Chapter 182

Mrs. Merck took the gift and opened the box. Inside the box was a piece of emerald of excellent quality. Winona and Suzy could see that she liked it very much, and she thanked Winona softly.

Suzy's eyes flashed as she looked toward George.

George held her hand calmly and squeezed it in his palm comfortingly.

Everyone walked toward the hotel villa prepared for the Merck couple. Dinner was already served, and everyone chatted while eating.

As Hilde's wife was from Cantent, his English was very good. He chatted with George and Bennett in English without much of an obstacle.

Hilde had even brought his brown-haired butler along. The guy had a stern expression as he carefully recorded everyone's conversations.

Mrs. Merck stayed seated beside Hilde, looking somewhat cute and helpless. It was impossible to tell that she was a woman over 35 years old.

Moreover, she was an excellent drinker. She could tell the name and year of each wine just by

smelling them. The woman was absolutely remarkable.

From time to time, Hilde and his wife would whisper something to each other. They seemed to be on very good terms.

Bennett asked Winona to have a few drinks with Mrs. Merck, and Suzy thought that she could have some too. However, after only having a glass, George asked the servant to replace her beverage with juice.

Winona loved talking and joking. As she was well-informed and well-versed, she quickly became acquainted with Mrs. Merck.

Suzy was never good with words, and she had no experience on such occasions. She glanced at George and felt a little guilty because she was not able to help him out.

Olive was right. She could not escape this society, so she should be learning how to communicate with others.

On the other hand, George did not seem to mind this. Seeing that Suzy seemed bored just sitting there, he leaned over and whispered, "If you're all done eating, you can go to the terrace There'll be fireworks at night."

Suzy modded, got up, and went to the terrace,

One could truly see the lawn on the terrace where people were indeed setting off fireworks There were even paper lanterns rising into the sky one at a time, and the dark night suddenly became brighter

Suzy leaned over the wooden fence as she stared at the view for a while. The breeze was cooling, and her mood was instantly lifted.

"The wind here is a little cold at night, so don't catch a cold now, Ms. Shirley." Winona came over behind her and put a thin blanket around Suzy's shoulders.

Suzy turned her head around and said, "Thank you!"

Winona stood beside her and looked back at the three people in the restaurant who were drinking and chatting with each other. There was a faint smile on the corners of her lips as she said, "People from Glooney Nation are such great drinkers. He drank three bottles in such a short time."

Suzy said, "Hilde seems happy. There should be no problem with the collaboration."

Winona smiled and shook her head. "It's hard to tell. The people from Glooney Nation are excellent at hiding their true emotions. It seems like the Townsends and the Laines aren't the only families he's visiting during his trip to Cantent this time."

Suzy raised her eyebrows and changed the subject. "Where's Mrs. Merck? Will it be rude for us to be out here?"

Winona smiled and said, "Mrs. Merck is on the phone. I think she's chatting with an old friend, so I doubt she'll hang up anytime soon."

She turned to look at the mountains in the distance, her voice becoming faintly discernible as she said, "Did you know that Hilde likes the women of our country very much? His wife and personal assistants are all from Cantent, so...".

Then, Winona turned to look at Suzy with a deep gaze. "Do you understand why Bennett Townsend and Mr. Laine brought us here?".

Suzy turned to look at her, somewhat astonished.

Winona let out a sneer. "Men, They're all the same!"
