Chapter 081 Her Birthday Under the Gentle Moonlight

"Come out?"

Galatea was momentarily taken aback, then she opened the door and stepped out to find emptiness. Before she could ask anything, Alaric's voice came from the phone again, "Go to the rooftop."

"The rooftop?" she inquired, puzzled. "It's dark already, why should I go to the rooftop... Hello?"

Before Galatea could finish her sentence, Alaric had already hung up, which was nearly enough to send her over the edge with frustration.

At his strong suggestion, she obediently headed to the rooftop, only to find it deserted. Realizing she had been played for a fool, Galatea seethed with anger. She was just about to call Alaric to give him a piece of her mind when a noise above her head startled her.

Looking up, she saw a helicopter slowly descending toward the rooftop. To her utter shock, Alaric himself was piloting it.

The helicopter touched down with ease, and Alaric, sitting in the cockpit, called out to Galatea, "Hop in."

Galatea was stunned. After a moment, she looked down at herself, dressed in pajamas with slippers on her feet and her hair all in disarray.

Noticing this, Alaric laughed it off and casually reassured her, "It's okay, come on."

Without further hesitation, Galatea climbed aboard the helicopter. As she settled in, the door closed behind her, and the aircraft began to ascend again.

"What in the world got into you? Since when do you fly helicopters out of the blue?" Galatea expressed her astonishment.

"I used to fly all the time back in my military days," Alaric explained, adding a warning, "Buckle up!"

Galatea quickly made sure she was secure. Once Alaric sped up, the thrill of overlooking the entire city from above was exhilarating.

Seeing Galatea's excitement, Alaric was rather surprised. "Got some nerve, don't you? Not afraid of heights?"

Galatea just shook her head. She had never feared heights, and ever since she was young, she loved thrill-seeking adventures. The Storm family also had access to a helicopter, which she had always loved to ride. It felt like decades had passed since those days.

"I wouldn't have pegged you for the daring type. How about I take you bungee jumping next time?"

Her face lit up at the suggestion. "Sure! Let's do one of those cliff jumps. It sounds thrilling!"

"Deal, I'll make sure we do that," Alaric promised.

"And where are we headed to now?" Galatea inquired, gazing at Alaric.

"Just follow my lead, and you'll see," Alaric said with a smile.

Maybe it was the moonlight that evening that made him look remarkably captivating.

Galatea felt as if she had been whisked away on a helicopter flight into the distant reaches of excitement, thoroughly enjoying the journey.

Upon arriving at their destination, she was utterly stunned, as if enchanted by magic. Galatea had never imagined landing on the coast, beneath brilliantly shining stars in the night sky, with moonlight gently casting a romantic glow on the water's edge.

"We're here," Alaric announced, guiding the helicopter to a gentle landing on the coastline.

Once the aircraft touched down, Galatea's senses floated in the rush of the moment, the sound of the tide drawing nearer and the seascape becoming more vivid and real.

She couldn't help but ask, "Why did you suddenly bring me here?"

"Do you like it?" Alaric didn't directly answer but instead posed his own question.

"I do," Galatea responded with an honest nod.

What girl wouldn't love such a serene, sweet, and romantic seaside evening?

"How about we go out to sea tonight?" Alaric suggested.

At that, Galatea's excitement surged, and she asked in disbelief, "Really? Can we?"

"Of course," Alaric said with a reassuring tone, taking her hand and leading her forward.

The soft sand lightly adhered to the surface of her feet, a deliciously comfortable feeling.

In this moment, as the sky and sea merged into one, the bashful moon shyly reflected in the waves. They absorbed the intoxicating beauty surrounding them, the atmosphere palpable. With Alaric holding her hand under the moonlit sky by the sea, a thrilling sensation coursed through her.

They walked along the shore for what seemed like an eternity until a yacht came into view.

"Is this your private yacht?" Galatea asked in surprise, turning to Alaric with an astonished look. He just smiled mysteriously and urged, "Go on, have a look inside."

With Alaric's secretive demeanor, Galatea snapped back to her senses and stepped onto the yacht.

As she entered, what lay before her was breathtaking.

The lights were illusionary, the roses romantic. Stepping on them, the cool, soft petals gently touched her toes.

It wasn't just the romance of the petals or the candles lined up, their melting glow like hues clipped from the sunset, warm and enticing.

What surprised her the most was the huge cake placed at the center of the yacht.

Galatea felt as though she was in a dream seeing all this before her. Was it all prepared for her?

"Happy Birthday," Alaric's voice came from behind her, magnetic and pleasantly intoxicating.

Happy Birthday?

Those simple two words hit her with a jolt of emotion, bringing a lump to her throat and moisture to her eyes. She couldn't find the words.

Back when she was Miss Stellan Storm of the well-to-do Storm family, her birthdays were extravagant affairs; her father would throw grand parties and everyone would come.

But since the Storm family's fortunes had waned, she dreaded her birthdays. The once lively gatherings had dwindled into days devoid of acknowledgment, save for her friends Mia and Harry. No one else seemed to remember, let alone care to surprise her with even a moment of celebration.

The delicate decorations in front of her showed Alaric's thoughtfulness.

"Thank you," she said softly after a while, with a tearful smile. "Since my father passed away, besides Mia and Harry, you're the first to celebrate my birthday. I really appreciate it." Galatea was genuinely moved, warmed by the moment.

"As long as you're happy," Alaric said, taking her hand again and leading her to the cake. "Make a wish."

Obediently, Galatea closed her eyes, pressed her hands together, and made a sincere wish.

Alaric didn't ask what her wish was. After she blew out the candles, he cut her a large piece of cake and handed it to her with a smile. "Eat up." Without reservation, Galatea began to eat.

In that moment, with the cake, candles, expansive ocean, starry sky, and fresh flowers, everything felt beautiful.

"There's also this," Alaric said, presenting her with a beautifully wrapped gift box.

Galatea was surprised once again. "A birthday gift for me?"

"Yes, take a look."

She accepted the box and was astonished upon opening it. Inside was an exquisite, limited edition lady's watch-beyond mere financial value. "The gift is too lavish; I can't accept it," she said.

Accepting such an expensive gift would only add to the growing ledger of debts between them.

"Are you sure?" Alaric asked.

"It's too much; I can't take it."

As soon as Galatea finished her sentence, Alaric tossed the gift box away.

"What are you doing?" She was shocked to see him throw it away. "Just because I don't want it, why would you throw it out?"
