Sweet Twins Indulge in Daddy's Love -
Chapter 372 Asking Knowingly
Charles sighed almost inaudibly. He loosened his grip and said, "Give the medicine to Edward and get him to drink more water. You... Just stay with him for a while." After saying that, Charles turned around and left.
Nancy stood in the corridor, motionless for three minutes. Did that really happen or it was just an auditory hallucination? Did Charles really give her permission to accompany Edward?
Nancy looked at the medicine in her hand and made sure that she heard it right. Then she turned around and walked into Edward's room.
Edward's lips were a little pale and dry. Nancy felt guilty that she forgot to give Edward some water. "Edward, wake up. You need to take your medicine."
Nancy gently shook Edward's arm. He slowly opened his eyes and asked, "Nancy, why are you in my room?"
Edward was asking knowingly. In fact, he knew that Nancy had been there all night. He just wanted to avoid embarrassment.
Besides, if Charles asked him later, he could also pretend to be oblivious.
"You have a fever. Charles got you the medicine." Nancy fetched some water for Edward and put the medicine into his mouth. "Take the medicine and then rest some more. You will feel better soon."
"What? It was Charles who got me the medicine? I..." Edward sat up rashly and exerted pressure on his wound by accident. He grunted in pain.
"You are dizzy because of your fever. Be careful! Do not move recklessly." Thinking of what Edward said last night, Nancy couldn't look at him in the eyes. "Charles reminded me to make you drink plenty of water."
"Well, thank him for his concern." Edward took the cup from Nancy and drank it in one gulp.
Nancy brought the thermometer and said, "Edward, put the thermometer under your armpit so we can check your temperature."
Edward stared at Nancy in silence. Nancy rubbed her face self-consciously. "I didn't sleep much. Am I looking so ugly now?"
"In my eyes, you are the most beautiful woman in the world. How can you call yourself ugly?" Edward said slowly.
"You're just fooling around with me. Have a good rest. I'll go downstairs to get you something to eat." Nancy turned around and walked out the door.
Edward stared at her back as she walked away. He placed the thermometer under his armpit and slowly closed his eyes.
'Nancy stayed with me last night. It was nice to have her company.'
When Nancy went downstairs, Charles happened to come back from his morning exercise.
"Edward has taken the medicine. I'm going to the kitchen now." Nancy rushed into the kitchen.
Charles shrugged and smiled. She didn't bring up the fact that she accompanied Edward last night. Why did she seem so reluctant?
Did she do something that made her feel guilty?
No, no!
Even if he didn't trust Edward, he should believe in Nancy. She was not that kind of woman, absolutely not!
Charles proceeded to take a morning shower and changed into casual house clothes. When he came back downstairs, Nancy was still busy in the kitchen. She was cooking pasta, presumably for Edward. Charles walked in and smiled, "Edward likes pasta?"
Startled by Charles' question, Nancy's body stiffened. "Yes."
"What about me? I also like that," said Charles as he breathed in the smell of her hair.
"Then you should eat plenty later," she replied.
"Nancy, you seem so distressed about Edward's injury. Were you crying? I mean last night..." Charles leaned in and nibbled on Nancy's earlobe.
Bit by bit...
"Yes. I feel sorry for him!" said Nancy in a low voice.
For a moment, Charles' expression was blank. And then he was back to usual as he said, "It's nothing. I'm fine, really."
Nancy sniffed. "Oh, Charles, I know what you are thinking. He is like family to me so I naturally feel bad for him. You think too much!"
Charles denied, "No, of course I don't think too much about it! Trust me. I will find out who is behind Edward's kidnapping, and I will let you punish the person. How about that?"
"You will let me punish the kidnapper, really?"
"When do I ever lie to you?"
Nancy turned around and pecked Charles' face.
"Sounds great, then! I will definitely make them pay!"
That night, Bobby had a beautiful dream.
In his dream, he and Nadia captured a bad guy and they became little heroes. He was so thrilled!
So as soon as he woke up, he ran to Edward's room without getting dressed first.
"Uncle Edward, it's time to get up. I have good news to tell you!" Bobby shouted cheerfully and ran to Edward's bed.
However, he found Edward sweating heavily. His forehead was drenched with sweat.
"Uncle Edward, are you feeling hot?" Bobby asked with concern.
Edward just took the antipyretic, so it was normal for him to sweat.
Hearing Bobby shout, he slowly opened his eyes.
"Bobby... Is that you?"
"Uncle Edward, you're finally awake! Didn't you say yesterday that you would take me and Nadia to the library today? It's time for you to get up. Let's go early!" Bobby rubbed his face against Edward's. "Okay, then I should get up!" Edward stretched out his arm and forced himself to cheer up.
But he wasn't careful enough with his movements. The wounds on his body were exposed by accident.
Bobby's eyes widened. He gently touched Edward's back and asked, "Uncle Edward, what happened to your back?"
"Bobby, don't worry about it. It doesn't hurt." Edward frantically reached for his clothes to cover his bruises.
"Uncle Edward, I saw it. Tell me, who beat you? I must avenge you!" Bobby said furiously.
"I injured myself by accident. You don't have to guess. Why don't we go downstairs to eat?1 Edward always believed that love, not hatred, should be sown in children's hearts.
Every child had an angel and a devil in his heart. Guiding them for their good was what mattered most.
Bobby pursed his lips and kept silent with a straight face.
Edward was feeling much better now. Perhaps it was because his fever had been brought down.
He and Bobby went downstairs.
"Nancy, you cooked pasta..." Edward beamed at Nancy when he saw the pasta on the table.
Spaghetti had always been his favorite. He didn't expect that she still remembered it.
Back when they were abroad, it was always him who cooked for her. Never did he expect that one day, she would be the one cooking for him.
"Not very authentic, but Edward, why don't you give it a try?" Nancy smiled sheepishly.
"It must be better than my pasta!" Edward sat down with appreciation.
He would have wanted to say was that no matter what kind of pasta she cooked, he would surely love it.
"Kids, let's have breakfast." Trying to conceal her blush, Nancy called on the children.
"Mommy, uncle Edward and Bobby are already downstairs. Why didn't they call me? Did they sneak out to catch the bad guys? Why didn't they take me with them?" Nadia went downstairs as she asked with grievance.
"Nadia, we're waiting for you. You slept soundly so we didn't have the heart to wake you up!" Edward scrambled for an explanation.
"Really? Bobby?" Nadia asked suspiciously.
The first thing Bobby always did when he woke up in the morning was to wake her up, but today he didn't!
It made Nadia a little upset.
