Sweet Mischief’s Rollercoaster Romance -
Chapter 490
Mia bobbed her head against her husband Andre's chest like a little bobblehead. She hugged him, feeling deeply moved. No one understood her quite like he did.
Cooper, Andre's younger brother, chimed in, "Mom, let Mia be. She's a matriarch now, remember?"
Andre then advised, "But listen to what Mom and Naomi said. During your postpartum period, all I ask is that you relax and avoid any strenuous activities. You've just had a baby, and it's a huge toll on your body." Mia obediently nodded, "I'll follow your advice, darling."
Andre smiled, fondly tousling her hair, "Good girl. There might be a treat in store."
Upon hearing about a treat, Mia's eyes sparkled joyfully, as charming as a crescent moon. Their little boy squirmed in Andre's arms, seemingly asking for his gift... or maybe... he was just hungry!
Many guests were first-timers at Andre's private mansion, even his father Hansen rarely visited. Everyone roamed around as if they were on a sightseeing tour.
When noon arrived, Mia thoughtfully reminded Andre, "Darling, let's have the kitchen prepare lunch. We can all dine together since everyone is here."
Andre had already planned it, but hearing it from Mia gave him a warm feeling. The lady of the house had taken her rightful place.
"Sure thing."
After lunch, the guests gradually left.
Mia privately pleaded with her father, "Dad, please take Mom with you. She's always nagging me. What if I get postpartum depression? You only have one daughter."
Andre, however, privately requested his mother-in-law, "Mom, could you stay here for a while? I need you to supervise Mia during her recovery. The staff can't manage her, and Naomi is too soft-hearted."
If the younger ones were left alone, their son would be the one to suffer.
Aaron, Mia's father, loved his daughter, while Madison, Andre's mother, found her son-in-law's argument reasonable.
So, when leaving, Aaron reluctantly took his wife home, and Madison announced, "I'm staying here to supervise Mia's recovery."
Later, Molly went to the hospital with her daughter after leaving Andre's mansion. "Molly, visit your father more often after your mom gets discharged. You, Andre, and Mia have all moved out, leaving your father alone at home."
Molly felt guilty hearing her father's pitiful plea, "I'm sorry, Dad. I've been so preoccupied with Mom's health, I've neglected..."
But then, Molly noticed something odd about her father's face. She immediately uncovered his act, "Wait a minute, Dad. Isn't Naomi at home too? And Leo and Anya stay over all the time, right? You've just become a grandfather, and you're probably visiting Maplewood Estates every day. Your social feed must be flooded with your grandson's photos. When do you have time for me?"
Hansen was speechless. Caught red-handed, he blinked awkwardly.
Molly frowned, puzzled, "Dad, did you want me to come home for a reason?"
Hansen shook his head, "I just missed you."
"Oh, you miss deceiving me more."
Upon hearing this, Hansen huffily rolled up the car window and ordered the butler, "Drive, let's go home."
On the way, Hansen asked the butler, "Am I a bad actor?"
The butler diplomatically responded, "Sir, Miss Molly noticed your act because she loves you too much."
Hansen nodded in agreement, "I think you're absolutely right."
Soon after, Hansen received a voice message from Molly on WeChat. She seemed to be walking in the hospital, with the background noise, "Dad, I know I tease you a lot, but I do love you, you know." Hansen played the message on speaker for the butler to hear, "Listen, isn't my daughter sweet?"
However, Hansen faced a dilemma. How could he trick Molly into moving back home and staying away from Chad? Recently, he found Chad more and more irritating.
When Molly returned to the hospital room, she immediately picked up her phone.
"Mom, have you finished your IV drip for the day?" Molly asked.
Coleen nodded. These past few days at the hospital had softened her demeanor. "Has everything been arranged at Mia's?"
"Yes, her mother and husband have arranged everything perfectly."
Coleen held her daughter's hand, "When you have a baby, I'll make sure everything is perfect for you too. Whatever others have, my daughter will have." Molly hugged her mother close, "I'm so lucky, Mom."
In the afternoon, Kendrick, Molly's husband, arrived with dinner.
After dinner, Kendrick and Coleen took a walk in the hospital garden, while Molly followed behind, capturing their silhouette in a picture and sending it to Chad. Chad shot back a message: "Get back inside, it's chilly out there."
Molly retorted: "Mom's got a thick coat on."
Chad replied, "I'm talking about you, Mom has Dad to look after her."
Jade, reading Chad's messages, could almost hear the tone of his voice and picture his gestures.
It wasn't long before Chad, still worried, dialed Molly's number. His voice was familiar and comforting, "Molly, are you back home yet?"
"Nope." Molly said, her voice playful and teasing.
A fond smile played on Chad's face, "I knew you wouldn't listen."
