Sweet Twins Indulge in Daddy's Love
Chapter 386 A Long Way To Go

She couldn't understand why Jay was asking her these things.

Neither did she know the purpose of her hiding the past from him.

It was possible that she was afraid of telling him about her terrible past so that he wouldn't look down on her. She probably wanted to impress him so that he would accept her. Maybe, that was her motive for hiding the truth all this time.

Based on that, it might have meant that there was no love between her and Jay.

If she truly had feelings for this man, then she wouldn't be willing to hide her past from him.

Doris felt like she was walking into a cloud of fog and simply couldn't get out.

"Okay," Jay said softly.

For now, he needed to make sure he was gentle and patient towards her as much as possible, because it seemed like it would take a while to regain her trust in him. The truth was that Jay was really upset, but he had to suck it up and hide his true feelings in front of her.

All of a sudden, Doris paused in the middle of her tracks.

"What's wrong?" Jay asked curiously.

"Excuse me. I'm sorry, but which room am I supposed to be in?" Doris asked.

"Well..." Jay raised his finger and pointed towards a door.

"Thank you." Doris proceeded to walk inside.

Jay followed her into the room.

Doris stopped in the middle of her step and looked back at him.

"It's getting late, Doris. The baby must be tired by now, so you should go to bed." Jay took out a hair dryer from table and helped her dry her wet hair. "Okay," Doris answered in a detached voice.

"Alright." Jay placed the hair dryer back on the table and proceeded to remove the belt of his robe.

His strong, ripped chest was exposed in front of her, which caused Doris to instinctively cover her eyes. From shock, she asked fiercely, "What are you doing?" "Didn't you agree to go to bed already? So, let's go to sleep now," Jay said in utter confusion.

"1 did tell you I was going to get some rest, but I never said that you could sleep in the same bed as me. I need to have my own space," said Doris in her defense.

"I..." Jay pointed to himself, then at Doris. "Doris, I'm your husband. We're a couple... A couple! Why can't you accept that fact?"

Jay couldn't understand why this woman wouldn't even allow him to share a room with her.

'Doris, what the hell do you want me to do?' he thought.

"Can you even prove that we're actually a couple?" Doris asked arrogantly. If they were truly a couple, their close relationship would surely leave at least a little bit of memories about them. It made no sense the she could not remember anything about him.

She was worried that this man was only taking advantage of her.

In an irritated state, Jay sighed and opened the drawer to take out the couple's marriage certificate. He placed the certificate into Doris' hands and said, "Here. Read these words stated in this document. What does it say? You can be suspicious towards me all you want, but you can't doubt the law, right?"

Doris unfolded the marriage certificate. In the photo, there was a bright smile on her face. She didn't seem to look like she thought she was being exploited.

The smile on her face became awkward. "Jay, I'm not suspecting you at all. However, I don't know anything about our relationship. The situation is also making me confused and upset. Could you just give me some time to process all these things?"

"Yet, you seem to remember Felix, don't you?" Jay roared as he was feeling dejected. It hadn't been long, but his patience had already been worn out.

"Yes! Felix is my childhood sweetheart and my protector for years. Of course, I remember him!" Because Jay was yelling at her, Doris couldn't help but get angered and yelled back at him.

So, Jay simply turned around with an angry attitude and left.

He slammed the door shut.

Left standing still for a few moments, Doris then lay on her bed, still feeling frustrated and annoyed.

She was too tired and sleepy to get into a fight with Jay. Besides, she was hoping that she could remember everything by the time she woke up.

Going through this without her memory was just too much of a burden.

Moments later, Doris was drifting in and out of sleep. Suddenly, images started flashing in her mind of a group of people running after her. It was led by Samuel Liang.

"Doris, you bitch. You're the one who hit me! Ha-ha... You will pay for this for the rest of your life!" Samuel's tone was incredibly arrogant, and a wicked smile appeared on his face, making him look like a devil straight out of hell.

"I just hit you, Samuel. You're weren't even hurt..." Doris tried her best to shout, but the words couldn't escape from her throat.

She wanted to run away as fast as she could, but all of a sudden, her legs didn't seem like they were working.

"Felix! Felix, help me!" Doris roared.

Jay's mind was a mess. He spent so much time trying to make sense of it all that he couldn't fall asleep.

He leaned against the head of his bed, lighting himself a cigarette and ruthlessly smoking one cigarette after another.

The words that he heard from Felix about his past with Doris kept nagging through his mind.

The more Jay thought about it, the more he was taken over by profound sadness and bitterness.

All of a sudden, Jay heard a loud scream coming from the other room. Although, it wasn't Jay's name that she was calling, he still rushed to her room the moment he heard it.

He found Doris sitting on her bed in a daze, with her face flushed pale. From the moment he saw her, he could already tell that she was frightened.

Jay sat on the corner of her bed, held her tenderly in his arms and asked, "Doris, did you just have a nightmare?"

Doris placed her head on his chest for comfort and said, "I just dreamt about Samuel. He was trying to kill me!"

The moment she finished her words, tears burst and streamed down her cheeks.

Ever since Jay met this woman, he had never seen her so fragile. He always thought that Doris was a tough woman who was often carefree, but he never knew that deep inside she could also be a vulnerable girl.

"Well, Doris. How about letting me stay by your side from now on? Are you okay with that?" Jay kissed her softly on her forehead and continued, "We're a couple, okay? We used to sleep in the same room and on the same bed. Furthermore, you would never agree if I ever dared to sleep in another room. You were always so possessive of me, constantly doubting my love for you. You were always worried about me falling in love with another girl. Now, I'm telling you that I love only you. Don't think about it too much and stop trying to get rid of me. Okay?"

Jay desperately tried to explain to Doris.

"Really? Is that true?" Doris asked in disbelief.

"I promise you that it's the truth. Just think about it. What reason do I have to deceive you? You're my wife, and you're pregnant with my child. Why would I lie to you?" Jay said these words as if he were coaxing a little child.

"But you're a man born into a rich family. How could you fall in love with a person like me?" This was the question that was nagging at Doris' brain and she simply couldn't understand.

She came from the same world as Felix and never had anything to do with the rich, upper class societies. She couldn't understand how she would meet a person like Jay.

"Because..." All of a sudden, Jay couldn't simply explain the reason that he had fallen in love with Doris. It was going to be a long conversation. So he just smiled gently and said, "All that matters is that I do." "What about me? Did I love you the same?" asked Doris.

Looking at the handsome face of the man in front of her, Doris actually found his appearance to be very striking. It was completely in line with her liking and preference for men. All that she couldn't understand was why couldn't she feel love towards the man in front of her.

She simply didn't feel anything when she looked at Jay.

She wondered if loving him was a possibility.

After thinking about it for quite some time, Jay suddenly said, "Of course you love me. You can't even sleep unless you have kissed me every night. Besides that, every night you would hold my hand so you can sleep easily."

As much as possible, Jay tried to convince Doris that his relationship with her was very intimate. This way, he could get closer to her and gain her trust.

Removing the gap between the two was an urgent matter that he had to prioritize from now on.
