The Possessive Alpha -
Chapter 61
ELLE POV
Damon stops washing my body, his stare searing into me, desperate for confirmation that he heard right. “A prophecy?” His face carries the same shock mine held hours before. Taking the shampoo from the shelf, I pour a dime-sized amount into my hand, lifting my arms, my chest tingling from rubbing lightly against his.
A low growl rumbles past Damon’s lips shaking the world around us, his c**k rubbing lightly against my thigh with each movement, making me flutter in anticipation. His nostrils flare, his breaths deepening as he tries to contain the l**t within.
“Damon?” I ask, checking on his reserve as my fingers continue to work their magic on his scalp, I know what I am doing to him, but I like seeing him relax under my touch.
“Biscuit,” Damon’s breath comes out in ragged puffs, his hands gripping my waist tighter than expected, determined to control his urges. “Please stop. My control is slipping.”
I can feel the aura rolling off of him, the l**t drowning my senses to the point of losing control. Stepping away from him, I give him space to finish washing. After his heart calms down, he opens his eyes, igniting a fire to lick over my skin as he admires me.
“We need to get dressed, or it’ll be impossible to get anything done,” I remind him; using the last of my willpower, I grab the towel hanging outside the shower door, leaving him alone under the water.
A few seconds later, Damon is behind me with his towel wrapped around his waist, showing off his perfectly sculpted abs. My hands are begging to explore the bumps and ridges of his impeccable figure.
“Ehhum,” Damon coughs, “my eyes are up here, Biscuit.” His words pull me from my fantasies, my eyes snapping to his as I turn pink with embarrassment. The desire is still raging, his blue eyes almost glowing with need.
“Sorry,” I mumble, looking away because if neither of us does, we will never make it out of this bathroom. Walking into the main area, I unzip Damon’s suitcase and grab a clean pair of boxers and a shirt while Damon studies me from the doorway with a shit-eating grin. With the towel firmly underneath my arms, I shimmy his boxers up my h**s. Taking the shirt, I slip my arms and head in the holes, putting it on while the towel slips to the ground.
“What?” I ask, looking at Damon, who hasn’t stopped watching me with a devilish smile.
ELLE POV

Taking the shampoo from the shelf, I pour a dime-sized amount into my hand, lifting my arms, my chest tingling from rubbing lightly against his.
“I like seeing you in my clothes,” he says. Stepping away from the doorframe, he grabs his clothes from the case and dresses as quickly as I did. As soon as Damon is finished, he climbs underneath the covers, opening his arms to me. Crawling beside him, I let the euphoria settle over me as I snuggle into his chest, a sigh sneaking past my lips.
“Comfortable?” he asks, his arms wrapping around me, my scalp tickling as he buries his nose in my hair.
“Yes,” I answer, hesitating, unsure where to go with our conversation. There are so many things that need to be discussed.
“Tell me about this prophecy,” Damon interrupts, the thoughts racing through my mind.
“Luna by birth. Luna by Mate. The mark received willingly by the true one disregards the rules. His venom under the skin is all it takes to remove the shackles releasing the spell from within. Only the mark of the man whose touches tingle will protect the Luna from those who covet her. Find your mate. Take his mark. Or be forced to wear that of another.” I explain quickly, but the longer the words are tossed in my mind, the queasier I become.
“Well. s**t,” Damon sighs, pulling me closer, “that doesn’t make things more complicated at all.” I don’t need to see his face to know the wheels are turning, contemplative silence filling the room as he tries to decipher the witch’s words.
Her words haven’t stopped stewing, a foreboding pit growing in my stomach until it eats me whole. I know I cannot make a final decision until I get my wolf’s opinion. With all the other discoveries about my life recently, I completely forgot about my first shift in the next twenty-four hours. With her so close to joining me, it just seems wrong to make a decision without her input.
“So what do we do now?” Damon asks, turning onto his side to look me in the eyes. “Do we try to find you an Alpha who makes your skin tingle?” He asks, his voice sounds sarcastic, but I can see the fear in his eyes that he might lose me to someone else, to some other Alpha.
“No, Damon,” I say, as I try to stifle the yawn threatening to escape, “we sleep.”
“Sleep?” He asks, disbelief coating his words. “There is a madman after you, prophecies, and goddess knows what else lying in store for your future.”
“I know this,” I respond, annoyance lacing my words, “but none of that can be solved tonight. What can be solved is my exhaustion. Damon, it’s been a busy weekend of whirlwind secrets and friends. But also an intermittent migraine that seems to only get worse with time. So sleep is what we are going to accomplish tonight. Tomorrow when we wake refreshed, we can talk about it more.”
“With everything happening, I completely forgot about your first shift,” he responds, “How are you feeling? It’s been a few years since my own, but I remember the headache. It felt like my head was being split open with an icepick.”
“That’s exactly what it feels like,” I exclaim, happy to know it’s common for everyone to feel this way, even Alphas. Which I am now, or always have been, I guess. It’s just hard to wrap my brain around sometimes. “How bad does the shift hurt?” I ask, biting my l*p to stop the nerves from boiling over.
“I won’t lie to you, biscuit,” He says, stroking my back to comfort me, “it hurts like a b***h for the first time, but Slade and I will be there to help you through it. Your wolf will be able to talk to you through the shift. She will help you too. Are you excited to meet her?”
“Of course,” I respond, “who wouldn’t be excited to meet their wolf? I wonder what she will be like.” His chuckle rings throughout the room, sending a shock wave to my heart.
“If she is anything like you,” He says, through the rumbling laughter, “she’ll be stubborn, intelligent, a fighter, and incredibly beautiful.” Lifting my chin to meet his eyes, he leans forward, lightly brushing his lips against mine. It’s crazy that his simplest touch can make my mind go into delirium.
“Settle, biscuit,” Damon murmurs against my mouth, scenting my excitement as it swirls around us, permeating the air. “As you said earlier, we both need sleep. You more so than me. You have a big day tomorrow, and we need you to be well-rested.” He places another small peck on my lips before laying back on the bed, opening his arms to me so I can settle quietly on his chest.
After a few minutes of his hand running through my hair, I finally fall into a blissful sleep with Damon by my side, the anxiousness of meeting my wolf slipping away into the void.
