The Blacklisted Rogue -
Chapter 13
Sally POV
We reached the bridge that headed into town. I had hidden my backpack under a large rock by the river that flowed underneath it.
When I came back up to the road I checked that nothing was missing. Everything had been left untouched while I was gone, so all the cash was still there. I heaved a sigh of relief. I looked at Elijah and nodded.
"All good." I chirped. "My brother Luke gave me some cash to start over. I have tried to save them the best I could. Maybe we could use it as a down payment on an apartment or something."
"Great." He smiled, showing some dimples in his chin. My stomach did somersaults. I really liked his smile. We were in such a serious situation, and we still weren't out of danger, so I haven't really seen him smile much this far. His smile suddenly faded and was replaced with a worried expression.
"When I sever the ties to the pack, does it hurt much?"
I led him to a patch of grass by the side of the road and pushed him down on his knees. I kneeled in front of him and gently took his hands in mine.
"Only for a moment, but I'm right here with you. Use the mate bond to ease the pain and you'll be fine." I reassured.
He nodded and took a deep breath.
"Here goes." He sighed.
"I, Elijah Black, Omega of the Midnight Pack, hereby cut all ties with the Midnight Pack and will become a Rogue."
His face immediately contorted in pain and he put his hands on his head, groaning.
I pressed my forehead against his and hoped that my presence might ease the pain a bit.
After a few minutes Elijah started to relax and rested his head on my shoulder. I wrapped my arms around his waist, relishing the feeling of the sparks on my skin.
We stayed like that for a few minutes until Elijah's breathing steadied.
"You are so strong. How did you handle this all on your own?" He panted.
I smiled sadly.
"Because I had to, I guess. I did it in front of the elders, my Alpha and my entire family. I just screamed from the pain."
Elijah still had his head on my shoulder, but I still heard when he mumbled:
"I'm sorry you had to go through all that."
Elijah raised his head. Our faces were so close our noses almost touched.
His gaze quickly darted to my lips before he crashed his lips against mine.
The mate bond was humming in my chest. Sparks jolted through my body like an electric current. Suddenly nothing mattered anymore. I didn't care about where we came from or where we were going. All that mattered was him. He was here with me.
We broke away from each other, gasping for air.
"We should go." Elijah whispered.
I broke from the trance I was in and suggested that we might use the river to wash the mud off. Elijah laughed and grimaced at the thought of going into the freezing water.
When we took our clothes off, I noticed that Elijah had red marks on his back. I walked up to him and traced them with my fingers.
"Did Alpha Richard do this to you?" I asked quietly.
Elijah pulled me to him and I noticed several scars on his chest and abdomen too.
"It was worth it. I kept him from hurting you."
I felt like crying, this is all so messed up.
"Promise me we'll never go back there." I whispered.
Elijah pressed his forehead against mine.
"I promise." He said softly.
The water in the river was freezing, so we quickly rinsed away the worst of the mud and got back up to the riverbank.
Because I had been injected with wolfsbane, my wounds hadn't healed yet. I hissed when I put on Elijah's hoodie. "Are you in pain?"
I closed my eyes, feeling dejected.
"If it wasn't for the Wolfsbane I would be fine now." I muttered.
"I'll shift and carry you." He offered.
"Are you sure?"
"I'm basically all healed up, so I'm fine. Besides, It's easier for me to keep you warm in my wolf form."
Elijah started to take off his clothes again. I looked away and heard his bones break.
After a few seconds I felt him come up beside me. His snout gently judged my arm and I turned around.
My wolf was larger than his, but his head was in level with my head so I wouldn't say that he was small either.
I quickly packed up our clothes in my backpack and pulled out the map that Luke gave me.
"I don't know what you think, but maybe we should head south." I traced a route on the pack with my finger. Elijah's wolf followed my every movement. "If we stick to the other side of the river, we won't risk crossing any pack borders." Elijah's wolf bobbed its head up and down and I smiled.
"That's a plan then."
I quickly gathered our clothes and jumped on his back. Then we took off along the river.
Alpha Richard POV
I was standing in the empty cell.
Unbelievable.
The pretty little brat escaped.
I looked at the rope and the open window.
She had help to escape.
Was it another Rogue we missed?
I sniffed the air.
No. This was a pack wolf, and the scent was familiar.
I grabbed the rope and smelled it. I just couldn't put my finger on it.
Then it hit me.
Ampel.
Beta Rafe walked into the cell.
"No sign of her, Alpha."
I balled my hands into fists and stormed up to him.
"Ampel helped her escape. How is it that a Rogue and an Omega were able to slip past the guards without anyone noticing?" I screamed in his face.
"Ampel was once meant to become Gamma. He must still remember the guard routes."
"Change the protocols immediately." I ordered.
I remembered that Ampel had shown up and the worst time, barging into the cell block just when I was about to have a taste of her.
"Wonder why he would help her escape." I muttered.
"Maybe she's his mate." Rafe joked.
I frowned.
"What? I wouldn't put it past Ampel to have a filthy Rogue as a mate. He's basically a runt himself." Rafe continued.
A smile stretched across my face.
"Find them and figure out if they are mates. If they are, I wanna kill her slowly and make him watch."
"Alpha, I got a hit in the Blacklist on Sally Freeman."
My Gamma called through the mindlink.
That surprised me. She seemed so innocent that I was sure that she escaped from somewhere.
"Go ahead." I commanded.
"The Rogue was sentenced to exile after killing an alpha blooded wolf."
I chuckled.
If a she-wolf was so fierce that she could kill an alpha and still act so innocent she deserved some respect.
I glanced at my Beta.
"Change of plans."
Rafe raised his eyebrows.
"How so, Alpha?"
"Capture them and bring them to me. The Rogue is a fierce killer. I will keep that filthy Omega around and he'll have to watch his mate become my Luna." Rafe grinned.
"I like it. Let him watch while you mate her too."
I smirked.
"Find them."
