The Possessive Alpha -
Chapter 105
*******FLASHBACK CONTINUED********
ELLE POV
“A rogue?” Charity asks, her head whipping around to glare at Theo, “what could you possibly be thinking?”
“Look, I know Xander and his Beta Fletcher,” Theo protests as we dive further into no man’s territory, “they’re good guys who left toxic Alphas. Not all rogues are bad, and these guys can be included in that group.”
“Alpha, you can’t be considering this can you?” Charity asks, but I don’t pay attention as these two argue, my eyes scanning the forest for any announced visitors.
“I have been more places than you, Charity,” Theo responds, his mouth moving faster than his brain can make him shut up. “I know more about life outside the comforts of pack life and protection.”
“What makes these men so special?” Charity asks while a twig snaps to my right. Turning my head, I find two men in their late teens and early twenties. One has a flirtatious smile and blue-green eyes while only a few inches taller than me. The man beside him is closer to Damon’s height, with warm brown eyes that match his perfectly manicured hair and a stern expression on his face as he sizes each of us up.
“Any lady who has had me in bed can answer that question,” the lighthearted strangers replies resulting in Charity’s subsequent gag of revulsion and her snarky reply of “I’d rather not.”
“Enough, Children,” Theo scolds before walking forward to wrap the guy in a welcoming hug; before doing the same with the stoic man who hasn’t said a word, his attention focused on me as if he is trying to figure out the world’s most complicated puzzle. “Xander and Fletcher, this is Elle and Charity.”
“Damn, Theo,” Fletcher says as he stares at Charity and me appreciatively, not being shy in his charms, “had I known you hang around with such beautiful women I would have been around sooner.”
“Well, they’re off limits to you,” Theo says, with a protective growl, while Fletcher steps closer to me, “I wouldn’t Fletch. Elle is Damon Ledger’s future Luna.”
Hearing Damon’s name Fletcher takes a big step away from me causing an internal squeal to ring through my body like some basic fangirl wild for Damon. Xander watches with amusement as he asks, “if you’re Damon’s future Luna why do you need us to do recon on your pack?”
“Would you ask me that same question if I were a male Alpha?” I snap, with a glower as I size up the man Theo claims to be perfect for the job.
“I guess not,” he replies, a smile tugging at his lips, “but why us?”
“Theo says you’re the best person for the job.” I answer, my voice firm, while my gaze flickers between the two men standing in front of me.
“And who is your target?” Fletcher asks, shoving his hands into his pocket as his demeanor changes to something more serious.
“Silver Run,” Charity replies, her voice as cold as ice, clearly disagreeing with the decision to include rogues in this decision. Hearing who our intended target is a smile tugs on Xander’s face while his eyes glaze over in a silent conversation with Fletcher.
“We are in,” Fletcher agrees readily, giving me a reassuring nod, “we have been rescuing members from that pack for months.” His words take all of us by surprise as I look between the serious faces of the men standing before me.
“What do you mean?” Theo asks, “what have you heard about Silver Run?”
“Some really f****d up things,” Xander sighs, “rape, holding pack members in the cells like cattle, and he is notorious for capturing rogue mates to force them to do his bidding. We have rescued some of the wolves who have managed to escape and its not pretty. Most are starved or have serious psychological damage.”
“Wait…” Charity interrupts, like she is trying to process information that is slowly starting to click, “are you that rogue pack I have heard rumors about?” Her question throwing Theo and I off guard as we turn to stare at her expecting her to elaborate further. “Gamma Toby was talking about a rogue pack who are like Robin Hood. Apparently, the council is going crazy trying to capture you. The Black Shadow pack is what they’re calling you.”
“Ironic,” Fletcher chuckles, with a head shake like he cannot believe his words, “rogues aren’t allowed to have a pack, only “collectives” and yet they give us a pack name. Make it make sense.” As Flecther continues talking I can feel the heat from Xander’s gaze while he continues to study me with intensity.
“What do we get in return for helping you regain your pack?” Xander asks, his deep voice filling the space around us. I knew this was coming eventually, they’re Robin Hood rogues, who dont particularly like packs or their Alpha’s so I knew this question was coming.
“What do you want?” I ask, as a way to test their values and morals, for the ability to determine if they are the best option available for what needs done.
“As Theo and Charity have pointed out,” Xander responds quickly, as if he has had the terms of this agreement worked out before meeting with me, “we are a rogue collective. It is hard to settle down when we have to constantly move for protection and fear. Silver Run is a large territory, we want a space within your territory that is ours. We will maintain your rules, and aide in border protection.”
