The Twin Alphas’ Fated Mate
The Tycoon Alpha’s Temptation Chapter 59

ALPHA KING JOSH'S POV

"She is still unconscious," Max announced into my mind like I wasn't staring at Rose's body as well.

I woke up about five minutes ago, completely free of Tamira's sleeping spell but that made me realize that I would be useless until Rose woke up as well.

Even though we were alone in my room, I could hardly get any sound from her heart. That was terrifying. I was terrified

The moon goddess seemed to be considering my request but I knew not to get my hopes up. For that reason, I decided to have Tamira come in and check Rose again. I didn't care if she just did. I simply want to be assured that Rose would be fine.

I took Rose's hand as I stretched the mindlink to the Healers clinic. I thought of bringing Judy in but I also knew my command would be resisted according to the traditions. So I settled for Tamira.

Max etched, "She is good as well. I mean, she knocked you out for hours."

Right.

Before I could respond to my wolf beast, I heard footsteps approaching and my nostrils picked up Adam's scent and anxiety as he drew closer to my room. Within a minute, he pushed the door opened and his gaze fell on me.

I felt the heat of his gaze but I didn't acknowledge his presence. My eyes remained on Rose's unexpressive face as I hoped for a sudden miracle.

"Good to see you awake, My King," Adam uttered.

Again, I ignored him.

"I have so much to report to you, Alpha King. Can we talk in the library?" Adam questioned. Yet, I ignored him.

He signed, obviously irritated by my negligence but he knew better than to disrespect me.

"I know how you feel and I also understand that-"

I cut in, "Do you though?"

My question made Adam quiet but that silence only lasted for a few seconds. He never knew when to give up.

"Fine. I don't." Adam responded eventually. "But I do know that the territory and its inhabitants need their Alpha King. you can't keep sitting by her and watching her. It was understandable when you were asleep but now-"

"Just go away, Adam. I don't want to hear it." I barked angrily.

Adam went silent and this time, it lasted longer. His feet made sounds as he took steps away from me and I thought he was retreating as he had decided to shoulder the responsibilities on my behalf.

However, Adam flopped onto the couch in my room and tapped his feet against the floor repeatedly, annoying me without saying a word.

"Stop that, Adam," I warned when I couldn't take any more of his nonsense.

"What? I am doing nothing." Adam chimed. "Should I stop doing nothing as well-"

"Why are you being so difficult this morning!" I yelled at him, finally shifting my gaze to him.

The glare I sent his way was hot enough to burn him to the ground.

Adam shrugged, "It's noon actually. You have been away from your duties at this dire time. Your brothers are definitely planning how to share your territory but yet you think staying with her is worth losing all you have worked for."

My eyes furrowed as I observed Adam's level of nonchalance. It was as if he suddenly lost humanity as long as Rose was concerned. His eyes were void of emotions and I could have sworn he was glaring at Rose's unconscious frame just like I was glaring at him.

"What is wrong with you, Adam?" I had to ask.

Adam was known to always become mean when he is trying to protect me from any evil he sensed. He and Rose had been on bad terms since he started suspecting her but he had never looked at her like she was an actual enemy.

Until now.

"He could be trying to reduce his workload," Max answered before Adam could.

If I didn't perform my duties, it sure meant more work for Adam but if anyone would understand me, it would be him. He had never complained about the tasks assigned to him even if performing them burn him out.

"I just want what's best for-" Adam's hesitation could be heard and so were his lies.

He was lying to me.

Why?

Then it suddenly clicked in my head.

"You were in Rose's room?" I asked my Beta.

I

Adam looked me straight in the eyes as he replied, "Yes. I was there and I found out she has been hiding a lot from us. I haven't confirmed but she is a black snake-"

"Adam..." I called, cautioning him. "Resist from calling her names."

"I don't understand why you keep defending her, Alpha King Josh!" Adam raised his voice, rising

to his feet. "I found the notes and I know you have read them as well. She was planted here for

crying out loud-"

I shouted at him, releasing my hold on Rose's cold hand, "You will not raise your voice at me,

Beta Adam."

That was a command.

A command he had better obeyed if he didn't want to lose his tongue.

We shouldn't be shouting... not here... not when Rose was in the same room but a small part of me hoped that the loud argument between Adam and I would bring her back to life.

Perhaps my rose would blossom again.

Adam muttered, looking at the floor with his shoulders slumped. "I apologize for my poor manners, Alpha King."

His tone sort of made me feel bad. Adam was worried about me. He was my friend as much as he was my Beta and he saw Rose as a danger... a threat to my life, my achievement, and all he and I had worked hard to build.

"Adam..." I tried to be rational and less emotional.

But Adam cut in politely, "I will refrain from bringing this matter to the table until I have enough evidence to back up my claims. I just hope it wouldn't be too late to save us all-"

"You don't have to do anything of that, Adam. I know the truth." I announced getting Adam to look at me again. "She told me everything and that's why she is at the point of death."

Adam breathed, "What is that supposed to mean?"

"It meant the Alpha King is the reason Rose is dying." Tamira's voice resonated as my bedroom door opened. "She broke the oath for you."

Even though Tamira didn't ask, I nodded, "She broke the oath for me and I couldn't save her."

"Can someone tell me what's happening? I need to understand the situation to stop losing my mind." Adam practically begged to be let into the light where Tamira and I were.

The light of truth.

"Rose was sent as a spy by Alpha Richard," I revealed.

Adam didn't wait to hear the end of it. He hissed, "I knew it! Why are we still attending to her if she is a traitor and why do you keep blaming yourself? She got what she deserve if you ask

me."

"No." I opposed. Adam shook his head but I raised my hand to stop him from saying another word. "Hear the full story before you say another word, Adam."

I might not be able to stop myself from hurting him if he said another negative word about

Rose.

So, I told my Beta the full story, and since Tamira was trusted and also Rose's doctor, I didn't hide details from her. Everything Rose told me was retold and I introduced her as the Female

Alpha she was.

By the time I was done, I believed I had been able to make Adam see Rose as who she truly was- the pitiful female that has been through so much.

However, Adam uttered blankly, "She told you all of that didn't she?"

I sighed, "Of course, she came clean, Adam. She told me the truth and broke an oath in the

process which is why she is dying."

Adam scoffed, "What if all of this has been planned to get you emotional? What if she had lied

to you and led you into a trap?"

I have had enough of him. Adam was doing too much at this point and I couldn't bear it anymore.

But he didn't read the room or he chose to ignore the obvious warning that my changing scent provided him. "For all we know, she is a lying spy that shouldn't be trusted. You shouldn't trust

her-"

"Shut your mouth, Adam!" I yelled angrily, disbelief clouding my eyes.

I was the ruthless Alpha, Adam wasn't. Where the h*ll did his feelings vanished to?

Adam tried again, "But, My King-"

"She told the truth, Beta Adam." Tamira chipped in before I could punch Adam in the face.

"Rose came clean and that's why she is dying. No one would take the risks just to achieve a

goal." Tamira

added.

I ignored Adam as he stuttered inaudibly, unable to believe his ears.

Facing Tamira, "Is there anything I can do to rectify the effect of the broken oath?" I asked.

Saving My Rose was my priority right now.

"Mom made me understand that we might have a chance to save her by giving her a reason to

stay alive," Tamira answered. Judy might have provided a solution.

But I was confused. "How do we achieve that?"

Tamira's lips parted and I anticipated her response, thinking I would do anything to save Rose.
