The Sweet Pursuit by Golden Autumn -
Chapter 100
In the study of the Shirley family's house, Jarold had just hung up the phone when Yara pushed the door in. She said to him with a cold face, "You're not allowed to give Suzy another call in the future. Just think of it as we don't have such a daughter in our lives!"
Jarold frowned and replied, "We should at least listen to Zee's explanation." "What's there to explain?" Yara said angrily, "She must be jealous that her grandfather introduced a boyfriend to Neenee, so she deliberately went over to stir up trouble! That girl even beat someone up! Is this something that a girl should be doing? What on earth has she learned out there in all these years? She's just like a thug!"
Jarold said solemnly, "What kind of boyfriend would Giannis Xenakis be anyway? It's good that Suzy stirred up trouble for them. If she hadn't, would you truly be pleased if Sunny married into the Xenakis family?"
Yara sneered. "Those are two entirely different matters. I don't want Neenee to marry into the Xenakis family, but Suzy is jealous of Neenee. She secretly plotted something behind our backs! That's a fact."
"What if Neenee was the one who called Zeezee over?" Jarold asked. "That's impossible!" Yara was clinging to her opinion. Jarold knew that Yara was prejudiced against Suzy, so no matter what he said, Yara simply would not believe Suzy. Yara's anger did not subside. "Now everything is swell! We've offended the Xenakis family. They and the Shirley family's elders will be pinning the blame on our Neenee. This is all Suzy Shirley's doing!
"How did I give birth to such a naughty, mischievous, and violent daughter? In any case, from now on, you're not allowed to contact her anymore. You're not allowed to give her any more money either. She's not worth the money we put into her at all. We should put all our energy on Neenee instead."
Yara said firmly, "We can only count on Neenee now." Jarold frowned and said nothing.
In the evening, George came over. Suzy went to hug him. She suddenly called out, "Uncle George." George halted and kissed her face in the dark. He chuckled and whispered, "Have you run into trouble again?" Suzy shook her head, hugged his neck tightly, and took the initiative to lean closer. At one o'clock in the morning, George took Suzy out of the bathroom and placed her on the bed He pulled the blanket over to cover her up and got up to leave.
Then, his bathrobe was suddenly caught by something. When George turned around, Suzy was looking at him with her clear eyes. Perhaps it was because they had just shared some happiness together, she looked extra gentle. Even her voice was soft. "Sleep here tonight."
George had never slept in the smaller bedroom before. No matter how late it was, he would always go back to the master bedroom. He bent down and touched her hair gently. "What's wrong?" Suzy pursed her pink lips and whispered, "Tonight's movie was a little scary."
George curled his lips into a smile. "So, you get scared as well?" Suzy did not speak up and merely stared at him with her glistening eyes. George felt as if his heart was being scratched by a cat. His voice was low and soft as he replied, "Move over." Suzy's eyes glittered. She immediately moved aside with the blanket in her arms. George lifted the blanket and got onto the bed. He stroked her face and said, "I'll leave when you fall asleep, so go to sleep." He did not stay and merely waited for her to fall asleep before leaving. Suzy moved closer into his arms and smelled the familiar woody fragrance on his body. Although it did not belong to her, she still felt at ease. She closed her eyes and said softly, "Try not to wake me up when you leave." George's chest felt tight. He seemed to be smiling when he said, "How overbearing." Suzy shushed him softly and said, "Stop talking." George hugged her slender waist and smiled again. This time around, he actually stopped talking. Suzy quickly fell asleep, and the faint moonlight fell on her porcelain fair face, reflecting soft light. She looked extremely obedient when she was asleep, and even her breathing was shallow. George looked at the woman in his arms, and his heart became like the soft moonlight. He found her to be exquisite and tranquil. Inexplicably, he started feeling sleepy, He closed his eyes, and he also fell asleep at some point during the night.
