ROSE'S POV

Like it or not, I have to stay here.

Not because I was beginning to feel heartless or less sorry toward the Alpha King but because I was scared of the blood oath that I brought up in the first place thinking it would work in my favor.

On the contrary, the oath has become the only reason I am unable to escape my a*****e of a mate. Again, I miss my mom. So much.

"Why are you so stiff."

Alpha King Josh complained as he pulled me toward where I was supported to get my training kits. The reason I accepted to go to the training field with him was because I felt the need to feel closer to my mom and training was one way to feel her.

The first and last person I trained with was my mom. She believed that I had so much potential. She believed in me. My mom would be so disappointed if she was to see what or who I had become after her demise.

Alpha King Josh was being sweet even though he had a strange way of showing that he cared about me. He had established that fact many times. He could as well be the only living person that had cared for me ever since my mom died. What do I do with this man?

I couldn't kill myself. That would make me a failure and I wouldn't be able to face my mom in the afterworld.

"Snap out of it, Rose, and watch the stairs." Alpha King Josh raised his voice but I saw the gentleness in his eyes as he spoke to me and helped me descend the stairs that led us to a dark pathway.

Stranger, I trusted him as he led me through the darkness. Although my sight adjusted quickly thanks to my wolf abilities, I felt safe with this man and let him lead me.

Could it be the sex?

But I have seen Alpha Richard treating the maids he had sex with badly. He used to treat them like trash despite their sexual relationship with him. However? The Alpha King was different.

"Is he taking you shopping? Could this passageway lead to a garage with luxurious cars?"

Cali's imagination ran wide but I wasn't excited about a shopping spree at this time. Alpha Richard's eyes and ears could be anywhere. I needed to be careful at all times... For as long as I remained here.

Eventually, Alpha King Josh pulled me into a brighter space. I realized we had passed through a passageway that led to the warriors changing room.

The palace was built strategically, I must say.

The moment we entered the changing room which was divided into three parts; The general area where both males and females sit to pass time, the female changing room, and the male changing room, I became aware of how weird my appearance was but fortunately for me, there was no one in sight... Until a beautiful blond girl strolled out of the female changing room like she controlled the entire place.

Can I hide?

I was always confident in my looks but not now. I was a beauty that Alpha Richard had used to build fame for himself but at the moment, I felt like a broken soul.

"Hey, Nora." Alpha King Josh chimed excitedly... Like he was very happy to see her. Well, he expressed his happiness within two seconds as he added, "I am so happy to see that you are back to training."

Yuck!

I rolled my eyes but coincidentally, Nora's eyes shifted to Alpha King Josh's and I joined hands. Her blue eyes burned holes into my hands as she glared at it.

I caught her and I perceived jealousy but she was quick to mask her feelings. Her glare was replaced by a heart melting smile that made my jaw drop in disbelief.

The switch was fast. No doubt, this female was a snake.

"Thank you for caring about my health, My King."

Nora, as Alpha King Josh called her, twisted like the snake she was as she responded sweetly. Her manicured nails snaked across her curvy body as she spoke. I hated her already. But why?

"Because she was created to be hated."

Cali snarled within me, causing the truth to sink into me- we were jealous. K was Jealous and Cali was equally jealous.

What!

What the hell is going on with me?

"The question is, what the hell is she doing? And why is he smiling at her like that? Your face is the only face he is allowed to stare at and smile at like that!"

My wolf beast fired within me, causing rage to build within me. I snatched my hand from Josh's hold and glared at him when he looked my way.

Stupidly, he assumed I was glaring at him because he hadn't introduced me to Nora. Alpha King Josh said, "Rose meet Nora, the best female Warrior in Northern Territory." He lowered his voice as he added, "Although she has awards to support my claim, don't tell anyone I said that."

Nora laughed at Alpha King's attempt to flatter her but I rolled my eyes,

"And Nora, meet Rose..."

Alpha King Josh said simply. Just Rose? I didn't hold any titles or awards.

"What a time to forget to call you his girlfriend."

Cali said to ms and although I didn't like it when he called me his girlfriend in the past and when we were alone, I would have liked to hear him say it now... In public and before the so-called best female warrior.

"Hello, Rose." Nora greeted nicely but she ruined her nice tone when she added, "Why are you so red? Are you alright?"

My fists balled. I struggled to control my emotion which was a mystery. I had never felt this way even with the maid that had been sleeping with Alpha Richard for years. I didn't know the kind of relationship the Alpha King had with Nora yet I already hated it. I faked a smile, imitating Nora, and responded, "I am alright, Nora." I chipped in, "Roses are red. Naturally."

Alpha King Josh seemed to get the meaning of my response. He chuckled but Nora seemed lost. She missed the point of the reply and I couldn't care less about her boneheadedness.

The Alpha King checked his watch and voiced, "We are running late for training. Nora, kindly show Rose to the female warriors' uniform room. While you are at it, help her find her size. I will be waiting here for you both."

"Of course, My King."

Nora responded, bowed to the Alpha King, and ushered me towards the female changing room which was on the right side. I didn't spare Alpha King Josh another look before following Nora.

We entered the changing room but she led me deeper to another door. She opened it, saying, "This is where you will find a training uniform. You won't be as lucky as getting something like mine because I had this made specifically for me. Good luck getting your size."

There was something about the way she said, "Good luck getting your size." ur sin fed like she was making fun of my underweight body. I was less curvy compared to her. She also has a fit body unlike me who hasn't been training.

I ignored her words and said, "Won't you help?"

Nora eyed me like I was being delusional, "Why will I help you get a uniform? Do I know you? Are we friends?"

"No to the two questions." I answered because we definitely aren't friends. "But the Alpha King told you to help since we are late and he would be waiting-"

"Then get moving and don't keep him waiting, Rose..." Nora retorted rudely, dragging my name as she pronounced it.

"I am not surprised." I said as I entered the unfamiliar room.

Alpha King Josh would have followed me here if this place wasn't designed for females only. Perhaps it's a good thing he is outside. I might have sniffed life out of him here... For being too nice to this bitchy ass blond warrior. "What did you say to me?"

Nora asked, obviously looking for a fight and I gave it to her without hesitating.

"I said I am not surprised. The prettiest ones have always been the meanest and most fake." I declared. "You, Nora, happen to fit well into this category."

She flared up and balled her fists, "Don't cross me, flower. I am letting you off today because the Alpha King is waiting outside for me. I am usually not this nice-"

Who would tell her that he wasn't waiting for her? Or was he?

Fùck them both!

I retorted, "I pointed that out already. Nothing surprises me after all, you are an open book of malignancy."

Nora hissed but I cut her off, "I will take this." I pulled out a random package from the shelves. "Let's hope it fits or your fashion sense or taste might be questioned by the King you are trying to impress."

"You-"

Nora gasped like a child and I smirked returning to the changing room. Unfortunately for me, the crop top and bicker shorts in the package I randomly chose, fitted me like it was made for me. It was nothing compared with Nora's body con romper but I wasn't competing with her, right?

Nora stormed out of the changing room as soon as she confirmed that my outfit was good. I exited after her and found her already chatting with Alpha King Josh.

Cali fumed, "You are definitely competing with her, Rose."

Do I have to?

Cali barked within me, "Of course, yes!"
