"Mere dreams!" Joseph whispered again.

"You bastard! You are so naive!" Derrick scolded Joseph. He answered the phone in disgust, "Hello, Father."

"Well, well, well. Do you want to tell me what happened between you and Anna?" Frederic asked in an angry tone.

His voice was so loud on the other end that Joseph could hear him.

"Ha-ha! Father, why don't you stop bluffing? Has my grandfather called you to teach you a lesson? Or are you still hoping he'll give you the TS Group? Humph!" Joseph snorted just as Derrick did earlier.

"Look, I don't know who Anna is," Derrick answered, turning pale. His voice shook a little.

"How can you even deny it? See for yourself." Frederic sent a video to his WeChat inbox.

Derrick clicked it open. He was so shocked that his towel fell to the ground.

Joseph ran over to take a look. What he saw scared and surprised him so much that he couldn't close his mouth.

He had no idea that Derrick and Anna had an affair.

It seemed to have caused a big issue.

But Derrick was his father. Joseph, too, would be at the receiving end should the battle be lost.

And he was not stupid enough to let that happen.

"Father, Charles must have sent that video to you. I've explained already. It's not me in the video. They must have used someone who looked exactly like me. That's pretty easy to figure out if you ask me." Of course, Derrick wouldn't admit it. Because once he did, his game would be up.

He blatantly denied it without thinking twice.

"I want to see you immediately!" Frederic shouted with hatred.

In the fierce struggle for riches and properties, terrible things went down in wealthy families.

Frederic didn't know who he could trust now.

Charles would not give up the TS Group. And Derrick wasn't backing off either.

"Father, look at this carefully. Even if it's true that I had an affair with Anna, it doesn't change the fact that Nancy and Edward were married. That was not a simply made-up tale. Focus on the real issue here!" Derrick was indeed a fox. He pointed accusing fingers at Edward and Nancy yet again.

"Well, yes. But in any case, show up right away. And hurry!" Frederick concluded.

Hardy was always obedient to Frederick, but Derrick was the rebellious one. They had quarreled for several years about it, but Derrick refused to change his ways.

How then could he possibly expect Frederic to commit the company into his hands?

"It's late already. I'll come tomorrow morning." Derrick ended the call.

Joseph laughed at him. "Do you realize how powerful Charles is now? I told you that he has many spies at his disposal. He has been watching your every move since you returned."

"You moron! I'll kill you!" Derrick was raging. Joseph did not care about his anger and went on to add fuel to the fire.

He attempted to hit Joseph again.

But he flung the remote control away and ran up the stairs to be away from his raging father.

Meanwhile, Frederic had not expected that Derrick would end the call so abruptly.

He frowned, held his chest, and coughed violently.

"Grandpa, how are you feeling? Will you go to the hospital?" Charles asked anxiously.

"No, I'm not dying just yet. Let me rest, and I'll be fine," he replied.

Charles helped his grandfather lie down before he left the room.

Hardy and Angelina were at the door.

They had heard Charles and Frederic talking and didn't dare to go in to them.

When they saw Charles, Hardy looked up at him worriedly. "How's your grandpa now?"

"He's going to be fine," Charles whispered.

"Charles, I have to ask. Derrick seems to have some terrible plans. What exactly do you think he's going to do?" Angelina's question was laden with worry.

Charles thought for a while and said, "Mom, don't worry. I won't let him go too far before I stop him."

Angelina seemed doubtful. "I want to believe you but it's hard. I'm worried sick!" "It's okay. Why don't you get some rest with dad?" Charles replied, straightening his clothes and heading down the stairs. Angelina chased after him. "Are you not staying?"

She had someone to support her only when Charles was home. Although Frederic was shrewd, he was already old and weak. She was afraid that Derrick would try to attack him at some point. "Well, the kids are waiting for me. I have to go back. Call me if anything comes up," said Charles, looking down at his watch.

Angelina resigned, "Okay, I hope everything will be fine."

Charles didn't want anything bad to happen either. If his family got plunged into trouble, the public would only see the fun in it. But since Derrick was bent on causing problems, Charles decided he would have to deal with him.

He drove to Edward's house.

Edward and the kids had fallen asleep by the time he arrived. Nancy heard the sound of his car and came out to welcome him.

Charles got out of the car and walked up to meet her. He put his arm around her and asked, "Why are you still up? Were you waiting for me?"

He kissed her forehead.

"Have you seen today's news?" asked Nancy.

"Don't be such a worrywart. Why are you bothered about it? Let's go to bed." Charles couldn't let Nancy worry over the situation. Edward ought to have clarified it.

He wasn't going to let the media continue to make random guesses. That wasn't going to play right for him.

"How are we going to solve this problem between

Edward and me?'1 Nancy said again, unable to forget it. "I haven't had the nerve to discuss it with Edward yet. My tongue feels tied every time."

Frowning, Charles said, "Well, I think I know what to do. But I still don't know who is behind it particularly. Not to worry, the truth will come to the open soon enough. Let's be patient."

He didn't want to tell Nancy that it was Derrick who was causing the problems. Better still, one could say that he didn't want to cause a scene.

So he did all he could to keep everything under his control.

It was better if the outside world believed that the family was okay.

They'd rather fight their battles privately than airing their dirty linen in public.

"I'm so sorry, Charles!" Nancy blurted.

"Don't be silly," Charles smiled.

They walked into the living room arm in arm.

"Are the kids asleep?" Charles inquired.

"Yes, and they seem to be unhappy too," Nancy replied.

"Sad? Why?" Charles sounded nervous at the news.

"Nadia told me that some kids in school were talking about the relationship between Edward and me. Alas, this issue makes everyone uncomfortable. What are we going to do?" Nancy was getting annoyed.

"Kids... At that young age, what do they even know about the situation? Why would they be discussing it?" Charles asked thoughtfully.

"Well, the internet has become so vast these days. The children have their cell phones. How would they not see it? Besides, everyone is talking about it," she answered helplessly.

"I'll deal with it as soon as I can. I'm doing my best. Don't worry, okay? Let me go check on the kids,"

Charles reassured her and left for Nadia's room.

When he turned on the wall lamp in the room, he saw that Nadia's eyes were closed, but her brows frowned.

She looked disturbed.

He walked up to her bed and kissed her on the cheek.

"Nadia, my good girl. Don't be afraid. I won't let anyone hurt you."

Nadia put her arms around his waist and said, "Daddy, people say I'm Uncle Edward's child."