“If you’re going to do that why not just become pack members?” Charity asks, and I can tell she is not on board with the idea. To be honest had this been yesterday I would have agreed with her, but my conversation with the Goddess has made me reevaluate my views on the subject.
“I don’t see why our refusal to do so is any of your business,” Xander growls, glaring at the Charity, but I say nothing, sniffing the air and energy rolling off the rogue standing before me.
“You’re Alpha born?” I ask, and by the strength of his scent, and the power in his aura a first born. It makes sense, rogue collectives aren’t usually successful under any other type of leadership.
“Yes, not that it matters,” Xander comments, his eyes meeting mine, and anger swirling in them at the mention of his father. “So do we have a deal?”
“Do you rape or abuse women? Believe in them or children?” I question, warning growls coming from the men standing in front of me, I know their answer.
“Never,” Xander says, his voice dripping with malice, his eyes shifting to black as he tries to contain the wolf within, “there is a reason we formed this collective Luna, and it’s to save pack members from abusive assholes. Only becoming them to protect and defend our own or those weaker than us.”
I stay silent rolling over his words for a moment, as I study his demeanor, trying to determine if the Goddess and Theo were right when they said I could trust him. Charity’s gaze is heating my face, a glare of warning plastered to it, as she tries to gain my attention before I nod in agreement with their terms.
“Fine,” I say keeping my voice firm as I lay out the terms of our agreement, “if you help us, we will allow you to live within our territory borders while remaining you’re own entity. You are free to stay as long as your members stay nonviolent, and contribute to the success of the pack through patrol and other tasks.”
“I want to be treated as an Alpha,” Xander reminds me, “under no circumstances are you to have a say over my pack members if they misbehave. Punishment of my people should remain in my hands.”
“As long as you give me the same respect,” I say, while Charity huffs and paces behind me clearly not agreeing with my decision. Even Theo who knows the men before me personally looks apprehensive by my decision. My eyes trail along the bodies of the men standing before me; listening to my gut for any warning bells only to find it empty.
“I think you are the only Alpha I would give that respect to,” Xander admits honestly, a charming smile brightening his face. Like an infection one spread across my own, feeling at ease enough to smile at his commentary. “So, do we have a deal?” He asks as he steps forward his hand out in offering to solidify our alliance.
“Yes,” I breathe, grabbing his hand in a firm shake of agreement, despite the fact that he is a rogue I don’t feel any unease in his presence. “We have a deal.” As the words leave my mouth a pressure wraps around my hand as the deal binds us together for the foreseeable future.
Releasing his palm from my hand I look at the watch on my wrist, realizing I need to get within New Moon’s pack borders soon. “Sorry to treaty and run, Alpha but we have a war to prepare for,” I say, giving him the title of Alpha, showing that I respect him and his position. “Theo will call you later with more details.” With a nod of understanding him and Fletcher turn into the rest of the No Mans territory, nothing but silence between them.
Without waiting to get a scolding from Charity or Theo, I hurry in the direction of New Moon my mind too preoccupied with the puzzle pieces of my plan slowly coming together.

The Following Morning- Thursday
As Charity, Theo, and I cross the border between New Moon and Diamond Claw I can sense a difference. ‘His wolf is weakening,’ Scarlett comments from the corner of my mind, speaking for the first time in days as she conserves her strength. ‘What would cause a wolf to become this weak?’ But before I can finish asking her the question realization clicks into place; his mate. That bastard has his mate.
Fifteen minutes later, without running into a single wolf on patrol, the three of us are nearing the missing doorway of the main house. The packhouse which has been torn apart by the angry hands of an Alpha turning feral with the loss of his mate. Startled by our entrance, the shatter of a glass bottle smashing into pieces echoes throughout the room. “What are you doing here?” Jonah snarls, while Eli demands to know how we got past the patrol.
“We don’t have a lot of time,” I say, deciding not to waste time on pleasantries cutting straight to the chase.”I know about your mate and I know that you need to exchange me for her.” I admit gaining strange looks from Theo and Charity. They knew Jonah was involved but didnt know why, and I didn’t know either until we stepped foot on the territory.
“You’re not going to stop me,” Jonah growls, his eyes shifting to black his wolf stepping forward, “I would trade you for her in a heart beat. I would do anything to get away from her dickbag father. Damon would do the same thing for you.”
