Sky’s Rejection Chapter 16

(Royal Alpha Dimitri’s POV)

“Please.” I barked out in annoyance. I don’t understand why she always has to push my buttons. She smirks as if enjoying my frustration.

‘I want mate. Go to mate. Be nice to my mate or she won’t talk to us again.’ Demon whines, getting frustrated with me. If it’s not her, it’s you driving me insane. If you shut up, maybe I could stop snapping at her and have a little more patience. I responded back to him.

“Well, your so – called most trusted warrior has been…. ” Sky began to tell all of us, though she was speaking in a mocking tone. My patience is running thin and I need her to just get to the point. I GROWLED, CUTTING HER OFF. Al seemed agitated and slightly alarmed, intriguing me. What could she know that was so bad? If Sky doesn’t spill the news faster I won’t be able to hold in my temper.

I stared at Sky in frustration, “Stop playing around and just tell us what it is that you know and we apparently don’t.” I could feel the hostility radiating off of Ty, as my mate placed her hand on his arm. I felt Demon whimper inside me, as he wanted the affection she was showing Ty to be directed towards him. I could feel my emotions starting to build up inside me, making me want to explode.

Sky stood up suddenly, making me look at her in shock. “You know what, screw you almighty Alpha.” Sky told me with so much hostility. She mock salutes me and storms out of the room. Not telling us anything of what she knew about Al. Great, now I still have to figure out that problem.

Al took a breath of relief. s**t, whatever she knew must have been worse than I thought. I looked at him in suspicion but didn’t say anything. I don’t want him to think I am against him until I know what has been done. Then you have Dean and Mark, snickering and chuckling to themselves. This is just great.

‘Ariel, will you please go to Sky’s room and check on her?’ I mind linked to my female gamma and hope she can talk to Sky and at least decrease her anger.

‘What did you do this time, Alpha? Wait, isn’t Mark with you? How dare he not keep you inline so you don’t upset our soon to be luna. Well, if you ever stop screwing up, that is.’ Ariel links in annoyance. I can tell she is disappointed that I have upset Sky again. Why can’t she just talk instead of over reacting about everything?

‘You are the one who kept cutting her off. I wouldn’t have talked to you either.’ Demon defends our mate, he’s right. Why does he always have to be right?

“Ty, Al, could you both check in with boarder patrol and then report back to me?” I asked both of them. Ty nodded, as he stood up, answering my unasked question. I need him to keep an eye on Al at all times till I figure out what he has done and how serious it is.

“No problem, Alpha.” Al told me as he walked out the door.

“Of course, Royal Alpha Dimitri,” Ty answers with respect, as he walks out behind Al. Though I can still feel defensiveness underlining his every word.

“What would you like us to do?” Dean asked sarcastically. He knows I am deep in thought and can’t focus on anything but my mate right now.

I felt a strong emotion, making my heart pull down. As if something or someone is sitting on top of my chest. What is this feeling?Why does it hurt so much?

‘It’s mate, she needs us.’ Demon whispers, as if he’s feeling the pain more than I am.

“We have to go. Dean, go and investigate anything and everything about Al and his daughter. I need a report as soon as possible. Mark will come with me.” I annunciated every word as I ran out of the room with Mark on my heels.

‘Yes Alpha.’ Dean links me as he takes off in the opposite direction.

We rushed through the corridor until we reached the guest rooms. I paced back and forth in front of Sky’s room and debated about going inside or not. I want to be there for my mate, but I don’t want to push her if she needs space. This is so hard. I have waited nine years for a mate and here I am not even being allowed around her because of her thinking something happened that never actually happened.

‘Man up.’ Demon growled in my head, pissed that we are so close to our mate, but I haven’t gone to see her yet.

“Di, go in and check on her. I can tell the pull is bothering her as much as the mate bond is bothering you. Ariel says that she is upset and so conflicted. She needs you too.” Mark told me calmly, as he tried to encourage me to go into the room.

I lightly knocked on the door and then popped it open.

“How is she?” I asked, seeing that my mate was lying in Ariel’s arms. Her eyes are closed and her breathing is even, showing me she’s sleeping. I could see how red and puffy Sky’s face was from crying. The dried tears still streaking down her cheeks. My poor mate.

“Conflicted. Though now she is sleeping, I think we should probably leave the room and let her get some sleep.” Ariel says, as she gets up off the bed and heads towards the door. I walked to my mate and moved her hair out of her face, staring at the most perfect she – wolf I have ever laid my eyes upon.

