The person whom Marianne hated the most in her life was Jenna.

For as long as she could remember, her mother had always been in tears every day at home. Her father rarely came home, and at that time, her mother had told her that her father was hooking up with a vixen outside. So, that was the reason why he did not care about them.

The vixen that her mother spoke of was Jenna, whom Shawn had been hiding in this mansion on Steerlain Island.

At that time, Marianne's mother was still pregnant with her sister, and it was precisely because she had been pregnant with her sister that she had ignored her regular medical checkups and failed to detect and intervene in the initial stage of cancer in time. After being pregnant for ten months, her mother then breastfed her sister for half a year after she had given birth. During that time, her mother had been unwilling to take a single pill even if she had a cold in order to ensure that her breast milk was healthy. Thus, her condition had been delayed even more.

When her mother finally realized that she was feeling unwell and went to the hospital, the doctor had informed her that she had cancer in the advanced stage.

The doctor had also said that the rapid development of her condition was because of her depression.

Marianne had always been unable to forgive her father, Shawn, because of this, and even more so, Jenna, who was in front of her.

Jenna knew that she was in the wrong and so, she had never dared to have a direct confrontation with Marianne. After giving birth to her son, she had tried to use her position as a mother by virtue of her son in front of Shawn to find a way to get Marianne out of the family. However, after several attempts, Jenna realized that although Shawn had never admitted his mistakes to Marianne on the surface, he had always felt indebted to his daughter. This was also why Shawn was very tolerant and forgiving toward Marianne.

Jenna had never been able to find a suitable opportunity to drive Marianne away because of this.

As a result, the three people who each had their own thoughts had fallen into a bizarre stalemate.

At this time, Charlie tried to ease the situation as he said to Shawn, "Mr. Long, as an outsider, I do not want to interfere with your family affairs. Why don't I leave first, and we can talk again another time?"

When Shawn heard this, his attitude quickly changed, and he smiled as he said," Oh, I'm really sorry, Mr. Wade! I have embarrassed myself in front of you because I was incompetent and failed to teach my daughter well!"

After that, Shawn said to Marianne,

"Mr. Wade is here today, and we should not embarrass ourselves in

front of Mr Wade. I have no other requirements for you. Just have a good meal together with us and help me entertain and bring Mr. Wade around Hong Kong in the afternoon. I won't take up any of your time anymore starting tomorrow. What do you think?'

Marianne asked immediately, "What about the fifty million Hong Kong dollars you promised me, then?"

Shawn waved his hand and said pleasantly, "I will cash the money in to the charity tomorrow as long as you help me take good care of Mr. Wade!"

"Okay." Marianne agreed without hesitation and said, "I agree to your request!"

When Charlie heard this, he smiled slightly and said, "Since the both of you are in agreement, let's sit down and talk while we eat, then."

Shawn smiled and said, "Yes, yes. Let's chat while we eat!"

The four of them then sat down at the dining table, and the maids immediately brought up a variety of different dishes.

Almost all of the dishes were classic Hong Kong dishes, and each dish was extremely elaborate.

Shawn asked Charlie to eat, and he

also introduced the expensive

st

dishes to Charlie, "Mr. Wade, our Hong Kong cuisine is famous all over the world for its precious and expensive ingredients. The ingredients used at my house are the best of the best! Look at these shark fins, abalone, fish maw, and bird's nest, all of which are the best of the best! My chef is also a master of Hong Kong cuisine. There are so many dishes on the table, and any one of them can be called the pinnacle of Hong Kong cuisine!"

Charlie nodded slightly. He did not touch his cutleries but instead, he looked at Shawn and asked seriously "Oh, by the way, Mr. Long, I've heard that roast goose is among the classics in Hong Kong cuisine. I wonder if Mr. Long's chef has prepared it?"
