Rejected, but not Broken -
Chapter 110
Gabi’s POV
My gut is telling me that we are going to be attacked today. I don’t know how I know but I can feel it. I call together my team and get all 4 of my snipers on top of the packhouse, for the day. I told the patrols to change up from the regular schedules by 30 minutes and added two more patrols, so we would know about any trespassers as soon as possible.
I already told Tanner, and he trusts my gut too, it had been correct too many times to doubt it. I get my other 7 members of the team and we all have vests, and we all have earbuds and are set up to talk to each other, they know not to talk on them unless we have an issue.
I had some of the ladies in the kitchen take them up a plate and bottle of water to drink on the roof, and they are in a pop-up tent on the roof to shield them from the sun, as I don’t know when they are coming, just feel like they are coming here today.
They already have their bipod and long-range optics to help account for bullet drop compensation, and wind conditions.
Having these high-end optics allows us to dial in the changes we need to make to hit our targets, the wind is not a factor today, but we don’t know the distance that the bullet will need to travel yet. I told Tanner through mindlink to advise the patrols that if they sense the rogues to alert us and leave the area.
I set up in a tree along with my 7 other members to where the snipers had a straight shot, and we took turns advising where we were as we were to either side of each corner that they were set up in.
We each showed our positions, as the snipers would be waiting until they were fully approaching the packhouse as everyone was staying in there for us to take care of the problem.
We had about 30 warriors patrolling the perimeter, in sets of five, instead of the 20 we usually have. The ten extra will help us keep a larger area covered.
They would engage if needed, but I wanted us to take the leaders out. If we took care of them, the rest would duck and run. I didn’t want them to come back onto our lands again.
I want this message sent clearly, that if you do come onto our lands, you would be dealt with quickly. I am treating this like a military mission because I want no loss of life for our people, but I want to take out at least half of the rouges.
I will mindlink the snipers for their approach, but the snipers will still need the earbuds to announce who they were going to take out, as we need this to be done quickly because when they hear the shooting, they will turn tail and run for the border of our pack to escape.
That is why were are positioned where we were, we won’t shoot until they get close enough for the snipers to start taking them out.
When we know what direction, they are coming from, the snipers on the roof will all set up on the side, unless they come in from two different directions.
The shooters will then move around our area for the 8 of us to pick off the ones trying to get away. It is a good plan, we had gone over it several times and I believe that we can get about 100 of them with the plan, as the snipers can get at least 40 of them their selves as they were coming in and when they turn to run away.
We went over it several times, and we were all on the same page. I trust my team, and we wait, to see how well we do.
At 1.38 pm, I got the mindlink from one of the warriors on patrol. He advised that they were coming and had entered over the fence from the northeast side.
That was near me, so I wouldn’t have to move at all. I could stay in the same tree, and I watched as they poured in, spreading out to come onto our packlands, a little over 100 of them, and they walked right under me in my ghillie suit and never once looked up. I linked the sharpshooters to advise them which side they were going to be coming from. Then I froze.
I see Elise and Ava in this group, and now I know why they are hitting our packs, they will definitely be taken out today, and it pained me not to do it right now, but we cannot show our hands. I didn’t see Gina, but that didn’t mean she wasn’t a part of the group.
I told everyone through mindlink that Elise and Ava were part of this group, and that we needed to make sure they never left here again.
I am already sure that they told everything they could about B***d Rose, to get into this group, I just don’t know why they couldn’t live peacefully somewhere else, without having them attack other packs when they were the problem, not any of us.
We walked as they continued to pass under us, and I am glad we had sprayed ourselves with the masking spray now, as they are very close to the three of us. Even in the suits, if someone paid enough attention, they could see us, if we moved.
We waited until they were halfway up the hill to come to the packhouse, and I wonder why they haven’t noticed that they haven’t seen a single pack member yet, if they were paying attention, they should have noticed that.
I told the sharpshooters that they could fire after they set their first targets. You usually pick the first couple you are taking out, instead of wasting bullets shooting at the same person. Usually, the next shot was next to or behind the first one you shoot.
They announced their targets, and there were all going to take out the biggest guys, upfront who were presumed to be the leaders of this rogue group.
