The Possessive Alpha -
Chapter 28
Elle Pov
It’s been ten minutes since I made my way into the party room, and Damon still hasn’t walked through the door. Andrew and Matt aren’t here either, meaning he must still be with them, and I should calm down. His friends may not be my favorite people in the world, but I know them well enough to know they would make sure he is okay. Standing with my friends, listening as they mingle and joke but not paying attention too distracted by thoughts of Damon. Too preoccupied with my thoughts I don’t notice the sizeable male figure standing abnormally close to me.
I see Alpha Jonah looking down at me with an easy smile. I know he is the cousin of the twins and Charity, but goddess, is the man never within his damn territory? Doesn’t he have a pack to run? I know Taylor is his Gamma’s mate, but he doesn’t need to come to our pack every time Brad does.
“Hello, Alpha Jonah, nice to see you again,” I say to him, putting on a fake smile. Looking behind him, I see Theo giving Jonah dirty looks. What the hell is that about? Did something happen between the two of them that I do not know about? I’ll have to ask him about it later.
“It’s always lovely to see you, Elle,” Alpha Jonah says, giving me a smile that can be best described as the same one the Cheshire cat gives visitors in Wonderland. “I hear from Luna Olivia you’re going to New York City for your birthday.” That grabs the rest of the group’s attention, who all jump at this unexpected news.
“You’re going to New York City for your birthday! Why didn’t you tell us?” Taylor practically squeals as she pulls herself away from Brad to jump up and down in excitement.
“I forgot,” I say sheepishly. I was never planning on going to New York City for my birthday and was only saying that at the moment to piss Damon off. But now that Jonah opened his big fat mouth, there is no getting out of this.
“Well, the Alpha and Luna didn’t,” Alpha Jonah says, inserting himself into private matters that is none of his damn business. “They already reserved the hotel rooms for us at Terrace Park. They also asked my men and me to accompany you for safety.” Of course, they did because they could not leave well enough alone. Looking around, I find Luna Olivia looking at Jonah and me with supreme interest. When she notices me looking at her, she raises her wine glass, smiling and winking my way.
“I cannot believe you forgot to tell us about New York City,” Emma says, a skeptical look on her face as she searches my face looking for hidden answers.
“Oh, who cares if she forgot,” Taylor says hurriedly, thrilled that she will be spending the weekend in the city. “We know now, and we need to plan the itinerary.” Charity, Emma, and Taylor start talking over one another while trying to determine the weekend’s essential activities. The boys occasionally interject with activities they might be interested in. Jonah says nothing, just standing next to me, smiling sporadically, and every time he does, Theo shoots him a glare while he rolls his eyes.

The sound of silverware clinking against glass causes the conversations that fill the room to slowly die out as everyone turns their attention to the Alpha, Luna, and Damon standing together at the other end of the room. When my eyes land on Damon, I feel the tension in my shoulder finally release, and when our eyes finally meet, he sends a reassuring smile until his eyes see Jonah standing next to me. A deep scowl replacing the beauty that previously sat there.
“Today, we are here to celebrate one of our pack members finding their mate!” Alpha Charles booms out over the audience, and the crowd erupts in claps and cheers to congratulate the new couple. “Will Melanie Simmons and Alpha Stephen step up here, please?” Charles continues watching Alpha Stephan and Jonah weave through the crowd to join the family.
“Let us raise a glass to celebrate the Alpha of Blue Ridge and his new Luna,” Charles says, raising his champagne flute towards the couple as the rest of the pack does the same with the champagne glasses handed out by Omegas. “May the Goddess bless you with a long relationship and many healthy pups! Cheers!” Alpha Charles finishes his speech, downing his champagne in one long gulp.
Luna Olivia makes her short speech to the crowd, “Please stay, eat, mingle, and let us celebrate the new Alpha couple!” This causes the pack to holler with excitement. Werewolves are a social species and love any reason to party. Many probably won’t leave the packhouse until the wee hours of the morning.
Once the speeches are done, my friends waste no time returning the conversation to our New York City trip, but I pay no mind, too distracted by Damon’s eyes on me from across the room. I can feel my body flushing red at the intensity of his stares.

It’s midnight, and the party is still raging on downstairs; most of my friends are still celebrating the new Luna of Blue Ridge, except for Theo, who left two hours ago. Damon and Andrew left around the same time as him, which was annoying because I was hoping to talk to Damon before going to bed. But that became increasingly impossible because Alpha Jonah didn’t leave my side for a second. I swear he would have followed me to the bathroom if I had let him. I pretended to be exhausted to escape his hovering for five minutes.
As soon as I pass the threshold of my bedroom door, I finally feel as though I can breathe. Jonah’s prominent Alpha figure constantly hanging around me was suffocating, and if I feel like this at a party, how the hell am I supposed to handle a whole weekend with the guy? I wish Olivia hadn’t said a word to Jonah, but I should have known that she wasn’t going to keep her mouth shut about it. Not with the way she and Charles have been meddling in my love life recently.
Entering my walk-in closet, I turn on the light, shimmy out my shoes, and put them back in their rightful place next to the others. Grabbing the silk nightgown from my dresser, I walk through the connecting door to the bathroom. Stripping naked, I turn the shower to the hottest temperature possible and step underneath the scalding water. As soon as my eyes close, the memory of Damon and I making out on the library couch invades my brain, causing my p***y to clench and ache with need. I don’t know what would have happened if Matt and Andrew hadn’t interrupted us, but I strongly suspect it would have been explosive.
I am quickly washing my hair, face, and body. I am desperately trying to ignore the throbbing in between my legs. Still, it’s becoming increasingly more difficult because every time I close my eyes, all I can imagine is Damon’s lips suckling on my n*****s. Turning the water off, I grab the towel placed on the hook by the shower door.
Drying my body quickly, I put on the silk nightgown I picked out from my dresser and then spent the next five minutes detangling my hair. When I am finally down, I return the towel to the hook and put the hairbrush back in the drawer, along with the toothbrush and toothpaste I pulled out to brush my teeth.
I left the bathroom and flicked my light switch off on my way out the door. Sighing, I climb my way to my king-sized bed, pulling back the fuzzy duvet cover and climbing underneath. Pulling the blanket over my head, I try my hardest to shake the library memories from my thoughts, but nothing works. The memories of my m***s are filling my head, and how it felt to grind my h**s against Damon has me involuntarily rubbing my legs together.
After an hour of tossing and turning, my thoughts are so consumed by Damon and me in the library I can’t handle it any longer. I need to see and talk to him about what’s changing between us. Also, to find out what the hell happened between him and his father. Throwing the duvet off me, I slide out of bed and shove my feet into the slippers I keep stuffed underneath the edge. Without thinking, I find myself in the hallway, my feet having a mind of their own, leading me up the stairway and down the hall stopping in front of a door I never would have dared to come near six months ago.
Taking a breath of courage, I raise my fist and knock on the door quietly, not knowing if anyone else is around and might see me in silk pajamas. Thankfully, I am not forced to wait long before the door swings open.
