Return Of The Prodigy
Return of the Prodigy Chapter 209

Adam entered the room and looked at Katie with gentle eyes.

He had acted as a bystander today. Regardless of what happened, he did not intervene and decided to let Katie handle it.

The way she had handled the crisis was nothing short of outstanding. She defeated Leroy Ortiz, gained complete control over the Chamber of Commerce, and obtained the respect of all the people at the scene. Without a doubt, the people in Lisle were going to see her in a new light. When Leroy used his trump card, Adam could not bear to see Katie suffer anymore and came to help her.

"Adam, have you found Austin?" Katie asked happily.

At that, all those in the room turned to look at Adam.

They all knew that Adam was the live-in son-in-law of the Hartleys. In the past, they did not think much of it as Katie was also an outcast, and the duo seemed well-matched.

However, Katie was famous right now, and the road ahead of her was bright. Yet, Adam was still the same and had hardly changed. No matter how they looked at them, they felt that Adam did not deserve a woman like Katie.

The crowd looked at Adam with some expectation, wondering how he would help Katie, but also with disappointment, wondering what Katie liked about him.

Leroy was flabbergasted at first. However, he soon returned to his senses and laughed wildly. "Grasping at straws, aren't we? Are you really expecting him to help you?

"Your husband is just a useless bum. Moreover, Austin would've left the country already. Unless this guy is a god and can make Austin return with a word, there's no way he can get you out of this mess!"

Faced with Leroy's mockery, Katie replied in all seriousness, "What you said is correct. My husband is indeed a god!"

The room fell silent.

After a short moment, Leroy burst out laughing. "Haha, you sure know how to make him look good. Or rather, how to make him look like a god! Even if you love him, it's ridiculous to say something like this."

All the reporters at the scene could not help but sigh and shake their heads.

"Love can really make one blind."

"I wonder how this guy managed to conquer Ms. Hartley."

"Ms. Hartley is gentle by nature. She probably didn't want to embarrass her husband in front of so many people."

None of them believed Katie and thought she was just trying to give Adam a hand.

At this moment, the police captain received a call. After conversing for a short while, he hung up and said, "Austin Turner was delivered to the police station not too long ago. According to his statement, Leroy Ortiz is the person who came up with this scheme. "Leroy Ortiz, you're suspected of fraud, embezzlement, and attempted murder. You are to return to the police station with us." Then, the captain walked up to him and handcuffed Leroy personally.

Leroy looked at him in shock, unable to believe what was happening. "Did you find Austin Turner? No, this is impossible! Al-Also, this has nothing to do with me!"

"Hmph, that's not up to you to decide!" The captain snorted and dragged Leroy away.

Leroy struggled, unwilling to accept his defeat. "You can't arrest me! This has nothing to do with me! I work for the Camdens, and they'll come to save me..."

Leroy's voice trailed off as he was dragged away.

At this moment, all the people in the room were dumbfounded.

After a short while, some of the reporters recovered. They turned to look at Adam and started asking questions.

"Mr. Drake, was it you who found Austin Turner?"

"How did you do it?"

Adam smiled and did not explain. Instead, he said, "Gentlemen, the show is over. You should leave."

Katie smiled brightly and added, "Everyone, thank you for what you did today. However, I still have a lot of work to do, and I don't have the time to entertain you. As for the members of the new Chamber of Commerce, please head upstairs. We should hold a brief meeting."

The businessmen in Katie's camp smiled. They knew it was time to distribute the spoils of war. As for the members of the old Chamber of Commerce, their faces were red with shame. "Ms. Hartley... I...

One of them tried to speak but found himself at a loss for words. He lowered his head in shame as his voice trailed off.

Finally, the few remaining members of the old chamber all left with their heads bowed.

At this moment, in Lush Life Spa.

Wyatt Moretti was on the top floor, watching the news on the TV.

When he saw Leroy getting dragged away by the police, he threw away the remote control and cursed, "That useless bastard! How did he fail despite all the advantages he had?" He narrowed his eyes and looked at the woman on the screen-Katie Hartley.

"Hmph, you did quite a number on Leroy. It seems I've underestimated you...

"You were lucky this time that you were able to capture Austin Turner. You won't be as lucky next time!

"Since Leroy wasn't up to the task, it'll be my turn now!"

Wyatt grabbed his phone and made a call, recounting in detail everything that had happened today.

"Don't worry, I haven't shown myself. No one knows that the Morettis are involved.

"Okay, I understand."

After hanging up, Wyatt prepared to leave.

But all of a sudden, the door to his room opened with a creak.

Two men with cold expressions entered and walked up to Wyatt.

Wyatt was startled. "Who are you? Why did you enter my room?" he demanded sternly.

One of the men said coldly, "Wyatt Moretti, 44 years old, manager of the Morettis Industries. You excel at solving problems, and you'll stop at nothing to reach your goals.

"You made use of Leroy Ortiz to gain control of Con-Tech. Then, you used Austin Turner's parents as leverage to make him follow your orders and sign a fake IOU between his company and Con-Tech. Since Austin Turner was arrested, it's time you follow." Realizing that the mysterious man knew all of his plans, Wyatt's expression changed.

"Who are you? Are you police officers?"

In response, the soldiers of the Black Snake Brigade simply moved to subdue Wyatt.

Wyatt struggled with all his might.

Thud!

One of the soldiers knocked Wyatt out with a muffled sound.

In the capital, Pike Island.

Enrico Morales, Jaylen Camden, and Mike Moretti were in the resort on the island, their faces gloomy.

Today, they were neither in the mood for cruising nor fishing. In the age of the internet, news traveled very quickly. Therefore, they already knew what had happened in Lisle today.

Jaylen broke the silence and said, "Leroy Ortiz failed."

Mike frowned and then snorted. "I tried to call Wyatt, but he didn't answer. He seems unreachable."

Enrico looked far into the distance and sighed. "The people I sent to Lisle didn't return. I fear something might have happened to them."

The trio fell again into silence.

"El Coco, what's the deal with Hartley Group?" Jaylen asked eventually.

He had always perceived Hartley Group as a tiny mouse that he could crush at any time. Yet, this very tiny mouse was able to steal Plot No. 3 from his family and then strike down Leroy Ortiz. What was happening was too strange and inconceivable. Enrico shook his head and replied, "I've never concerned myself with Hartley Group. My only objective is the Hamiltons."

Jaylen frowned and asked another question, "When will you be ready to take on the Hamiltons?"

Enrico glanced at him and said, "As long as you give me the information I need, I can set out even now."

Jaylen's eyes turned cold and brimmed with murderous intent. "Fine, let's destroy the Hamiltons then. Once those tiny mice lose the support of the Hamiltons, it'll be easier to deal with them.

"I want to see what kind of a struggle they'll put up when they lose the protection of their champion!"

Enrico narrowed his eyes and thought to himself, If the Hamiltons are out of the picture, you'll only end up worse off...
