Mommy,We Got a Husband -
Chapter 089 Alaric's Kiss
Chapter 089 Alaric's Kiss
Galatea couldn't believe her eyes at the sight of such a harmonious trio, who seemed just like a real father and his offspring with not a single sign of discord. "Mommy, you've come at a perfect time. Harry and I just had tea with Daddy, and tonight the four of us will eat dinner together," Elisa said to Galatea. "What did you just call him?" Galatea was utterly shocked to hear Elisa calling Alaric 'Daddy'. "You're calling him 'Daddy' now?!"
"Mommy, don't be upset. Elisa said that since you two are getting married soon, she started calling him 'Daddy' early to get used to it," Caspian hurriedly explained. Hearing those words, Galatea really felt like she could explode Elisa's head.
"What kind of nonsense are you talking about, young lady?" Galatea fumed.
"I'm not talking nonsense," Elisa retorted confidently. "You adults aren't as honest as us kids. If you're going to get married, just get married. Why hide it?"
"Elisa is right," Alaric chimed in before Galatea could respond. "We, as adults, do indeed have many things to reflect upon."
These three were bantering back and forth to such an extent that Galatea felt like an outsider.
When lunchtime rolled around, Alaric took them to this breathtaking lodge nestled in nature.
Their dining spot was a cool pavilion situated between mountains and waters-the sound of the babbling lake at their feet, willows gracefully draping the banks behind them, the melodic chirping of songbirds in their ears, and the picturesque mountains in the distance. It was truly delightful.
"This place is so beautiful," Elisa exclaimed joyfully. "Daddy, Mommy, this would be perfect for your honeymoon."
"A proper honeymoon would be traveling the world," Caspian asserted. "Coming here would be far too simple for our mom. It's not acceptable!"
"Exactly, a trip around the world!" Elisa quickly agreed.
Galatea was about to say something, but Alaric quickly gave her a look that effectively said 'don't dampen the kids' spirits,' so she held her tongue.
During the meal, the two little rascals warmly called Alaric 'Daddy,' which left Galatea feeling a mix of amusement and exasperation. These two knew how to play their cards right when money was involved!
"Harry, there's a children's amusement park in the lodge. Once you kids are done eating, take Elisa to have some fun," Alaric told Caspian after seeing the kids nearly finished with their meal.
"Daddy, are you trying to get rid of us because we're cramping your style? I get it," Elisa piped up eagerly. "I'm done eating, Harry. Let's go play."
"Sure," Caspian replied, always the doting brother and now especially eager to support any chance for his father and mother to bond, hoping they would marry.
The two kids scampered off, and with them gone, Galatea couldn't help confronting Alaric. "What have you done to my kids to make them call you 'Daddy'? You can't just throw around that title."
"It was Elisa's idea to start getting used to it. With such an adorable daughter offering herself, naturally, I wouldn't resist," Alaric responded casually.
"If you hadn't told her something, how would my daughter ever think that we are going to get married?"
When Alaric heard Galatea's words, he really laughed a laugh that left Galatea quite baffled. She asked, "What's so funny?"
"You playing the victim first-that's kind of like the pot calling the kettle black, isn't it?" Alaric asked bluntly. "If Elisa hadn't seen the watch I gave you by your bedside, she wouldn't have thought we were getting married, would she?" The watch?
At the mention of it, Galatea's face turned beet red, embarrassed and wishing she could just disappear into a hole. Those little rascals had sold her out so quickly!
Galatea's face flushed as if ablaze, her cheeks burning under Alaric's gaze as he drew nearer.
"Your hypocrisy is quite something. When I gave it to you, you went on about your high principles and refused to take it, but when I tossed it in the trash, you picked it right back out, didn't you?"
Galatea clasped her hands tightly onto her clothes, feeling utterly mortified.
"Answer me, why did you secretly pick up that watch?" There was a hint of accusation in Alaric's tone and something teasing as well, sending Galatea's heart into an erratic flutter.
"I... I just thought it was a shame to waste something so valuable; I can return it- Ah!"
Galatea barely managed to speak before Alaric closed in once more. His lips hovered tantalizingly close to hers, leaving her frozen in place. It felt as though even the slightest movement would bring their lips together, yet she found herself pressed against a pillar, trapped with no escape.
"Galatea, you really are an enigma." Alaric gazed into her eyes from such a close distance, yet he couldn't decipher them. They seemed to conceal too many secrets.
And the more indecipherable she was, the more he wanted to unravel her mystery.
"What do you really want?"
If she sought a higher position, he had given her the opportunity, yet Galatea resisted; and if it was all just a game to her, why couldn't she be more carefree? These questions were a torment to Galatea's soul. She wanted to evade his penetrating gaze, but his eyes were so intense she found it impossible to hide. Her true aim was to find her son. Her unsuccessful relationship with Ambrose and a troubled past marriage had led her to become reclusive.
She didn't dare start another romance, for fear of accumulating yet more scars on her heart.
"Can't get that man out of your head?" Alaric questioned again.
That man? Who? Ambrose?
Right now, Galatea's mind was a complete mess.
"Answer me!" Alaric just wanted to know the answer, whether it was his desire to conquer or something else.
"No!" Pressed by Alaric, Galatea answered decisively, "He's been dead to me for a long time."
Indeed, in the first couple of years after Ambrose had disappeared, she had desperately wanted to find him, just to get an answer.
She had wanted to ask him why he had vanished and whether he had ever truly loved her.
But so many years had passed, and Galatea had let go. They were apart now; what was the point in knowing the answers?
It was better to end it quietly, leaving each other some dignity.
"Really?"
"Of course, he's been out of my heart for a long time."
"Then forget him completely!" As he spoke, a sudden desire pulsed through the air.
Galatea had been forcefully kissed by Alaric before, but this time it was different.
This time, it wasn't about punishment. It felt like a conquest or a release of emotions that had reached a breaking point.
Galatea panicked as she looked at him, so close his focus and intensity magnified, compelling her to close her eyes.
Then, at that moment, Alaric's phone rang, and Galatea grasped at it like a lifeline.
"Cell... phone..." she struggled to say, but it was in vain...