‘She’s perfect.’ Demon speaks about our mate dreamily. She really is buddy. I completely agree. I commented back to my wolf. Hoping sometime soon she will allow me to be this close while she is awake. I walked extremely slow back out of the room and shut the door as quietly as I could so she could stay asleep.

‘Alpha, we have a problem.’ Dean mind links me. What could be going on? It had only been about ten minutes.

‘Royal Alpha Dimitri, I think there may be an issue. I am not sure what it exactly means but I have a feeling it has to do with what Sky needed to tell you.’ Ty links me with a hint of fear lacing his voice. Why would a highly respected Council Alpha be afraid?

“Should we get Sky?” Ariel asked in concern. I must have left the link open for my higher ups.

‘Did Al hear any of this conversation?’ I linked back to Ty. I hope I blocked him out, but I am not sure anymore.

‘No, I locked him out, he has no idea we are talking.’ Ty answers with certainty. Thank Goddess.

“I don’t think we should wake Sky. I mean she needs sleep.” I told them with a hint of my royal authority leaking through. My mate bond is already trying to protect her any way that I possibly can.

“But Alpha, she is the only one that knows whatever she was going to tell us about Al,” Mark says in confusion. She is my mate though and I want her to rest.

‘I added Sky to our link, I guess she fell asleep but she is up now.’ Ty links in humor.

‘It isn’t funny.’ My mate grumpily links us all, I can picture her pouting right now from being woken up.

‘Be quiet Ty, I swear if you keep going I will locate you and make you pay.’ Sky harshly links in annoyance. Remind me never to wake my mate up while she’s sleeping.

‘Alright, let’s all calm down. Ty, Dean, what is wrong with you two?’ I linked them all, waiting to hear what was so concerning we had to wake up a grumpy Sky for this conversation.

‘What’s funny is the way you looked when you sneaked out of our mate’s room just for High Alpha Ty to wake her up.’ Demon laughs inside of my head. I swear this wolf of mine is trying to drive me insane today.

‘Well, Alpha, you see… ‘ Dean starts linking everyone but just keeps stopping as if he is nervous to see our reactions.

‘Spit it out.’ I commanded through the link.

‘You can ignore the raging, impatient d**k. Take your time Dean, obviously Dimitri has no patience for anyone today.’ Sky links in annoyance as I picture her rolling her eyes at me.

‘How about I start. First, Sky, you need to stop causing arguments for the fun of it.’ Ty starts to link but gets cut off.

Sky chuckles, ‘Stop giving away what I am doing.’

‘Royal Alpha, I believe something is happening with Al. He seems to be agitated that you changed the position and number of warriors on boarder patrol.’ Ty links to all of us. What is he talking about?

‘He seemed to be marking where the patrol are on a paper map and their times.’ Dean links along. Why would he be doing that?

‘I didn’t change the number of warriors or positions.’ I replied through the link in confusion. I looked at Mark and Ariel, they both shook their heads negatively. Denying that they changed anything without letting me know.

‘Well, neither did I.’ Dean, linked.

‘My bad, that was me. I changed the schedule for the warriors, their positions and the number of them. Every six hours it changes.’ Sky links non – chantly.

‘I told you not to interfere, child. Why can’t you listen?’ Ty linked in exhaustion. They must have discussed this at some point.

I feel my anger building up, getting ready to tip over the top. How dare she do that without talking about it with me first. ‘ Just listen to mate and let her explain. When would she talk to you and discuss it first? You haven’t been alone at all. I am sure she has a good reason for doing what she did.’ Demon defends her. He is right. I should listen to her before freaking out.

‘Why would you do that?’ I linked to her calmly.

‘Wow, my mate can be calm. Well, in that case, it changes every four hours, so it doesn’t matter if he writes down the new pattern. Al has been feeding Intel to the rogue pack and that is why it has been so easy for them to attack. I watched him meet up with their leader, though Al wanted to over throw the leader and take his place. I tried to talk to you about it but he has always been around or had someone around to keep an eye out. So while he was busy watching you, Dean and Mark, I changed every little thing about security. He will never figure out the pattern.’ Sky links happily, as if she solved the whole thing.

‘Wait, where did he go?’ Dean asked in the link.

‘He left pack lands. I don’t feel him anymore. The rogues must be planning to attack soon.’ I told them, ‘Prepare the warriors just in case. We are going to have to go find him.’

‘I know where he is. His plans were to leave the pack a few weeks before the attack and take off to meet up with his daughter.’ Sky linked us quietly, though I can feel the pain dripping through the link.

‘Sky, are you okay?’ Ty asked in the link with concern.

‘Where?’ Dean asked in the link, wondering where we are going to get these two traitors back so they can finally be punished.
