The Sweet Pursuit by Golden Autumn -
Chapter 194
"Of course!" Mrs. Merck placed the photo album on the table, and while flipping through it, she introduced the people in the photos to Winona.
In one of the photos, a woman in Cantent traditional wear was in a pavilion and looking back. She had a gentle and cold temperament that was similar to Mrs. Merck.
"This is...?" Winona asked curiously.
"This is my grandmother!" Mr. Merck's voice softened as her gaze became gentler.
"She's beautiful!" Winona complimented.
Mrs. Merck recalled fondly, "My grandmother's a daughter of a noble family. She's a very talented and gentle woman. I grew up with her. Later on, my family went abroad with my father. Once we returned to Cantent, my grandmother got seriously ill and fell into a coma."
Winona could hear the sadness in her tone and held Mrs. Merck's hand. She smiled softly and said, "No matter where your grandmother is, whether in this world or in heaven, she'll be treated kindly."
Mrs. Merck smiled at her. "Thank you."
They flipped through the album, and all of them were old photos. There were some photos that showed the view of the house and the yard. Winona asked with a smile, "Is this the house where you used to live, Mrs. Merck?"
There was a soft light in Mrs. Merck's eyes. "Yes. I
lived in my grandmother's house when I was younger, and she had a big yard."
Winona stopped and pointed to a bracelet with many scriptures and white cranes. She said in amazement, "What a beautiful bracelet."
Mrs. Merck stroked the photo with her fingers and said, "This is something from an ancient royal house. It's my grandmother's dowry. Unfortunately, it was lost during the war. That has always been a sore point for her." Winona thought of it and said with a warm smile," Can I take a photo of it? I have a classmate working at the Cultural Relics Bureau in Cloud City. Perhaps she can help you look for it."
Mrs. Merck's eyes lit up as she said excitedly, "Can you really? If you can find it, no matter who it's with or how much it costs, I'll buy it back!"
Winona nodded. "I'll give it a shot!" Mrs. Merck's eyes were filled with tears. "I can promise you anything as long as you can help me locate this bracelet that my grandmother got when she got married."
Seeing that Mrs. Merck attached great importance to the bracelet, Winona hatched a plan and said with a smile, "I'll do my best to help you find it."
"Thank you! Thank you very much!"
The two looked at the photos and ate the pastries made by Winona. After that, Winona got up and said goodbye. She said that she was heading back to take care of Bennett.
After Winona left, Mrs. Merck thought about it and
hired a servant to come over, "Go on over to Mr. Laine's villa and invite Ms. Shirley over. Tell her that I'd like to invite her to have afternoon tea."
"Yes, Ma'am!" the servant said before leaving
Very soon, Suzy came to the villa, and Mrs. Merck waited in person for her on the first floor. She enthusiastically took her hand and walked to the second floor. "Ms. Moore brought some pastries over just now, and I thought that you'd certainly like some, so I invited you over to taste them." Suzy thanked her warmly.
Sitting down on the sofa in the living room on the second floor, Suzy noticed that there were a few plates of pastries on the coffee table as well as an old -looking photo album.
Mrs. Merck said with a warm smile, "Frankly, I didn't call you here just for pastries, Ms. Shirley. I'd also like to ask for your help with something."
Suzy smiled lightly. "Do tell, Mrs. Merck. I'll definitely help out if I'm able to."
Mrs. Merck smiled, took the album over, and flipped it to the photo of the bracelet. She showed the photo to Suzy and said, "Take a look at this. This was my grandmother's but it has gone missing. My biggest hope for coming back this time is to find this bracelet and fulfill my grandmother's last wish."
Suzy looked at the bracelet in the photo and narrowed her eyes slightly. She seemed to have seen this bracelet before.
Mrs. Merck continued, "You're from Cloud City, right, Mrs. Shirley? Can you help me look for it? If you're able to find it, I can fulfill a wish of yours, Ms.
Shirley."
Suzy said, "Although I grew up in Cloud City, I don't know that many people here. Even so, I'll try my best to help you look for it, Mrs. Merck."
Mrs. Merck's gaze was soft and gentle. "I'll be grateful whether or not you're able to locate it."
"You're being too polite, Mrs. Merk!"
Suzy and Mrs. Merck chatted for a while. Then, the servant came over to say, "Ma'am, the soup is ready."
Suzy got up and said goodbye. On the way back to the villa, she kept thinking about the photo of the bracelet. She tried to recall where she had seen it before. 1
Suzy was quite sure that she had seen it before, but it had been a long time ago.
Clearly, Mrs. Merck had not only asked her to help locate the bracelet. She must have told the same thing to Winona.
