Sweet Twins Indulge in Daddy's Love
Chapter 349 Don't Marry Him

Nancy walked away in anger.

She had never been one given to impatience. But since she came to live in the old mansion, she had felt ignored, bullied, and humiliated.

She'd have endured if those came from Angelina alone.

However, it was unbecoming that Charles, the man she had been with for such a long time, had suddenly begun to ignore her. She could no longer bear under the weight of his coldness. She was feeling herself crumble!

She left the house and took a taxi to the hospital.

She arrived at her office and changed her clothes, but her heart was still heavy.

She kept recalling Charles's cold words.

Something must have changed that man. She knew it. She just couldn't put her finger on what it was exactly. She had examined herself carefully to see if she was the cause, but still couldn't figure it out.

She was upset about everything. And so, when it was time for her to do the ward rounds, she heaved a sigh of relief and forced herself to focus on other less annoying things for the time being. She'd just throw herself into work!

"Director Nancy, are you finally getting married?" Erin asked quietly, following behind her.

She remembered Nancy's happiness when Charles picked her up the previous day. She had thought then that their wedding must be close.

It was thus, strange for her to see Nancy looking sad today.

She hoped that Charles and Nancy would get married soon, so she probed with caution.

Nancy sighed at Erin's question. She didn't even know what Charles was thinking or planning. How could she marry him?

When she saw that Nancy didn't answer, the nurse continued, "Director Nancy, you're not getting any younger. Mr. Fi is a great catch! He's a rare breed! If it were I in your shoes, I'd be very excited. He's famous, rich and handsome. What more could a woman want? You'd have a happy life with him. Say yes to his proposal!"

Nancy had not expected Erin to be this talkative. She snapped at her, "Since you think so highly of him, you should just marry him!"

Erin stopped in her tracks. What did Nancy mean? She would love to marry Charles, but would Charles want her?

She hurried to catch up with Nancy and said, "Director Nancy, I'd love to marry Mr. Fu, but he doesn't love me." Nancy replied to her, coldly, "Well, he doesn't love me either!"

"Huh?"

Erin gasped in confusion.

Even though she was daft, she could tell that Nancy and Charles were fighting. She stopped asking questions.

She avoided getting on Nancy's nerves and followed her cautiously into the ward.

Charles's mood was worse than Nancy's as he sat in his office. He picked up the document and flung it on the desk impatiently.

He fidgeted, sometimes sighing with annoyance and, at other times, pinching his eyebrows. He walked to the cabinet now and then to pour himself a glass of red wine.

But no matter what he did, he could not get the pictures that Abby sent out of his mind.

What worried him the more were the kinds of photos Abby had. Were they more shocking than what he had seen earlier?

His annoyance grew as he thought about it. Every second of the day was torture for him.

At about ten o'clock that morning, the secretary knocked to remind him of the meeting.

"Cancel it!" said Charles.

The secretary stared carefully and spoke in a quiet voice that showed reverence for her boss. "Sir, it's an important meeting. All the shareholders are attending."

"I said cancel it! Did you not hear me?" he roared impatiently.

The secretary didn't dare to say anything more and went out.

The shareholders were waiting for Charles in the board room.

They exchanged questioning looks. Charles had never been late for such an important meeting.

What was keeping him?

"What's wrong with him today?"

"I don't know. He probably had to attend to something."

"He's already thirty minutes late. He's always punctual.

Something must be wrong."

Just then, the secretary came in.

"Sorry, Mr. Fu would be canceling today's meeting," she announced politely.

The group went quiet for a while.

"If you'd like to stay in the board room for some time, I'll make coffee right away," the secretary offered.

"No, we're not here for coffee. We'd just like to know why an important meeting as this was canceled on such short notice. Do you mind giving us an explanation?" The senior shareholders were angry about the new development.

The woman hesitated and then said awkwardly, "The boss didn't explain, so I'm in no place to explain things either."

"Can we talk to Mr. Fu?" one of the men suggested.

"Are you unaware of Mr. Fu's authority? I'd suggest you consider the consequences before standing up to him," someone else said helplessly.

The man who just spoke sat back in his chair, frustrated. He then added, "How can he just cancel? Is Mr. Fu beginning to take us for granted?"

"Maybe, but no matter what, we can't just go up and face him. My opinion is that we get going since we can't afford to cross him," another shareholder pointed out and walked out of the room.

"You're right. We're counting on him to make money, so just suck this up!" someone echoed.

The group was displeased, but since the meeting was canceled, they left.

"If Derrick were here, he'd keep Charles in check!" The most annoyed shareholder was named Luke Zhang. He knew Derrick in person and had a good, private relationship with him. When everyone had left, he called Derrick.

"Luke?" Derrick was drinking in the garden. He was an ambitious man, but there was nothing he could do. He had put Joseph as a mole in the Fu's family. But Angelina busted his plans within a few days. All he did now was to flirt with women.

To him, Joseph was a black sheep.

He was so bitter about it and had been searching for an opportunity to take his revenge.

Suddenly, a golden opportunity was dropping in his laps.

"Mr. Fu, I'm aware of your loyalty to the TS Group, but the chairman made a mistake by handing it over to Charles. He's an arrogant man who takes us for granted. He canceled the shareholders' meeting today without as much as an explanation or an apology! He does not care about our opinions one bit!" Luke Zhang went on to complain.

"So? Tell me how you plan to handle things." Derrick narrowed his eyes and sipped some of his tea.

Although he and Luke Zhang were friends, he knew that he was a selfish and greedy man.

Such a selfish and shrewd man would not just call him to complain about Charles.

He must have come up with a plan since he called.

He could already guess what his plan would be as soon as he finished talking.

Luke Zhang lowered his voice. "Mr. Fu, I doubt you'd want to sit back and let Charles suppress us, the old shareholders. You have to come back to help us!"
