The Rejected Mate (Slade Angel) -
Chapter 27
I was right. Mark is here. I can feel him inside the cave. He told me about this secret place of him, a month after he accepted me in this pack. He told me that this is his sisters’ favorite place.
They spend time here whenever they have free time together. Ever since their parents died, he looks after his sister Melissa. She became his sunshine whenever he feels tired or stress in his duties.
There’s a cave behind the water falls which he makes as a house. There’s a lot of Melissa’s things in there which he keeps.
I enter and found Mark lying on the floor. He smells alcohol. He must be drinking since he left the pack.
“Mark, get up.” I said but he didn’t move.
I carry him to the bed. I see candles in front of his sisters’ photo and a frame where his mate’s name was written. He doesn’t even have her photo. It’s like a mini house here. There’s a small kitchen on the right side. I make soup for him, so when he wakes up, he can eat.
I waited for more than twelve hours before he wakes up.
He sees me but he stays quiet. I move and sit beside him
“Marky.” I say.
He starts to cry when I called him by his nickname. Melissa also called him Marky when she’s still alive.
I hug him and let him cry in my shoulder.
“It’s alright. Everything is going to be alright. They are with the Moon Goddess already. If they see you like this, I’m sure they will be sad.” I said.
“I’m all alone. I don’t have family now. I don’t have a mate. My soul is not complete anymore.” He says.
“Marky, I’m still here. The pack is still here for you. Don’t lose hope. There will be someone who will make you complete again.” I said.
“There will be no one who can make me feel complete. Those rogues should die. They shouldn’t live in this world.”
I look at him. He seems to start getting back to the old him that I tried to change for two years. Mark doesn’t have mercy for rogues. Killing them makes him feel better.
“Not all of them Mark. You need to open your mind. I know it’s hard for you to accept the fact that not every rogue is bad, but believe me, there are wolves out there who’s just like me. Abandon their packs just to have some peace in their life. Some are just confused.” I try to sway him. I don’t want him to start hating rogues again. It will make him out of control.
“Mario, he’s alive. I thought I killed him before, he came back and killed many people again. It’s my fault.”
“Look Mark, you killed Mario now and his actions are because of his greed. Don’t make him get to you. He wants you to feel this way.”
“I can’t!” he stands up. “He did that because he wants to get revenge. He wants to be the Alpha here but I didn’t let him. I am not fit to be alpha. I can’t protect people. I am worth—-”
I slap him. I slap him hard.
“How dare you said that to me? You who help me to feel worthy again. You who always told me to believe in myself. You who thought me how to be strong and accept Gabriel who hurt me, is saying right now that you are worthless? Are serious?” I’m furious. How dare him act like this.
“Angel I—”
“If you want to act like this, fine! If you think you are worthless, fine! But you need to put yourself together. There are a lot of people whose waiting for their Alpha to bury the warriors who sacrifice their lives to protect this pack.
They are waiting for their Alpha who they think that as their savior because he killed the Alpha of the rogues.
If you want to prison yourself here, fine! But you need to do your duty first. You’re Alpha of this pack. Your sister loves you so much and supported you when she’s alive.
Your mate? She will be proud of you because of the things you do to this pack. Now Alpha Mark, what are you going to do with those people who is waiting and believing in you?”
He stares at me and contemplating on what to do next.
“Let’s go back now.” Marks says.
I smile and hug him.
“I love you Mark. I will always be here with you.”
“Angel, you need to go back to your mate too. This is not your pack anymore.”
“This will always be my pack Mark. I know I need to go back. My mate must be worried again because I left without even telling that I’ll be coming back again.”
“Angel! How can you do that?”
“Wow! After what you said earlier, now you are scolding me to why I do that?”
“Come on, let’s not fight about this. You need to call your mate and tell him that you’re coming back. We don’t want him to come here and make a scene.”
“Don’t worry, I’ll handle him.”
“Now, let’s go back. Kayden is worried about you.”
“Okay.”
We both shift into our wolf and run back to the pack.
I stiffen and see Mark look at me like saying I TOLD YOU.
Gabriel is standing now in front of the door and looking at me. I shift back and he rans to give me his shirt. How can he be here that fast? He can’t teleport. It will take a day and half to get here.
“Gabriel what are you doing here?”
“I’m here to take you back.” He says.
“I can’t go back right now. We need to bury the people who died here first and fix things in the pack.” I explain.
“Fix things here? Are you even going back to me and to our pack?” I can see the hurt in his eyes. Mark is right. I shouldn’t leave just like that.
“I’m — I—.”
“Alpha Mark!” Kayden says as he run to Mark who already shifted and dressed. He looks at Kayden and smile.
“We are worried about you.”
“I’m back now.” He turns and look at Gabriel. “Gabriel, we should go inside and talk. You must be tired.”
“I’m curious on how you get here that fast.” I ask.
“I borrow my friend chopper. it’s modern days now Angel. Anything can happen specially if you’re desperate.” Gabriel says. I feel guilty but it’s also his fault. He didn’t understand how important Mark to me and how worried I am to this pack.
“Let’s get inside and talk. Kayden, prepare the burial ceremony for the warriors. Angel, Gabriel and I will need to discuss something.” Mark says.
“Yes Alpha.” He looks at me and Gabriel before he leaves.
Gabriel, Mark and I went to his office.
“Gabriel you must not worried. Angel will return to your pack. She just helping me here for a while. I forgot to tell you that she acts as our Luna here while I’m still mate less. She’s worries about her people here too. After the ceremony, she can leave with you.” Mark says.
“I’m not going to leave until I’m sure that everything here is okay.” I say.
“Angel, it’s not your duty anymore. I will let Lea help me with things here from now on. You’re Moon Crescent Luna now.”
“But Mark, I need to—”
“I think Angel can stay for a while. I will stay here too to help you guys with anything.” Gabriel says.
“You don’t have to do that. You have a pack to worry too.” Mark says.
I look at Gabriel. I’m move in what he says. He is willing to let me stay here and help us too.
“Don’t worry about it. There’s a lot of people who look after the pack now. I want to help here and make sure that my mate will go back.” Gabriel says.
“Angel? What do you think?” Mark asks.
I’m speechless for a moment. I don’t know what to say.
“If he wants then he can stay for a while.” I said.
“I’ll stay until you come back.” Gabriel firmly says.
“Okay Gabriel. Now we are busy with the ceremony and fixing the houses which was burned by the rogues who attacked us.”
“Okay. I can help them to fix the house while you are busy with preparing for the ceremony.” Gabriel suggested.
“Okay.” I answer.
Mark called Andrew and told him to let Gabriel help them fixing the houses while I’m busy helping the pack doctor to heal the injured warriors.
The day went by and at dinner the ceremony held. All you can hear is the cry of those family who lost their love ones. Mark looks serious and I become worried. I know he’s still not okay but only time can heal him this time. I look in the sky and pray to the Moon Goddess.
‘Moon Goddess, if you are listening, please help Mark to heal. Please give him someone who can help him change his perspectives about rogues. He deserves to be love. I know you can see it too. He needs someone to fix his broken soul.’
I look at him again.
“Are you okay?” Gabriel asks.
“I’m fine. I’m just worried about Mark.”
“I know. I can feel how worried you are.” Gabriel says.
“He lost his sister and mate. The only thing left to him is his pain and duty. I hope the Moon Goddess hear my plea and help him.”
“She always listens. We just need to wait.” Gabriel says. He holds my hand as we stay silent stares at the fire. I pray for their souls. They are now with the Moon Goddess.
