The Sweet Pursuit by Golden Autumn -
Chapter 210
Nelly was fuming with rage from her thoughts. When she suddenly heard the man's groan, her head jolted up in an instant. She was just in time to see the man open his eyes. Their eyes met, but Nelly did not say a word. The man thought he was dreaming, and the young lady in his dream seemed a little familiar!
After being stunned for a moment, suspicion flashed across Nelly's eyes. Why was the man not moving or talking? Did she hit him too hard or had he gone blind?
She got up in a panic, raised her hand, and shook it in front of the man. Then, Nelly said carefully, "Hey, can you see me?"
James frowned and said in a hoarse voice, "I'm dizzy. Take your hand away!"
Nelly immediately withdrew her hand and breathed a sigh of relief. Well, he was neither senile nor blind, so that was good!
James felt his head spin whenever he moved it. He could only move his eyes, so he looked left and right, then asked, "Is this the hospital?"
Nelly replied, "Yes!"
James' eyes were brimming with confusion. "Why am I here?" Then, he looked at Nelly again and asked, "Why are you here?" Nelly's eyes widened slightly. "Don't you remember?" James frowned deeply and asked, "What on earth happened?!" Nelly's complexion changed in an instant. Did he lose his memory? She asked tentatively, "Do you know who you are? And what year we're in?" James looked at her with a dark expression. "I just can't remember how I fainted!" "Oh? So that's all?" Nelly smiled awkwardly, thinking about whether to tell the truth or not.
If she were to tell the truth, she was afraid of him sitting up in shock and dying from agitation. However, she was even more afraid that he would pounce on her and beat her up. After all, the policewoman who accompanied her had not returned.
"The thing is..." Nelly said slowly with a smile. "I was taking a run downstairs last night and saw that you had fainted, so I called an ambulance to take you to the hospital. As for why you Tainted, I don't know either. Why don't you try remembering it yourself?" 1
James frowned at this. He was out entertaining clients until late last night and had plenty to drink. Seeing that he was drunk, Logan brought him to Royal Court to get some rest.
It seemed like he had gone upstairs on his own afterward. He did not remember what happened after that at all!
His head was dizzy and painful, and he was a little nauseated. Hence, he closed his eyes and rested.
"Sleep for a while longer and tell me if you want to drink water." Nelly thoughtfully covered
him with a blanket.
The man's face was pale, and he closed his eyes while saying indifferently, "Thank you for taking me to the hospital. Please go about your day. There's no need to worry about me!" Nelly truly wanted to leave, but she could not go anywhere right now!
When the policewoman came in, she saw that James' eyes were still closed and whispered," Still not awake, huh?"
Nelly said, "He woke up for a while and fell asleep again." "Oh!" The policewoman nodded. "Then let's eat for now. The doctor will drop by later." When the two of them were eating, the policemen from last night had arrived. Meanwhile, the doctor had come in to do his round as well. He gave James an IV drip. When he pierced his wrist, James abruptly woke up. As the policemen had seen his ID, they smiled politely and asked, "How are you feeling, Mr. Collins?" James nodded slightly, wondering why the police were here. He spoke slowly, "What the hell is going on?" The police explained to him, "When you went back to your house at Royal Court last night, Ms. Qualls thought that you were a thief and accidentally hit you with a bat. You were taken to the hospital after getting injured." James was stunned for a moment and asked, "Who'd you say hit me?" "Ms. Qualls, but she didn't do it on purpose!" the police spoke up for Nelly. Following the police's words, James looked at Nelly as his eyes narrowed. "So that's what happened!"
She was the one who knocked him unconscious, yet she dared to say that she saved him from the streets? What a great little liar!
Nelly stood behind the police, not daring to look at James due to her guilty conscience. Suddenly, she realized something and looked at the police. "What... did you say? Did you say that... the house belongs to him?"
