Upon hearing that familiar voice, Doris immediately turned her head.

'Auntie?

Didn't I already leave? How could I still see her face?

Am I dreaming right now?' she thought, rubbing and squinting her eyes in an attempt to better check her sight.

However, a clear image of Felix's mother, smiling with her bright eyes, was really flashing before her.

"Oh, auntie, hadn't I left? Why am I lying here?" Doris moved her body subconsciously, causing the bed to creak.

"Yes, Felix drove you home, but you suddenly fainted, so he brought you back. How are you feeling now?" the old woman asked in a low voice.

Doris tried to recall what happened, but her head suddenly throbbed in pain.

More than that, her mind was full of memories from her tragic past, and as much as she wanted to brush them off her head, she could not.

That small village she had lived in, Samuel Liang, and her father-all of them haunted her mind. And at that sudden recollection, Doris hugged herself in horror.

"I didn't hit anyone. Samuel has nothing to do with me! Don't catch me. Please!" she shouted hysterically as a dreadful look of fright painted her pale face.

Upon seeing this, Felix's mother was caught flabbergasted, and for a while, she was frozen to her

feet.

The past was still a thorn in Doris' memory and seeing people that reminded her of those tragic happening triggered the pain that she had been trying to conceal for years.

"Doris, no one will hurt you now. You have me and Felix to protect you. If Felix begged the Liang family to spare you before, he would definitely fight them to death now. Don't worry!" The doting aunt held Doris' hands tightly and added, "Don't worry, my dear. No one will dare to lay a finger on you."

"Where is Felix?" After calming down, the latter now asked in a softer tone, surveying the room with her eyes.

"It seems that someone is here," her auntie said instead of answering her question. Then, the old woman stood up and uttered, "I'll go and have a look."

However, before she could even walk out, Doris hurriedly got out of bed and grabbed her arm, "Auntie, I'll go."

"Oh, alright. But be careful!" the old woman reminded with a hint of worry in her voice.

"It's okay. I can walk." Although her body was still a little weak, Doris could already feel her legs.

So without hesitating, she walked towards the door and saw Felix.

"Felix..." she called, ignoring the man who stood beside her childhood sweetheart.

"Oh, thank God you're safe, honey," Jay praised and immediately wrapped his wife in a tight embrace.

However, Doris didn't move and instead stared blankly at what was in front of her.

"Honey, what's wrong?" Jay could see his wife's strange eyes piercing him with so much unfamiliarity.

And it was not only him who noticed this. Even Felix, who was also confused, furrowed his brows tightly. Both men stared at her with bewildered eyes as they waited for her to speak.

After a while, Doris asked slowly, "Who are you?"

And that short question left them in utter disbelief.

How could she not know her own husband?

Jay was speechless upon hearing that. And with his mouth agape, he surveyed her from head to foot, trying to convince himself that it was not Doris who stood before her. However, the reality was too clear to ignore that it was indeed his wife.

"Doris, it's me, Jay, your husband! How can you not know me? Come on! Stop playing tricks on me. Let's go home!" Although Jay chuckled to make the atmosphere lighter, deep down, he almost trembled in fear and worry.

And much to his fright, Doris veered away from him and instead moved closer to Felix.

"Doris?" Jay's face was grim, and his lips were pressed into a thin line.

'Does she love her childhood sweetheart and not me? Is what Felix said true?!'

he thought, gnashing his teeth as he stared at the two.

How could Doris, who had already been pregnant with his child, suddenly not know him?

Was she pretending to not recognize him just to escape? Why would she do that when loads of women would beg just to be his wife?

The sense of frustration attacked Jay again, and for every second he intently stared at the two, his face grew darker.

"Doris, what is the meaning of this?!" Jay's blaring voice made the woman jolt in fright. Why was a stranger suddenly raising his voice at her?

As she wondered that, Doris grabbed Felix's arm tightly and asked, "Felix, did Samuel ask this guy to come here? They are going to take me away, aren't they?"

Felix wrapped his arm around her shoulder lovingly and consoled, "No, the Liang family would never do that while I'm here. Don't be afraid."

"Felix, you will protect me, right?" she asked, raising her head and staring pitifully at her childhood sweetheart.

"Of course. Don't worry, I'm here. No one will dare to hurt you!" Felix caressed her head and reassured with a smile.

Doris, who seemed to have calmed down, nodded and replied, "Thank you! You are so kind!"

At this point, Jay was so angry that he was about to explode. It seemed that these two people were deliberately showing off in front of him. And they were evidently making a fool out of him.

So, after losing his remaining patience, he stepped forward and aggressively grabbed her arm. "Doris, stop this nonsense and come home with me!"

However, acting as the woman's knight and shining armor, Felix brushed off Jay's hand and stared at the latter with intense, sharp eyes. "She doesn't remember who you are! Perhaps it's because you have always mistreated her! Look at how traumatized she is right now! Let her go!"

What did he just say? Let her go?

Huh! He would never allow that to happen! Felix could carve to it on a stone, but there was no way Jay was leaving without his wife!

"What the hell going on? Who is Samuel?" Jay ignored Felix's threat and instead asked. The former had never heard of the Liang Family or even that man Samuel since Doris had never mentioned them to him. In fact, now that he thought about it, Jay barely knew about Doris' past life!

What was more, Charles knew that she had a childhood sweetheart, while he her husband-was had absolutely no idea!

What did Doris hide from him?

What on earth happened to her in the past?

As those questions bombarded his head, Jay suddenly felt dizzy. But as soon as he stared at his wife's indifferent eyes, he almost roared in anger and frustration.

This woman, who had always been in his side, complaining and loving him at the same time, was so indifferent to him now. How could Jay accept this?

Trying to hold back his anger, Jay took a deep breath and replaced his angry expression with a softer one. "Doris, call Nancy. She is worried about you. Come on!" he suggested, hoping that the mere mention of her friend's name would bring her back to her senses.

However, Doris stared at him with yet another blank expression and asked, "Who is Nancy?"

When she said this, Jay almost broke down in a mixture of helplessness and resignation.

How could she not know Nancy? What the hell was going on here?

"Doris, did you lose your memory?" Jay managed to ask after gauging the situation. And as he tried to face the truth, he wrapped her in a tight embrace, praying that his familiar touch would bring back his wife. But just like any other third character in a love triangle, Felix stood between them, acting as a shield to protect the woman he loved. "Jay, can't you see that she is afraid of you?"

Yes, Jay saw the panic in her eyes every time she gazed at his face, which had never happened before.

"Felix, what did you do to her?" At this point, Jay clenched his fists tightly and turned all his frustrations to Felix.

"Mr. Fang, please don't blame Felix. He has nothing to do with this! I think your bad treatment had finally triggered the tragic memory of her past. So please don't make things difficult for her!" Felix's mother, who couldn't keep herself inside the room, finally went out and interfered.

"What do you mean?" Jay turned to the woman with his mouth hanging open. Then pointing at his head, he asked, "You mean there is something wrong with her psychologically?"

"You don't know what Doris has gone through in the past, and your domineering presence must have triggered her trauma!" the woman stated with utmost conviction.

"What happened to her?" the poor husband asked in a trembling voice as he stared at his wife with a pair of pitiful and regretful eyes.

"It's hard to say. But I'm afraid you need to stay away from her." Felix's mother shook her head again, also staring at the poor woman who hid behind Felix.

"Doris, please come back with me! I can't live without you, honey. I love you so much!" Helpless, Jay begged for the first time in his life, even almost kneeling so that his wife could see his pain. How could he go home without his wife? It would be like living half-dead.
