Return Of The Prodigy
Return of the Prodigy Chapter 101

The next day, on the weekend.

After a night of turmoil for Katie and Annie, they finally slept in until the late morning.

At ten in the morning, Katie pulled Annie out of bed. The little girl seemed reluctant, jumping down from the bed and sleepily pouncing into Adam's arms. She tiptoed, approached his face, and without a second thought, gave him a smooch. "Mmm... Daddy, Annie's hungry."

Adam indulgently rubbed the little girl's head and happily said, "Alright, go wash up. Today, Daddy will take you to eat something delicious, and then we'll go to the theme park with Mommy, okay?" "Theme park?"

Annie widened her eyes instantly, the gem-like orbs blinking, and all signs of drowsiness vanished.

"Great, great! Mommy, Mommy... hurry up, Daddy is taking us to the theme park. Yay, I want to ride the merry-go-round."

Katie helplessly glanced at Adam, wearing a look that said, "You spoil her the most."

Half an hour later, the mother and the daughter finished grooming, changed into beautiful clothes, and the family of three happily went downstairs.

Just as they arrived downstairs, Katie's phone rang.

After a moment, Katie's expression became complicated. "My mom invited us to have dinner at their place."

Apparently, even as she spoke, she found it a bit surreal.

Gemma took the initiative to invite Adam's family for dinner. This was the first in the history of the universe.

Adam remained calm. "Maybe what happened last night made Mom understand a lot."

Katie still seemed a bit uncertain. "Maybe? My mom, that person..."

Adam chuckled, "Well, why not go and find out? Can Mom still poison us after inviting us over?"

Katie's cheeks turned slightly red, and she glared at him with a teasing expression.

"Since it's our first official visit, let's buy something for Mom first," Adam suggested.

After some thought, Katie nodded slightly. Perhaps this was an opportunity to change her mom's opinion of Adam.

The family of three bought coffee, two bottles of good wine, a set of clothes, and a handbag for Gemma from a nearby mall.

"Do you need to spend so much?" Katie felt a bit distressed.

The latest limited edition LV bag, costing over thirty thousand, was even more expensive than the one she had never carried.

Adam smiled, "The parents worked hard all their lives; it's only right to show them some filial piety."

Katie reluctantly nodded, consoling herself that sparing no effort to please your child wasn't bad.

After buying the gifts, the three took a taxi to Gemma's neighborhood.

Upon entering the house, Trey was busy doing housework in an apron, and Gemma was bustling in the kitchen. The dining table was already filled with several dishes. "Grandpa, Grandma, we're here! Um, Grandma, the food you made smells so good," Annie bounced into the house.

Although Trey and Gemma had always looked down on Adam, they couldn't help but feel fondness for Annie.

"Arrived? Take a seat first," Trey greeted.

Adam immediately put down what he was holding and walked over. "Dad, let me help you."

"No helping for him, that's his punishment." Gemma walked out of the kitchen and said.

Trey awkwardly said, "It's fine, it's fine."

"Mom, why did you prepare so much food? Anything else? I can help you." Katie rolled up her sleeves and walked into the kitchen.

"Alright, alright, look at your outfit. It's not suitable for cooking. Just bone soup is left," Gemma said.

After more than ten minutes, Trey finished cleaning, and Gemma also walked out of the kitchen.

The family of five sat around the dining table.

Gemma's culinary skills are indeed impressive, a table full of dishes with a perfect balance of flavors and colors.

"Dad, may I help you some wine?" Adam offered.

Trey's expression changed, about to agree, but immediately turned to glance at Gemma.

With a cold face, Gemma said, "No drinking. Quit alcohol from today onwards."

Trey felt a bit frustrated.

Matilda intervened, "Mom, what are you doing? Today is the first official meal together in our family. Let Dad have some."

After that, Katie took out the good wine Adam had bought, opened it, and poured a glass for Trey and Adam.

Gemma snorted but didn't say more.

"Dad, Mom, I toast to you for the first glass of wine. From now on, I am your son." Adam stood up and said.