“I am not here to stop you,” I tell him, because I am not, based on the destruction of the house I would say his mate has not had an easy time while living with her father. “I am here to help. I need to know what his plans are.”
“I am not helping you until I get assurances that you or Damon won’t come for me retroactively,” Jonah snaps, his eyes still black, his aura springing forth without restraint attempting to intimidate me. “I want you to promise me that you will let me step down as Alpha to live in peace with mate.”
“I can promise that we will let you live your life in peace,” I confirm, “what do you know about the “Alpha” of Silver Run?”
“Tiberius?” Jonah snarls, practically foaming at the mouth saying the man’s name, “he is a real piece of s**t. Everything is booby trapped and I wouldn’t trust anything. The pack members are terrified, and the council is useless because he “won” by battle.”
“I saw the blueprints for the territory,” I agree, recalling the amount of hidden guns, and security devices in those plans you’d think it was a top secret location. “I have a plan worked out for that. But I need to know, what Tiberius has planned to get me to him?”
While his his aura receeds a look passes between Jonah and Eli before a sigh escapes his lips. “He gave me tranquilizer darts filled with wolfsbane and silver. I am supposed to stick you and Damon together, or whenever is easiest. Then take the rental SUV we rented for the trip to our meeting location.”
As the information pours from his lips, an idea pops into my head, the conversation with the Goddess rearing its ugly head and idea sprouting in my mind as my eyes find Charity. Opening the link I ask the questions I forgot to ask, ‘Charity, your mom is a doctor. Is it possible to pull venom from the jaw?’ I ask.
‘Yeah, actually,’ she says, her head whipping to mine, her blue orbs as wide as saucers while her brain works to make the connection I already have. ‘Doctors do it for mates who are too injured to heal each other. Holy shit…’ she trails off as the realization begins to settle.
“You sticking us whenever won’t work,” I say, shaking my head in defiance, “you need a designated spot to shoot us from, reducing the risk of you being found out. But we can figure that out later, how potent are they? Did he tell you?”
“Damon’s dart is enough to kill him,” Jonah answers honestly, the guilt heavy in his voice, “or keep him in a coma for life. If his wolf somehow manages to survive.”
“Well we are going to need to change that formula. He only needs to be unconscious three to four days top,” I tell him. through the mindlink to Charity and Theo I say, ‘we also need to add my venom to Damon’s vial as an extra precaution.’ I get a small nod of acknowledgment before they both turn their attention back on Eli and Jonah in their own private conversation.
“Okay,” Jonah says, nodding in agreement, “but we still need to find a better place to give these to you, because right now I have nothing.”
“I have an idea,” Charity says aloud, her eyes darting to cousin a stern look, ‘but it requires you making Victor and Emma your Gamma’s. Plus it’ll strengthen your claim with all three positions having Staller b***d in the line.”
Neither men take long to think it over before nodding in agreement, as our heads bend together to work out the other kinks in the plan. So engrossed in the work we are doing I barely notice as the sun begins cresting over the horizon.

Saturday Morning- Damon’s Ball
Last night my resilience caved, the dam broke and I found myself writing out every detail of my plan in excruciating detail; everything included down to the milisecond. I also included a five page letter filled front and back filled with a million sorry’s littered through out the papers.
I explain how I needed to do this for Scarlett, for our future as Alpha’s, and that I am sorry for not including him in the plan before now but I needed it to be believable. I needed Tiberius to think he had won, and he wouldn’t otherwise.
I wasn’t even going to give him this, but the thought of leaving him completely in the dark doesn’t sit right with me. I have a responsibility to Scarlett but I also have one to the relationship I created with Damon and leaving him completely in the dark isn’t honoring it.
Holding the file in a death grip, I take a deep breath before stepping onto the front steps of the ally I haven’t called upon yet. Raising my fist to the door, I let my knuckles rap against the hardwood door a few times before it swings open to reveal Simon, with disheveled hair.
“I am sorry to wake you Beta Simon,” I say clutching the file to my chest, “but I need a favor. I know Theo told you everything we had planned. When Damon wakes up, I need you to give this to him. Please?” I ask, pushing the file into his hands, my face pleading as he nods absentmindedly.
Having came here to do what I intended I turn on my heel and walk down the porch steps in the direction of the training field to meet Charity and Theo. We need one last day of preparation before entering the lions den.
