The Sweet Pursuit by Golden Autumn -
Chapter 233
Cassidy did not notice Zeke until she was done talking. She was slightly surprised and said, "Why are you here, Mr. Yorks?" Zeke ignored Cassidy and merely looked at Suzy pleadingly. Since Cassidy was there, Suzy could not let Zeke really kneel to her. She put away the book and notes, saying in a low voice, "Let's go. I'll go see Sherman with you." The cold sweat on Zeke's forehead dripped down the side of his face. He looked at Suzy gratefully and put his hands together while saying. "Thank you! Thank you, Ms. Shirley!" Suzy got up and said to Cassidy, "I'll be in charge of Room 8801 today, Cassidy." Cassidy hesitated and whispered, "If Mr. Laine comes..." Suzy said, "He has something to do today, so he won't be coming over." Hearing her say this, Cassidy did not say much and merely nodded. "Well, Mr. Miller has a bad temper, so be careful!"
The people in the room looked at Cassidy with a complicated gaze. They thought to themselves, 'If you had come five minutes earlier, you wouldn't have said this.'
Suzy nodded. "Sure. I got it!"
"Go now!" Zeke walked in front and made an inviting gesture, letting Suzy walk ahead. Cassidy frowned at this. What was going on with Zeke today? This young man was usually a temperamental one, but he was acting so kind at the moment. She glanced back and saw Winter leaning against the cabinet with her head lowered. Her demeanor seemed sullen. Cassidy asked her, "What's the matter with you?"
Winter was stunned for a moment. Then, she raised her head in a hurry. "I-It's nothing!"
Cassidy said, "If nothing's wrong, then get to work!"
After Cassidy left, Luna walked over to Winter and said in a low voice, "Do you see it now? With Suzy here, everyone's going through a rough time!"
There was a flicker in Winter's eyes. "I'd advise you to leave her alone. You can't afford to offend her!"
Luna's tone became gloomier. "You might be afraid of her, but I'm not. Just because of her, Mr. Leander doesn't come up to the eighth floor anymore. He doesn't dare to come looking for me. In any case, I just can't let this matter slide." Suzy took a bottle of wine and went over to Room 8801. Upon entering the door, she saw Sherman sitting in the middle of the sofa at first glance.
Sherman was also looking at her. Then, he smiled and asked Zeke who was following her from behind. "Did you kneel?"
Zeke's face turned pale, and he forced out a smile. "No."
Sherman smiled wickedly. "That's because Suzy's kind-hearted. Have you thanked her?"
Zeke immediately said to Suzy sincerely, "Thank you, Ms. Shirley!"
Suzy looked at Sherman impatiently. "What kind of trouble are you causing now?"
Sherman smiled at her innocently. "Can't I simply vent in your stead?"
Cameron winked at the people around him and said with a smile, "Come one. Let's play over there."
Everyone stood up with great discernment and gave some space to Sherman and Suzy. Some even peeked back, wanting to see what was so special about this woman that made both George Laine and Sherman Miller care so much about her. This was the first time the two met after Sherman's birthday. Suzy was not an unappreciative person either, so she merely said softly, "Thanks for today!"
Sherman raised his eyebrows. "Sit down and talk. Don't act as if I'm going to eat you up as soon as we meet. You're so great at fighting, yet you're still afraid of me doing something to
you?"
