Sweet Twins Indulge in Daddy's Love
Chapter 308 Nancy Is A Good Person

Jessie walked confidently, surprising all the doctors she passed.

"What's up with her today? Why is she so energetic? Didn't Director Nancy hit her?" someone asked in a low voice.

"She seems like a completely different person from yesterday!" someone remarked.

Jessie stopped to address them, "Don't talk nonsense. Director Nancy didn't hit me. I felt dizzy and happened to faint yesterday. It has nothing to do with Director Nancy!"

"Are you sure? That wasn't what you told us yesterday. You said it was Director Nancy who..." the man interjected.

"I told you, I was dizzy yesterday. I don't remember anything I said. Don't take it too seriously. I'm going to go and explain what happened to her now. She... She's actually a good woman!" Jessie said, blushing. "What? Jessie's acting so weird today. I can't believe she actually said something nice about Director Nancy. She told me before that she couldn't stand Director Nancy. Why the sudden change of heart today? "Who knows? Maybe she misunderstood Director Nancy."

"Director Nancy is a good doctor," someone argued.

"I agree with you on that. Director Nancy doesn't try to milk her patients for more money the way Jessie does!" After one person made that claim, everyone started to talk about it amongst themselves. Jessie's face reddened in embarrassment. She had only tried to ask for a little extra money, but now she was being judged so harshly for it. After the embarrassment subsided, she couldn't help but feel irritated. How could she not blame Nancy now?

If it weren't for Nancy, why would Charles have any reason to punish her? How did she get to this point? When did she become a target for public criticism? Regardless if Nancy did it on purpose or not, or whether Anna was trying to stir up some drama, it still had something to do with Nancy.

Setting aside thoughts of their past grievances, Jessie still felt she had to thank her for the time being.

Jessie hurriedly ran out to the outpatient department.

She arrived to see the waiting hall full of people.

Standing at the entrance of the outpatient department, she craned her neck to look for Nancy. She found her busy examining a patient.

By the look of things, it seemed like the patient was suffering from a fracture.

Nancy raised her head and found Jessie walking towards her.

Knowing her intentions for coming to see her at this time, Nancy greeted her with a friendly smile.

Jessie greeted her back with a smile of her own.

Nancy turned to face the patient again, rechecking his wound. Seeing her preoccupied, Jessie decided to come and see her again at another time.

There was no doubt Nancy would have her hands full all day.

Fortunately for her, she could leave work on time, regardless of how many more patients needed addressing.

Rubbing the back of her neck, Nancy took out her phone to check the time. It wasn't too late yet. She still had enough time to pick up the children. Quickly sending a message to Charles, she informed him that she would go and pick up the children.

After reading her message, Charles smiled to himself in satisfaction.

He had been hoping for Nancy to spend more time with the children, instead of ignoring them because of her busy schedule.

With a smile on his face, he replied, "That's nice to hear, Nancy. I have a business dinner scheduled tonight. I'm afraid I'll be home late. Go ahead and have dinner with the kids. You don't have to wait for me." 'This man is busy again socializing!' Nancy thought and sighed in resignation.

"No problem!" she replied.

Putting her phone away, she left the room to go change and continued to drive to the kindergarten.

After school, Bobby and Nadia were waiting together to be picked up. When they saw Nancy walk towards them, they both smiled at her, delighted that she was the one coming to pick them up.

As they walked back to the car, the three talked about how their day went, laughing amongst themselves.

Nancy figured she would take this chance to take the children out to eat since Charles wouldn't be home till late.

"Kids, would you want to eat out instead of having dinner at home? What would you like to eat?" Nancy asked them as she patted their heads affectionately.

Nadia considered her question, tapping her bottom lip as she thought about what she wanted to eat. "I want... pig's feet!" she finally said. She had always been fond of greasy food, and pig's feet were her favorite.

"Are you sure you're my daughter? Doris also likes pig's feet. You seem more like her daughter!" Nancy teased.

She remembered her friend fondly, who also liked greasy foods.

Back in school, Doris was a bit chubby but still beautiful. When she began working, she was able to lose the weight gradually because her job was so hectic. She chuckled as she remembered Doris constantly complaining to her about not having enough time to eat.

Doris was an expecting mother now, so she had to eat all kinds of nutritious food every day to keep her baby healthy. 'What if she gains all her weight back?' Nancy mused to herself, smiling.

"Mommy, what would you like to eat? How about some dumplings?" Bobby suggested, interrupting her thoughts.

"Is that okay with you, Nadia?" Nancy asked with a smile.

"I want to eat meat!" Nadia said firmly. Her stomach was growling and she gnawed on her fingers. She was growing hungrier by the minute.

With her brows crinkled in determination, she looked adorable.

"Nadia, you're starting to get chubby. Are you sure you still want to have meat?" Nancy teased, pinching her cheeks as Nadia continued to frown.

"Mommy... Do you remember when Bobby and I went missing? The bad aunt also took us to go and eat dumplings. If we eat dumplings, will someone bad come and take us away again?" Nadia said, looking

up

at her mother with worried eyes. Every time she remembered that woman, she would still tremble with fear. "How about we have some steak and pizza instead? How does that sound?" Nancy replied, placing a hand on her daughter's shoulder to soothe her.

"What about you, Bobby? What do you think?" she asked.

"I'll go with whatever Nadia wants..." Bobby compromised. He didn't want to admit it, but he also felt scared whenever he remembered that woman.

"You're the best and nicest brother ever!" Nadia exclaimed, holding Bobby's face in her small hands and giving him a big kiss.

Bobby winced as she kissed him, smiling shyly at her.

Nancy then drove the two children to the restaurant.

When they arrived, they quickly looked over the menu and ordered their favorite pizza and steak. Nancy ordered a glass of juice and a piece of fried goose liver for herself. She ate slowly, enjoying her children's company.

Looking at her children eating happily and bickering amongst themselves, Nancy felt contented. It had been a long time since they were like this together.

It seemed as if all her troubles at work and in her life were fading away.

All of a sudden, a man lifted Bobby from his seat. Nancy pushed up from her seat, alarmed.

"Kid, light a cigarette for me!" the man jeered. He had a mean face with a bushy, unkempt beard covering almost his entire face.

"Excuse me, sir, you must have the wrong person," Nancy said uncomfortably. She walked towards Bobby, trying to pry him out of the man's arms.

Her efforts were futile, too weak to stand against him. The man's grip on Bobby tightened. He pushed her away with one arm, Nancy falling on the chair.

"What are you doing?"

she shouted anxiously.

"Relax, lady. I just want the kid to light this cigarette for me!" the man slurred, his breath reeking of alcohol.

This man was drunk!

"Will you please put him down? Why are you being so unreasonable?" she argued, taking out her phone to call the police.

The man reached for her and grabbed the phone away from her. "What's with all the fuss? It's just a cigarette! Do you want me to throw him across the floor instead?"

the man threatened, staring at her fiercely.

"Mommy, I'm scared..." Nadia pleaded, tugging on the hem of Nancy's shirt. She had always been sensitive to violence, and all the bad memories she tried to forget suddenly came out. Bobby calmly stared at the drunk man. "Uncle, do you want me to light your cigarette for you?" he asked.

"Yeah, just light it for me, will you? It's very simple. Don't you agree?" the man asked as he reached out a finger to pull Bobby's hair.

Bobby nodded calmly. "Okay, Uncle. I'll light your cigarette for you. Would you put me down first?"

"Sure thing, kid." The man sat Bobby back down on his chair and placed his lighter in Bobby's small hands.
