The Sweet Pursuit by Golden Autumn -
Chapter 155
Suzy smiled and said, "We'll talk about it once you get your grades. If you don't do well in your exam, I'll be too ashamed to come here again."
Ean snorted. "There's no need for you to worry about that. I won't ever embarrass you!"
"I believe in you!" Suzy put on her backpack. "Even if I don't come over anymore, we can still play games together every day."
Ean frowned. "What do you mean by that?"
Suzy turned around and said, "It's nothing. Don't overthink it."
Ean pondered it over and said, "Once I'm done with my exam, let's go horseback riding together."
Suzy gave it a thought before answering, "Once I'm done with your lessons, I have to start looking for another job, so I don't know if I'll be free. We'll keep in contact when the time comes."
"You truly are busy, huh?" Ean said while pouting.
"What choice do I have? I have to make money, after all!" Suzy shrugged. "I'm leaving now. Good luck on your exam!"
"I got it!" Ean said with an irritated expression on his face.
Suzy laughed and turned to leave.
When George came back in the evening, Uncle Fuller said to him, "Ms. Shirley mentioned that today's her last lesson. I've wired her the salary for the entire month."
George frowned and said, "She resigned?"
Uncle Fuller nodded. "Ms. Shirley said that she has found another job and may not have time to give Mr. Ean his lessons after the summer vacation, so she resigned. She asked me not to tell Mr. Ean for the time being.".
A dark color flashed across George's eyes. He pursed his thin lips and nodded lightly. "Got it."
After going up the stairs, George grew angrier the more he thought about it. He picked up his phone to dial a number.
As soon as the call was connected, he immediately asked, "Why didn't you tell me about your resignation?"
Suzy did not expect that he would call her to inquire about it in such a straightforward manner. After a pause, she said softly, "I told Uncle Fuller."."
George asked, "Who do you think is your employer here?"
Suzy did not respond altogether.
George looked at the darkness outside the window, and after a short while, he continued to ask, "What new job did you get?"
Suzy raised her voice slightly. "Do I have to report this to you, Mr. Laine?"
George sneered. "So, whenever you're using me, I'm Uncle George. But when I'm of no use to you, I'm 'Mr. Laine? You're drawing the line quite clearly."
!
Suzy was choked up by his words and did not know how to respond to him.
There was another round of silence before George said in a low voice, "The matters between us have nothing to do with Ean. He likes you very much. It was hard for him to accept a tutor so easily. He'll turn demonic if we replace you, and it'll result in him getting bad grades. If you hate seeing me, we don't have to meet when you come over. There's no need to bring your emotions into Ean's matter."
Suzy blushed lightly upon hearing his words. "I'm not implicating Ean. I was just afraid that you wouldn't want to see me."
"I never said that!" George blurted out.
After speaking, annoyance flashed across his face. He deliberately said in a cold voice, "That settles it. The tutoring gig after the summer vacation goes on as usual."
Then, he immediately hung up the phone.
Suzy frowned slightly as she stared at the phone screen in a daze.
Nelly came over after cutting some fruits and asked with a smile, "What's the matter? Who called?"
Suzy frowned and asked back, "If there's someone who constantly makes you angry but you just can't seem to implode out of anger, what is that called?"
"That?" Nelly's pitch-black eyes started rolling in thoughts. She tilted her head before smiling. "If it's a man, it's probably because you like him." Suzy gasped, threw the phone aside in disdain, and muttered softly, "Who the hell would like him?!"
"Who is it?!" Nelly became even more curious. Suzy thought about it and replied, "A very distant uncle!" Nelly immediately said, "So, it's an elder? That means you respect him very much!" Suzy,"..."