Gemma glanced at him and said, "Don't rush to make a statement. Whether you become our son or not depends on our acknowledgment."

"Now, talk about yesterday's matter. How did you know about your dad being framed and all of Daniel's plans?" Gemma asked.

Adam thought to himself, as expected, he couldn't avoid what was bound to come. He knew Gemma inviting him for dinner wasn't that simple.Chapter102: Fannie Comes to Door

Gemma's question immediately caught everyone's attention, and both Trey and Matilda turned to look at Adam.

To be honest, they were curious too.

Daniel's plan was seamless, and it seemed like Adam knew every detail, as if he had been involved throughout. Adam smiled and answered, "Actually, the main credit for this goes to my dad."

"Him? What do you mean?" Gemma asked with a furrowed brow.

Trey also looked puzzled; how could he have credit? Why didn't he know?

Adam continued, "It was mainly because Dad won a lot of money in the beginning while playing mahjong. That made me suspicious, so I asked a friend to investigate. This investigation unraveled Daniel's entire plan." Gemma was stunned, not believing it, "Is it that simple?"

Adam nodded, "Yes, mainly because Daniel didn't expect me to know people from Swindlers' Guil."

After pondering for a moment, Gemma seemed to feel something was off but couldn't figure it out.

"What about your aunt Amanda? How did you know she was bribed by Daniel?" Gemma continued to ask.

Adam explained, "When I found out that Daniel framed my dad, I secretly had someone follow him. It happened to catch him meeting with my aunt. Then I asked a friend to help check my aunt's bank account and found the transfer records Daniel made to her." Gemma nodded as if understanding. The explanation seemed reasonable.

Unfortunately, she overlooked the most crucial point-how Adam could casually check Amanda's bank account, which was confidential information.

"You've had good luck. Daniel's meticulously planned scheme was exposed by you so easily."

"And another question, what's the deal with that bank card? Was the customer service person at the bank someone you arranged?" Gemma asked. Adam laughed, "Mom, that's real."

Gemma's eyes lit up instantly and she asked eagerly, "So, that card can really withdraw ten million?"

Adam affirmed, "Yes."

Gemma immediately reached out and said, "Give me the bank card, and the password. I'll go to the bank to try it out."

From the beginning, her attention was on this bank card.

Adam didn't hesitate, directly taking out the bank card and handing it over, "The password is Katie's birthday."

Gemma took the bank card, but before she could carefully look at it, a jade hand reached out from the side and took the card back.

Katie spoke, "Mom, that's enough. This is Adam's discharge card, he only has this one."

"Also, it's a miracle that Dad is safe this time. Don't be too greedy."

Gemma suddenly became dissatisfied, "You little brat, what did I do wrong? I just want to try it out and see if he's bragging again."

"Furthermore, isn't Mom doing this for your sake? If we could withdraw ten million, I'd buy you a house, and a car, and your family wouldn't have to go through such hardships." Matilda sighed, "Mom, I'm already content now. One shouldn't be too greedy." "Pooh, how am I being too greedy? In the end, it's because he doesn't have the ability. If he had half of Daniel's..."

Her words abruptly stopped halfway.

Gemma explained in frustration, "I'm talking about money, and status, not character. Anyway, he must find a job in the future. What kind of grown man doesn't work every day?"

"Even if you don't say it, the neighbors will still gossip, saying you've found a guy living off you."

Katie sighed, "Mom, are you starting again?"

Adam quickly added, "Mom is right. I will start looking for a job on Monday."

Katie hesitated for a moment and said, "If you don't mind, you can come and help me. There are many responsibilities on the project, but be prepared; the salary won't be too high." Adam smiled, "I don't mind. Helping my wife with work, I'd do it gladly even without pay."

Katie rolled her eyes at him, but her glance was filled with charming intentions.

"You two are really driving me crazy." Gemma wore an expression of hating iron for not becoming steel.

"And also..."

Before Gemma could continue, there were two knocks on the door.

Adam immediately got up to open the door. Looking at the person outside, he frowned and asked coldly, "Why are you here?"
