Mommy,We Got a Husband -
Chapter 086
Chapter 086
"What's wrong, Mommy? You're sweating a lot." Caspian heard Galatea's voice and hurried into the room. Seeing her with sweat all over her forehead and a look of panic, he quickly asked with concern, "What happened?" Looking at the two children in front of her, Galatea really felt disoriented.
Was she still dreaming? Had she not awoken from that nightmare?
Galatea raised her hand and slapped herself, the pain confirming that this was no dream.
Seeing Galatea slap herself, both children were terrified and hurriedly asked, "Mommy, why are you hitting yourself? Are you possessed?"
"Elisa, quickly call 911, Mommy might be sick," Caspian said in a rush.
"Okay, I'm calling the ambulance right away."
After confirming that she wasn't dreaming and hearing Elisa mention calling an ambulance, Galatea hurriedly stopped her. "Don't, I'm fine, I just had a nightmare." "Are you sure you're okay?" Caspian asked, still not reassured.
"I'm really okay." Galatea looked at the two, truly baffled. "Weren't you guys out experiencing life in the countryside? How come you're back all of a sudden?"
They were supposed to be gone for half a month, and the time hadn't elapsed yet.
"Oh, that's because there was a big rainstorm the day before yesterday, and some areas experienced landslides, so the school thought it wasn't safe and had us come back early. We were expecting to arrive in the afternoon, but there was a traffic jam and we only got here in the evening," Caspian explained.
"Yes, and we were thinking of surprising you and Mia on our return. Instead, we got a huge shock to find out you guys moved while we weren't home!" Elisa said, still in disbelief over the sudden move.
"The move was really sudden. I planned to tell you when you were about to come back," Galatea explained guiltily.
"No worries," Elisa said, her eyes sparkling. "Finding the old apartment empty was indeed a shock, but then learning that we moved to such a big house was a huge surprise. It's so big here. I've never lived in such a large house before. Mommy, did you strike it rich?"
Speaking of the house, Galatea felt even more remorseful.
Mia came in and explained, "This house belongs to Mr. Knight, he said it's close to his company."
"Mr. Knight bought the house for Mommy?" Elisa's eyes widened even more. "Is it like a love token?"
"You little brat, what do you know about love tokens? Don't talk nonsense."
"Getting a whole house like that and it's still not official?" Elisa's face was a picture of pure confusion. "Isn't that practically the same as an engagement? Don't people usually get married when they have a house lined up?"
A house for marriage? How could this kid be so touchingly naïve?
"Mommy, are you really gonna marry him?" Caspian's voice was so full of excitement he was just about bouncing. "When is it happening?"
Galatea was speechless.
Suddenly, she didn't know how to explain it to the two kids.
"It's not what you guys are thinking, it's "
"Wow!" Galatea hadn't finished her explanation when she heard Elisa's voice, filled with awe. "Such a beautiful gift box."
Before Galatea could intervene, Elisa had already opened the box and taken out the watch.
"Such a gorgeous watch, and it looks expensive. Is it Mr. Knight's birthday gift to you?" Elisa inquired.
Galatea just sighed internally.
"Galatea Hartley?"With her eagle-eyed vision, Elisa noticed the engraving on the watch. "And it's custom made too! Wow, these rich folks really know how to give gifts. And here I went all out to buy you a necklace, but now I'm almost embarrassed to give it to you after seeing this."
"Does it really have Mommy's name on it? Let me see." Caspian eagerly grabbed the watch to take a closer look, and his eyes lit up even more when he saw it. Looking at Galatea he asked, "This is his gift to you, right?"
"...Yes."
"There's the house and now this gift, it'd be hard not to get married at this point," Elisa commented before starting to chant, "Get married, get married!" Infected by Elisa's enthusiasm, Caspian joined in the chanting, "Get married, get married!"
Galatea just felt completely helpless.
"Kids shouldn't worry so much about adult matters. It's late, off to bed now." Taking one child in each hand, Galatea ushered them both out of the room. Locked outside, Elisa and Caspian exchanged glances for a moment before Elisa giggled slyly, "Mommy's just shy."
"That must be it."
"Harry, will you take me clothes shopping tomorrow?" Elisa spoke up. "Since I'm about to become the daughter of the plushest man in town, I can't let my future daddy down. I need to step up my game." "Sure, I'll take you tomorrow. You can get whatever you want." Caspian would do anything for Elisa, obviously set on spoiling her.
After Caspian had tucked Elisa in bed, he sneaked off to the bathroom to make a phone call to Harry.
"I've got exciting news. Mommy and my daddy might be tying the knot real soon."
"Really?" Harry said skeptically, "I've been with your dad the whole time. How come I never felt they were heading towards marriage?" "It's true," Caspian said, "Harry, keep pushing, we're almost there."
"It's your victory, not mine," Harry corrected, "My mom is awesome, and the thought of her marrying your dad still bothers me." "Don't worry, my dad is a good guy. He'll definitely treat your mom well."
Well... Harry was left with nothing but a chuckle.
"By the way, Caspian, are you back?" Harry asked, "If you are, we need to switch back." Caspian: "..."
"Where are you? Speak up, let's pick a place and time to switch back... Hello?"
"My signal is bad, I'll call you back," With no other choice, Caspian had to hang up first.
At that, Harry could only laugh and look down on him, "Caspian Knight, to think you'd make such a rookie mistake one day."
The kid was really sticking to his mom and sister.
Harry resigned himself to enduring the situation for a few days. Pocketing his phone, he stepped out of his room and caught sight of Alaric emerging from the bathroom. "Dad, are you really going to marry Mommy?" Since Caspian had said so, Harry went ahead and asked.
"Did you forget what I told you? It's not that easy to make Galatea your mom, you got that?"
"Then you're... giving up?"
Giving up?
Seeing that Alaric didn't answer, Harry shook his head with a sigh. "Dad, all your fame and you've met a woman you can't have..."
A woman Alaric couldn't have? Why did that sound so humiliating?
"If you want to give up, then give up," Harry said like an adult, patting his chest. "Conquering the whole world but not one woman is not shameful..."
Alaric felt his desire to conquer and win flare up instantly.
A woman he couldn't have? Was there really any woman Alaric couldn't have?!
