Evelyn signed up late, so there was only one spot left in the competition. She worked on her design draft overnight, submitting it just before the deadline.

A day later, the organizers called her and asked her to arrive at Skyline Tower by 2 p.m. to compete on-site for the last spot with the eight contestants who had already passed. Evelyn was worried about traffic in the afternoon and decided to take the subway.

When she got out of the subway station, she immediately spotted a Rolls-Royce Ghost parked at the entrance of the building.

That was Charles' car.

The car door opened, and Charles stepped out first. He walked to the back seat, bent down, and gently lifted Sandy from her child seat.

The little girl wrapped her arms around Charles' neck, smiling sweetly at him. "Thank you, Daddy. I love you the most."

Standing beside the father and daughter, Dahlia posed gracefully, feigning jealousy. "You love daddy the most. What about me?"

"Of course, I love you, too. Mommy, give me a kiss." Sandy's smile were sweet as honey. She pouted playfully, waiting for Dahlia to come closer.

The smile on Dahlia's face deepened, and her gaze towards her daughter became even more tender. She didn't miss this chance and moved closer.

Charles was holding Sandy, so this brought Dahlia very close to him. So close, she could feel his breath on her face.

Dahlia's cheeks instantly flushed, and she shyly glanced at Charles. Her heart was pounding.

Their eyes met, full of unspoken words.

The atmosphere between them was charged. This scene attracted many onlookers.

Charles was the head of the Jenkins family, a top-tier power in the Capital, but he rarely appeared in public and had never been fully exposed, so no one recognized him. His handsome features, superior physique, and luxury car already made him the dream of many.

Everyone envied them.

Dahlia reveled in the gazes, casting a meaningful look in Evelyn's direction. She saw Evelyn watching them.

Dahlia's smile deepened. She had noticed Evelyn from the moment she appeared.

The next moment, her smile froze. As the distance between them closed, she saw the design drafts in Evelyn's hands.

If Evelyn was coming here with design drafts at this time, she was clearly here to compete for the last spot in the jewelry design competition.

Why? There was no mention of Evelyn yesterday.

Dahlia had checked. In the last round, there were only seven people competing against her. None of them were a match for her skills.

She was confident of winning.

But now Evelyn was here...

Five years ago, they were both admitted to the University of Capital, finishing first and second in their major.

Evelyn was first, and Dahlia was second.

They were technically only one rank apart, but Dahlia knew deep down how big the gap between her second place and Evelyn's first truly was. With Evelyn here, she had no chance. Dahlia clenched her fists subconsciously.

"Why did Evelyn come here alone?"

Hearing this, Charles followed Dahlia's gaze. He also saw what Evelyn was holding, and his brows furrowed. "Evelyn, what are you doing here? Where's Charlie?" Evelyn ignored him, continuing on her way inside.

Charles didn't see Charlie, and his frown deepened. "Why are you such a careless mother? Charlie is only five years old. How could you leave her alone at home?"
