Sweet Twins Indulge in Daddy's Love -
Chapter 321 Heartache
Lying on the big bed, Bobby smelled the food coming in from the kitchen. He grinned and said, "It smells so delicious!"
Charles quickly whipped up some noodles for Nancy. He leaned over and gave it whiff before tasting it. He thought it tasted good enough and took it to Nancy.
"Honey, let me feed you," Charles said sweetly.
His calling of 'honey' made Nancy very uncomfortable.
"Don't call me honey. We are not married!" said Nancy angrily.
After a short pause, Charles said, "Okay. When I get home, I'll discuss our marriage. What do you think?"
With a smile, Nancy said, "That sounds awful!"
Angelina was never going to accept her into the family. It never crossed her mind and it never would.
So Nancy had no intention of marrying him at all.
If she wasn't going to be his wife, she most certainly didn't want to be called honey.
Charles frowned and seemed to be lost in thought.
He understood why Nancy was so frustrated. After all, anyone would be when their partner's mother hated them.
He needed to come up with a solid plan if he really wanted to marry her.
If things went on like this, Nancy and Nadia would end up with Edward sooner or later.
"Charles, you should go take a shower. I don't need you here to eat my noodles." Every time she looked at Charles all these emotions flooded her mind and she was left feeling nothing but distressed. He was by no means a good person. She shouldn't feel sorry for him, should she?
Charles raised his hand and ran it through her hair lovingly. "I'm going to take a shower. Wait for me."
Then he put the bowl in her hand and said, "I know you are hungry. Don't forget to eat your noodles." "Okay," said Nancy.
Charles was then off to the bathroom. Nancy looked down at the bowl of noodles and sighed deeply. She ate a little of the noodles and she was surprised at how tasty it actually was.
She knew Charles hadn't cooked before they met.
A bowl of noodles wasn't going to fix their problems though. She was still furious.
Doris once said, "Nancy, remember, as a woman, don't forgive a man's violence, or your life will be over."
She couldn't imagine that. She didn't want her life to be over!
However, that wasn't going to stop her from feeling conflicted.
She gobbled up her noodles quickly as she tackled her thoughts.
After taking a shower, Charles came back and took the empty bowl to wash.
The sound of the flowing water somewhat calmed Nancy's uneasy soul.
She wasn't as angry as before but she hadn't fully relaxed yet.
"Would you like to go take a bath?" After Charles came back, he looked into Nancy's eyes intently.
He already set the bath temperature for her. He recalled that the doctor said that they had to apply ointment to the wound.
She shot him an annoyed look. "I can take a bath by myself." Nancy got out of bed and put on her slippers. Although she had all the confidence in the world, her current state couldn't back that up. She stumbled a little and almost fell to the floor.
Luckily, Charles was quick enough to catch her and prop her up.
"Let me help you, okay?" Charles said worriedly.
"I can do it myself!" Nancy said firmly.
She didn't want him to help her. She didn't trust him not to hurt her.
She just wasn't ready to let her guard down.
Charles stood at the bathroom door anxiously.
He wasn't relieved until she eventually came out wrapped in her towel.
"Nancy. Does it still hurt there?" Charles asked.
Blushing, Nancy bit her lip and nodded.
"Do you need me to help you... to apply the ointment?" Charles said sincerely.
"No!" Nancy refused without hesitation.
She still didn't warm up to him. She muttered, "The ointment may relieve pain but I just need to rest more than anything. Do you understand me?"
Her voice was low and filled with hostility.
Charles brushed Nancy's hair aside and sighed, "Nancy, don't worry. I'm not going to touch you unless you want me to!"
Nancy nodded.
That night, Charles lay beside her but at an obvious distance. He really didn't want to make her uncomfortable anymore. He hesitated to so much as breathe near her.
Charles's alienation made Nancy very uncomfortable. He always did his best to make her feel good and to be honest, most times he was successful. He was just too overbearing sometimes even though it was partially irresistible.
But why was he doing this?
Respect?
Nancy's head pounded, trying to figure out how her relationship with Charles was going to carry on!
Charles eventually loosened up when he finally fell asleep.
Nancy raised her head slightly and looked at his handsome face in the moonlight. She slowly touched his cheek. His stubble was a little prickly. It seems like his beard had been left to grow.
With a smirk on her face, Nancy found a comfortable position and leaned into Charles's arms.
"Bang, bang, Bang..."
She abruptly woke up to the sound of knocking on the door.
She hurriedly opened her eyes and found herself still in Charles' arms. It was already dawn by now though.
It was probably Bobby or Nadia who were beating away at the door.
"Charles, the kids are coming. Wake up." Nancy shook him gently.
Charles opened his eyes, turned over, put on his pajamas and got out of bed.
He walked over to the door and opened to see what was going on.
Bobby and Nadia stood there, looking up at him.
"Why are you guys up so early?" Charles yawned and asked.
"Daddy, have you persuaded Mommy yet?" Bobby's big eyes were a little red. It seemed that he didn't sleep well last night.
After all, how could he sleep when his parents were fighting?
The first thing that came to the little boy's mind when he woke up was his parents.
"Honey, are you happy now?" Charles asked Nancy.
It was up to Nancy after all. She was the one who was angry.
With an embarrassed smile, Nancy said, "Good morning, kids. Mommy is fine now!"
"Okay, as long as Mommy is happy, Bobby is happy!" Bobby said, smiling brightly.
"Bobby, does that mean that they're together and happy?" Nadia's big eyes twinkled with excitement.
"Have you two fixed the problem?" Bobby frowned and looked at Charles.
Charles hurriedly put his arm around Nancy's shoulder and said, "Mommy and I have always been great. We always will be!"
Then he turned to look at her and asked, "Right, honey?"
He leaned in a little closer trying to force the answer out of her.
Nancy didn't know how to answer. She didn't exactly have an outstanding life yet. How could she say that they would always be great?
She just wasn't ready to commit to what Charles said.
"Ah yes. Kids, you must be hungry. Let's go have breakfast! We better go quickly. You have school and we have work!" Nancy changed the topic abruptly.
