Sweet Twins Indulge in Daddy's Love -
Chapter 586 No Protection
Charles was also interested in finding out the truth, so the police couldn't say anything more. The only thing they could do now was to continue investigating the club. If it was done by someone from the Fu family, Charles assured them that he wouldn't protect them, but he insisted that they find evidence against them first.
"Joseph, it's time for us to go back." Charles stood up to leave.
"Let's go, Charles. I haven't eaten yet. Can you take me out to eat? I'm so hungry. I want to have a big meal. A big meal..." Joseph gave the policeman a smug look before following Charles out.
"What else can you do besides eat?" Charles stepped out of the interrogation room, his face looking as cold as winter.
"What's wrong? If I didn't even know how to eat, I would be silly," Joseph shot back.
"Humph! You're going to look like a fool when you film," Charles said with a snort.
Charles opened the car door and sat in the driver's seat. Joseph quickly opened the door to the passenger's seat and got in.
Judging by the look on Charles' face, the club case was a serious matter.
Charles started the car slowly. "Charles, does the club really have something to do with our grandfather?" Joseph asked tentatively.
Charles remained silent.
Joseph felt more anxious by his silence. "Grandpa is an old man. He's been decent his whole life. He couldn't have ended up like this."
"What are you talking about? It can't have something to do with Grandpa. However, they found out that Grandpa was the only legal representative of the club. Whatever his subordinates did, it wouldn't damage Grandpa's reputation. What I'm concerned about is..." Charles wanted to elaborate but stopped himself on second thought.
Joseph began to feel impatient. "Charles, we're brothers. Let's stop beating around the bush. Don't keep me guessing, okay?"
"I'm guessing it has something to do with your father," Charles explained slowly, drawing out each word.
"What?" Joseph's mouth went slack in surprise. He shook his head and said, "No, that can't be. I've never heard my father mention anything about the Romantic Private Club. I'm the young master of the Fu family. I've been to so many famous clubs over the years, but I've never heard of it! What I can't understand is why the Fu family has such a club, and it even opened in the suburbs! It's not open to make money, but for money laundering. Am I right?"
At the thought of this, Joseph suddenly stopped speaking and had a panicked look on his face.
"Oh my god, is my damn father involved in money laundering?" Joseph asked hesitantly.
Charles didn't reply.
"Charles, please be straight with me. No matter what Derrick does, he's still our family. You can't just stand by and do nothing!" At the end of the day, Derrick was still Joseph's father. Joseph didn't want anything bad to happen to him.
"We're just assuming at this point. There's no evidence against him yet. The police haven't found anything.
However, you told the police that if someone does something wrong, they should be punished by the law. We must follow the law, regardless. Right?" Charles said seriously.
"I know, but..." Joseph swallowed hard.
After pondering for a while, Joseph finally made up his mind and said, "Alright. If he did something wrong, we should turn him in."
"It's not that simple. I'm worried about Grandpa. He wouldn't be able to cope with Derrick going to prison. If something were to happen to him, he wouldn't survive." Charles lit up a cigarette and took a puff, feeling frustrated.
"Then what are we supposed to do?" Joseph had no idea how to deal with this. He looked at Charles.
Charles thought for a while and said nonchalantly, "I spoke to the attending doctor a few days ago about Grandpa's condition. He told me that he still has half a year to live. I'm hoping that the police will delay things as much as possible. The ideal scenario would be that when the club case is exposed to the whole world, the ones involved get the punishment they deserve. All this would have to happen after Grandpa passes away.
If your father is involved in this, would you be able to hand him over?" Charles took a deep breath and asked.
"If the police can find evidence against him, I'll leave it up to you. It's your choice." Charles didn't want to avoid this issue, but he also didn't want to have a bad relationship with Joseph because of this. "I... No way!" Joseph shook his head repeatedly. "I'm just a troublemaker. I can't put righteousness before family loyalty."
"When the time comes, you have the right to make a choice. It's up to you." Charles was a cunning man. If Joseph were to report Derrick to the police, he would be lauded for placing righteousness before family loyalty.
He would protect and boost the prestige of the Fu family. This was a win-win for everyone.
However, Charles knew that he couldn't demand too much from Joseph. He didn't want Joseph to resent him because of the interests of TS Group.
That was why Charles was letting Joseph decide for himself.
Joseph used to be a delinquent, but he was a good-natured person. He would make the right choice if it came down to it.
"We can talk about it later. After all, it might have nothing to do with Derrick!" Joseph said after taking a deep breath.
"I hope you're right," Charles replied with a cold face.
"Where are you going now?" Charles asked.
He knew that Joseph was still filming, but Charles didn't have time to pay attention to Joseph's developing relationship with Daisy. Charles didn't know if they still lived together.
"Of course I'm going to Daisy's house," Joseph answered.
"Really? Are you sure you're in love with Daisy?" Charles smiled.
"She's my woman. I lost her before because I was careless. Can't I get her back?" Joseph said awkwardly.
"Of course you can." After some time, Charles continued with a smile, "You didn't cherish her when you had her. You didn't know how good she was until you lost her."
"Isn't that normal for humans? I don't think I'm the only one who has that problem, right?" Joseph smiled vaguely.
Nancy's face popped up in Charles' mind, but he didn't say anything else.
"After I divorced Daisy, I thought a lot and figured things out. People can't be too arrogant. When it comes to relationships, you should cherish what you have. Don't let it slip by you, and regret it after!" Joseph said passionately.
"Are you talking about me and Nancy?" Charles chuckled, "There's no problem with us."
"No one knows for sure. I think Nancy is a rare woman. You should cherish her," Joseph reminded him.
"I'll remember that," Charles replied casually.
