The Possessive Alpha
Chapter 104

ELLE POV

***********FLASHBACK CONTINUES***********

“Oh?” I say, careful with my words, while I rack my brain to determine where I went wrong, “about what?”

“You have chosen a path to take,” She says as her eyes scan through the first before returning her piercing gaze to mine. While a serenity surrounds Selene, the same cannot be said about me. My heart is racing in a panic as my palms begin to sweat. If Selene is here, then maybe this is the wrong path to take, and I am about to royally f**k things up. “Are you confident in your choices and the possible consequences?”

“Yes,” I say without hesitation because I have accepted the possible consequences of my actions. I have accepted that I could lose Damon over this choice of keeping him in the dark. But I am choosing Scarlett’s entire life work over him and Slade. My stomach is knotted with fear and apprehension as thoughts of Damon never forgiving me invade my thoughts.

As if she can sense my internal struggle, the Goddess steps toward me until I am wrapped in the warm glow of her strength and power. “You have chosen the more difficult path, Alpha, and with that comes more consequences. However, there is a reason Damon and Slade are in your life; trust in that.”

“Are they..?” I stop myself from asking the question, unsure whether I want the answer to the question, only to hear Scarlett’s tense voice in the corner of my mind. ‘You don’t want to know; it’ll only make these choices a hundred times harder.’

“Would you like to know?” She asks, holding me at arm’s length and holding my gaze in a concerned stare, “I cannot guarantee that it will secure your end goal, and it might hinder your success. Although, if you want to know, I can allow you to have that confirmation before your birthday.”

“No, why make things unnecessarily harder on both of us,” I whisper, my heart weeping at the decisions forced upon me, the responsibility to be an idol for Luna Borns everywhere from now until the end of time. Why couldn’t I just be like every other girl around, who gets to have their mate moment without all this other bullshit getting in the way.

“Probably the wisest decision,” Selene says, stepping away while the warmth of her hands fade from my skin. “While I may not be able to return all of your memories, I can answer some of the questions you still have.”

“What will return my memories?” I ask, while I anxiously chew on my fingernails, an internal alarm screaming that I already know the answer, and it’s probably not one I want to hear.

“I think that riddle has already been answered,” she says, throwing me a knowing look, “only the venom from the person whose touch tingles will be able to reverse that unfortunate situation.”

“Aren’t you the Goddess?” I ask, incredulous that she doesn’t have the ability to snap her fingers to get what she wants. “Can’t you do whatever you want?”

Her light, angelic laiugh fills the space around us, like music filling my ears as she shakes her head. “Is that what you wolves really think? Even I have my limits, and their are other forces that balance the universe but I will aide you in whatever way I can.”

“So, there is no getting around wearing Damon’s mark?” I ask, my feet absentmindedly pacing in front of the Goddess while the plan keeps shifting in my head. This was something I was really hoping to avoid.

“I wouldn’t be so sure about that,” Selene says, sounding cryptic in her responses, never giving away too much and now I know where the wolves get it from; their mother. “There are other ways to get a wolf’s venom in the skin. Maybe Charity’s mother can assist in that answer.”

“Alright,” I say, “and where does Jonah fall in this scenario? Does he hate me? Damon? What does he gain from this alliance with the fraud?”

“That will have to be something you discuss with him,” she replies, a sad look on her face as she thinks about Jonah, “I think Thursday morning during your training session will be the most ideal time. You have someone more important to meet tomorrow morning.”

“Theo’s friend?” I ask, having heard no other information from him about this mystery man who is supposedly perfect for our kind of recon mission. Although his inability to give more than that sets me on edge. I have too many enemies, many of whom I had never met in person and I can’t tell if Theo’s friend is another one in disguise.

“Yes,” she nods, watching me as my feet continue their endless pacing along the forest floor, “and I would trust him. This alliance between the two of you will affect generations to come. I would not discount the aide and support you could gain.”

“Well are you going to tell me who this mystery person is?” I ask, slightly agitated by her cryptic words and responses to simple questions. s**t, why can’t any adult give me a straight answer? These endless codes and this half assed commentary isn’t cutting it anymore.

“No, I can’t,” she remarks, a mischievous glint in her eye, the glow around her brightening slightly by the second. “What kind of journey would life be if we just had the answers to everything? Even I am not that lucky. My time here is almost over, what other questions do you have? Ask them quick!” She implores with urgency, as her eyes widen and hands flapping in anticipation.

“What else did my parents lie about?” I ask, figuring they had to lie about more than just my looks and shitty name.