Several shots rang out before the group realized what was going on and they all turned and started running away, minus the ones that were dead. The sharpshooters kept taking them down, one after the other, as they called out who they were shooting at next.
I could see Ava and Elise with fear all over their faces heading toward me at a full run, and the second they came into range I took them both out.
I then proceeded to take out the people around them as they ran toward us. It was too late for them to turn around. The other 4 members had quietly circled back and gotten behind us as we figured that they were going to exit where they came in at.
I mindlink the warriors that they were coming back to the northeast side and that we had taken out about 80 of the hundred-plus, and we were still working on whittling the group down as they didn’t realize how many were shooting at them, and from where.
We kept firing and got it down to about 8 of them left, and they were stopped at the wall by 20 of our warriors.
The other 10 warriors now patrolling the perimeter of our packlands to see if they could find any more of the group on the outside, that hadn’t climbed over. I approach them in my suit, and when I got out of it, they couldn’t believe I was a woman. That is really sexist, men and women can be really good shots.
“Why have you been coming onto our packlands? Trying to attack us, Ever Green, and Red River packs?” I asked them.
“Our leaders had met their mates and they encouraged us to attack. They said that you were weak, and we needed some supplies. So, since they had taken us and our families in, we felt we had to help them. It was that or get kicked out of the pack” one of the men said.
“So, there are more of you out there?” I asked him.
“Yes, our mates and children, but they didn’t have anything to do with this. Please don’t hurt them, we don’t have anywhere else to go” he said to me.
“Calm down, we aren’t going to kill the women and children. How many women and children are in your camp?” I asked them.
“About 17 women, and 35 children, I don’t know the exact number, I just know how many children belong to me and my mate, which is three. One of the new mates to the leaders stayed behind, as she was pregnant. There are only about 8 men who stayed behind to watch over and protect them.
We just needed supplies, I wasn’t planning on killing anyone, but the leader’s women, that you already killed, were probably going to kill people, they were really mad about being banished from here, and everyone that Elise and Ava were mad at, got put on the list to attack.
I swear I wasn’t going to kill anyone, I just wanted food for my family is all” he said to me, and I noticed that he and a few of the other men in the group, had a potato sack laced through the sides of the belt loops on his jeans.
He is telling the truth, but I have a feeling that the third mate is Gina, and she is pregnant, and I feel like she will be a problem if it is.
“OK, I will not harm your group, I will need you, men, to come with us, and show us your camp. I will speak to each of you and your families, and if I deem you not a threat, you will be allowed to join our pack. But I cannot say at this time if you will all be accepted.
It really depends on why you went rogue” I told them, and they nodded in agreement as we headed back to the packhouse to get vehicles to transport the people around.
Three of the rogues rode in the SUV with me, and I found out that the man I had been speaking with was named Henry, His wife’s name was Jennifer.
They had an 18 daughter, Isabella, who was his oldest child, who had been being harassed by the Alpha’s son for s’**’I favors so they had left their pack. They had two more children, boys who were aged 12 and 8, and I could feel this family was no threat, and I had already decided that they would be the first group to go back to B***d Rose, with my permission.
I spoke with his wife, who told me the same thing and they were the first ones to head back to B***d Rose, to become members of our pack.
It took a few hours to sift through everyone, and we took 80 percent of them in B***d Rose. If I felt like they might be a threat, I gave them some money for them to get set up in another area, get jobs, and live in the human world.
I would not take a chance on someone who may just try to attack a pack member at a later date. Gina was indeed the third leader’s mate, and she was pissed off that the group was thwarted and had been killed off by my team, with no loss of life by B***d Rose.
I had Gina taken back to our pack and locked in a cell as she attacked me from behind with a tree branch, hitting me in the head, and knocking me down to my knees, when we were searching the camp for her.
She knew I had killed her mate, well, one of us had, and she was out for b***d. Unfortunately for her, some of the rogues subdued her before the warriors could come over to help me.
My head bled for a little while, but I didn’t have any lasting damage, and no concussion, thankfully.
I already know what I will be doing, as I will not kill the baby, Gina attacked me, so we will wait for her to deliver, and then I know who will give this baby a loving home.
