going to give up my mate and the family that raised and cared for me, you're delustional. Go to hell." Kaden leaves the room, slamming the door behind him. He's got his mother's temper. I smirk to myself. He'll come around. He just might need a little...motivation.