“Your birthday,” She says, as the brightness of her aura becomes almost unbearable to look at even with my hand blocking the view. “Your eighteenth birthday is six days after Damon’s ball. Good luck, I will be watching over you.” Selene continues talking as her image fades into an ethereal mist, returning to the energy of the universe leaving me alone in the forest, as the midmorning sun peaks through the trees.

****The Next Morning****

Turning over in the bed I have been sharing with Damon since our return from the city, my entire body buzzing from all the places our skin is connecting. Like I have done for the last few mornings, I enjoy watching him sleep. The calmness that surrounds him when the rest of the world is quiet is unlike I have ever seen him.

As if he can feel feel my stare, even in his sleep, his hypnotizing blue eyes pop open instantly finding mine in the darkened room, the only light coming in from the moon still high in the sky. “Biscuit?” he whispers, his voice still raw and husky with sleep but it doesn’t stop the shivers running through my body or the liquid already pooling in my panties.

Before I can stop them my lips have captured Damon’s. Sparks and guilt wreaking havoc on every cell in my body, as his hands bring me closer while he positions himself above me, a growl of approval rumbling through his chest. I pull away to trail k****s along his jaw hungrily, nibbling lightly on my journey to his earlobe before capturing them between my teeth.

A small g***n of approval escapes his lips as my hands travel along his arms and shoulders, enjoying the feel of his shoulders, and arms, underneath my palms. The Goddess did a wonderful job creating this man, and I am about to leave him here without any knowledge of the plan. Am I a horrible person?

Sensing my internal hesitation, Damon rolls from off top me, before pulling me into his chest and resting his head against mine sighing in comfort. “Are you okay?” He asks, while his hands lightly massage my scalp, trying to relax the tension starting to form at the top.

“I am fine,” I lie through my teeth, praying that the the Goddess makes me choke on them, so I could stop being put in this position. But then Scarlett’s reflection pops into the forefront of my mind, the amount of lifetimes she has invested into this goal and it makes the lies a little easier to swallow. “I am just running late for training with Charity and Theo.”

“Do you have to go?” He whines, wrapping his arms around me to bring me closer while his nose nuzzles into the top of my head a deep inhale of my scent finding comfort in it.

“Fine,” he clips out, “but you do realize you have only been a Luna for a few days, I don’t think anyone would judge you if you take some time to figure things out.”

“Maybe not,” I say, pulling myself away from his chest, to look him in the eyes, “but can you admit that I will have more to prove than you? That it doesn’t typically work out well for Luna Borns unless they are lucky enough to be paired with a caring mate?”

“You’re right,” Damons sighs, grabbing my hand to stop me from leaving the bed, before raising my trembling hand to his lips with his warm breath dancing along my knuckles. The briefest k**s graces my tender skin before dropping it making my internal organs momentarily freezing and begging for death at the loss of contact.

I can sense his eyes on me, his curiosity undeniable based on the intensity of which he looks at me, as I gather my socks and shoes from their proper places. Once they are secured to my feet, I walk to the other side of the bed before bending down to capture Damon’s lips in mine in fiery passion before heading out meet Theo and Chairty for our next part of the planning phase.

“Are you sure you don’t want stay in bed?” Damon whispers in my ear, his words like hypnotic honey wanting to suck me into his vortex of comfort and pleasure. “I’ll make it worth your while.”

“I know, you can,” I reply slyly with a giggle before placing one last gentle k**s against his cheek and pushing away from him at lightning speed knowing if I stay in his arms a second longer I’ll never be able to leave. “But I really must go, Charity and Theo have been waiting on me.”

Before Damon has the chance to say another word to convince me to stay I am out the door and headed to the border to meet with Theo, Charity, and the mystery guest.

****************

Twenty minutes later Scarlett’s paws are breaking through the forest tree line to find my friends already there and waiting for me. Walking past where they sit, I hide behind the safety of a tree to shift back into my human form approaching the others as they stand to greet me.

“And you’re sure that your friend agreed to meet us?” I ask, still skeptical of the whole situation and if this persons is as a trustworthy ally.

“No, he didn’t” Theo snaps, his voice laced with sarcasm, “I just felt like getting up at the a*s crack of dawn for the hell of it.” He pushes away from tree trunk stomping into the tree line to leave a snickering Charity and I to follow behind him as he tears through the forest in search of the territory line.

“So who are we meeting?” I ask, the further along we get into the journey, and closer to the Pack border.

“His name is Alexander Stiles,” Theo responds, his grumpy morning blues starting to subside as he moves a branch out of our path.

“I dont recognize that name,” Charity comments as she follows behind us, “what pack is he from?”

“He isn’t in one,” Theo says as we come upon a field in no man’s territory, and I have a sinking feeling I already know what his answer is going to be. “Xander is a rogue Alpha and yes I trust him.”
